So I was was sleeved on Oct 2, and I'm now on the "soft foods" stage, have been for a week or more now. I'm having a hard time getting into a daily routine of what to eat, when to eat, etc. and getting in all my liquids still each day. I'm not sure how many grams of Protein I should get in each day at this stage, but I do have my 1 month post op appt with nurse & NUT on Tuesday. I would just like to know exactly what I can eat that's considered "soft" vs. the "Easy to chew" stage, which isn't for another month according to my binder of information I was given. They have a basic list of foods in there, but I need more variety. This weekend I've tried eating 2 tor…

I am 12 days post op. When I went for my one week check my Dr told me I could eat what I could tolerate but not to overdue it. I have been doing well eating extremely small portions of what my family eats. I had my small dinner and then we had a party to attend. We were there for about an hour and I couldn't stop grazing. I finally went home because I knew I was eating too much. Now here it is 3.5 hours later and I had to have a few bites because I was hungry. I feel fine but am scared I did some kind of damage. Advice?

I've seen a few people that they had their surgery in MX and weren't sure what to eat or how much protein they needed. I had my surgery through Kaiser and was given a website to get all the food, vitamin and shopping lists. I thought it might help someone if I posted the site. kp.org/misg and click on bariatric surgery

I am one week post op- and my diet calls for full liquids. To me that meant soup- as long as not chunky was fine. Am i right here? I have read how others use a strainer to make sure it is really a liquid- is this necessary? We fully liquify- but it does make it kind of a thicker soup- but not at all chunky. Is this ok?

I am wondering if anyone has any ideas for getting enough Protein. I can't stand any Protein drinks, they make me want to vomit. I am 2-1/2 weeks post op. Trying to drink milk, and now eating some cheese, Beans. Any suggestions would help. Also needing help with getting enough liquids in. This whole sipping the Water is really hard to get 64 ounces in during the day. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

OK I'll admit it. I just don't like Water. I can force it down - and I do - but I don't like it. I KNOW it's better than anything else. BUT - if I'm mostly trying to avoid dehydration does it really matter if I drink plain, unadulterated water vs. decaf iced tea or hot herbal tea or a clear ready-to-drink Protein drink? I know many people drink Crystal Light, but I don't tolerate aspertame so for me it's pretty much what I've listed. Sometimes I do mix 1/2 sugar-free lemonade (sweetened with Splenda) with my decaf iced tea. Are there studies/science that prove water is all that much better?

I met with my surgeon today and told him my weight loss a has slowed down this week. After a larger 25 lbs loss I think at week 3/4 this is okay. He told me me I should only eat 2 and at the most 3 times a day and nothing in between. Seemed to radical to me, not sure I want to do that. I understand grazing is bad. But geez. What are your thoughts. I am hungry or eating something every couple hrs now. I want to fuel my metabolism and exercise. I am walking.

Day seven for me is up and now I have 8 to go.......every time I try to drink the vanilla shake I have trouble keeping it down....It tastes horrendous and the thought of drinking it 8 more days makes me cry My daughter has thinned it out for me and I use a straw which helps it by pass most of my taste buds....it is also ice cold.....but all I can think of is food that is salty...... I have 0 energy and feel like the pits...I have been getting leg cramps for the last 2 days and have no idea if that is because I am lacking something..... I am proud of myself for sticking this out and understand all the reasons...but even with that..I feel like the next person who says…

My doctor's post op diet plan is a bit confusing. It says clear liquids 1-2 following surgery. Then it says 2 weeks following surgery, start the full liquids phase. It doesn't seem to be written clearly. I know all doctors are different, but how long were you on clear liquids?

I love eggs, not egg whites alone (yuck). But os the protein to calorie ratio for Whole eggs worth it? I ate 2 eggs hardboiled 130 calories and about 11 g of protein. I can have a pire protein shake with 35 g protein and 160 calories.

I did order the unjury chicken broth and Wow is it good! So I ordered the chocolate shake and its due to arrive today. I hope its good! Sure would appreciate any ideas. I am two months and/or two weeks out from surgery but my doc said I can taste and spit to get my palate back. I am doing fine on whites, but reds all taste like they've gone bad. Pinot Noir is a favorite and I don't want to miss out on drinking every bottle in the cellar with DH LOL Did you find your palate went off after surgery when you jumped back onto the happy bus? Does this go away????? This is a tragedy LOL

Okay was not good. My pre op diet is to consist of 3 Optifast shakes and two bars. Today, I got very shaky and ended up eating Progresso reduced sodium minestrone and some peanut butter. I feel bad, but I needed something. I felt like I was going to die. Disappointed in myself though.

I have 2 week to lose my last 4 pounds before my next drs appt. I need to lose 15 pounds before I get a date. Remembering my nut saying chips are one of the worst things I can put in me right now, nachos were out. Or we're they?! I took low-fat cheddar and spread it out on a plate with some salsa. I then microwaved it until the edges were a bit crunchy and middle was nice and gooey. No more getting chip faced for me! I found a new treat!

So I was just sleeved August 7 in Mexico and I'm feeling great with all my drinks and what not no nausea or vomiting. I'm trying to follow the post op diet correctly but I've already sort of cheated and tried scrambled eggs and felt fine after eating a small amount with relatively no discomfort. Is it ok to advance this quickly through the stages as long as I feel fine afterward? Or are there some serious side effects that can happen even though I feel fine eating these foods so soon?

My surgeon gave me an entire binder of information and post up diet stuff. There's examples of food for all stages except the puréed food. It only says "applesauce texture". Could someone please give me some exames?

I'm in the starting stages of getting the RNY surgery. After speaking with the nutritionist I wonder how the heck do you get all your Protein in when you're dependant on Protein shakes? I guess I'm scared...in how does one get it all in when you can't take more than a bit or two of something? I can deal with liquids for the stages before and after surgery but....I'm kinda scared of the more solid foods. After hearing about food getting stuck...dumping...zoiks! Have you had food get stuck? What was it like? How long does it take for whatever solid food you get in there to digest? Oh so many questions! More research for me to do

My potassium is always low due to an RX for HBP. I take a supplement, but now on this liquid protein fast the levels have dropped so much that it could compromise my surgery date! I have been told to increase my supplements - I am waiting to see if my surgery scheduled for Monday gets the green light.

I am on clear liquids until Monday when I start my full liquids. Do you think it would be okay if I had Outback's French onion soup without the bread and cheese and avoided the onions and only ate the broth? I'm dying for a different taste, but I don't want to screw up either.

I start week 4 mushy foods on Thursday but lately I'm noticing I just don't have the urges (head hunger) like I use to for food. I should be elated about this but it kind of concerns me because in general I just don't want food at all. This is a very strange concept for me. I thought I would be super excited about getting to the mushy foods stage of my diet. Lately I've been less inclined to think about food at all. It's kind of become a chore making sure I get all my Protein in too. In fact, I'm getting pretty bad about it. I do mostly whey Protein powder. I've had a few Oh Yeah shakes and muscle milk drinks but I'm bored and find that I end up drinking crystal light m…
