for more ideas for full liquids. I just don't like cottage cheese or yogurt. I don't like artificially sweetened things. I like strained broccoli cheddar soup-but I have eaten that ENOUGH. I am so done with brocc cheddar soup! I eat soupy grits and soupy oatmeal. I supplement proti diet in my water, so I am getting protein that way. I just honestly don't know how I am going to do this for another 2 weeks.

Hey All, Set for surgery on the 25th and had my last gluttony session tonight before I start my pre-op tomorrow. We went to Outback had the dark bread they give you, fried mushrooms with dipping sauces, two margaritas, Alice Springs/Ribs combo with french fries and a side of broccoli. Then, we had a huge piece of hummingbird cake for dessert. Good God. And, the worst part is, besides the dessert, that's about what we usually eat... On one had, I'll be so glad that I just plain CAN'T eat like that anymore but, dammit, I really enjoy everything about food; buying it, cooking it, serving it or having it served, eating tons of it and then looking forward to t…

Is it okay to use Herbalife shake mixes and Protein powders. I used them to lose wait a couple of years ago and like the taste. Just wanted to know if these are okay to use after VSG or should I look for a different type? Thanks,

Okay, so a month from now when I get to eat real food, I KNOW my first look will be too spaghetti sauce, chili, sloppy joes, etc. My old fav was spaghetti meat sauce with cottage cheese --weird? ate it when I was cooking Lasagna, lol. Anyway, just seeing if anyone has experience with these items, maybe the sugar is too high...

I am on day 7/8 (not sure if I count the day of surgery) and I see that I allowed to have protein drinks (mixed with water). I dont have access to isopure..but I have atkins shakes..I also have something called "High Alpha Whey Protein and Whey Isolate protein powder. Would any of these work during this phase of the diet? I am really struggling with getting my protein in. :scared0:

My surgeon has offered no special diet instructions for my upcoming VSG. Should I be worried or concerned about this? I am counting calories, just because I have made my mind up for a lifestyle change, but still... :biggrin0:

I know we aren't supposed to compare. I know this is a marathon and not a sprint. But I have to confess to being totally frustrated. My progress has been so slooooooow. I was hoping for a kick start the first month being that almost three weeks of that was just liquids, and then it would level off to a slower but steady progress after that. I lost more on my pre-op diet eating a heck of a lot more than I am now and I wasn't even exercising. The last two and a half weeks I've barely eked out two pounds. At that rate it is going to take me two years and there are people on the boards doing it in 4 - 6 months. I did not expect that to happen since I'm …

My wife has recently discovered something that we should have known, but didn't because we didn't read everything closely. Nexium, takes about 30 minutes to start working after you take it in the morning. So it may be very important to take it this way to prevent too much acid from being produced when you eat in the morning. If you take it and then eat too soon, your stomach may produce way too much acid for the morning meal, and cause you problems throughout the day. This is just a heads up to help others. It has really helped get rid of some of her stomache sensitivity and occasional pain associated with eating.

It's weird, I was really really calm about having surgery until I actually booked the flight...now I've lost my mind completely! I'm seeing Dr. Aceves on the 29th, so I have to start the 10 day very low carb diet this Sat. I have been eating below 2000 calories since June to try and lose weight, but this week I've just *lost* it with carbs especially. I've been making lists of things to eat..but I think I'm gonna die. I live off carbs. Ok, healthy carbs, I eat a lot of whole grains, veg, fruit etc. I like salad *dodges things thrown at her head*. Yea I eat a lot of junk food too, I didn't get to 320lbs eating good food. Can anyone suggest good starter foods? I'm…

Well last night was my first time going out to dinner...my wonderful husband hasn't been out to eat in a loooong time and wanted sushi. I had a couple sips of Soup, about 5 bites of salad (should have probably stopped here) and then 3 bites of sushi (protien only). As we were walking out and by the car...well...let's say it was easily coughed up. LESSON LEARNED. Also coming to the realization of what role food played in me dealing with stress...makes me kind of sad because things are "stressful" at work, new diet, economy at home etc....and I can't eat. Please pray for me....it's hard. LIfe's kick'in my butt right now...LOL...and I can't eat my way through it. Q…

Hi all. I would like to make some turkey chili with beans for a nice flavor changes. I am planning to grind the turkey really well, but what about the beans? Is the "skin" on normal kidney style bean OK to eat? Or should these be ground as well? I am at the later mushie stage and slowly working into softs. Thanks!

My sweet boyfriend bought me this ingenious device and it's saved me! I mix ice, Water, and some grape juice together - stick the blender into the little cup that comes with it - and then YUM! It's like a grape slushy. I find that everything goes down easier when it's iced. Smart Stick Blender by Cuisinart | Kitchen Contraptions - KitchenContraptions.com

Today I started my pre-op diet for surgery with Dr Aceves next Friday. I worked last night, and I'm not much of a cook, but I decided to make some bacon and eggs for breakfast. It smelled sooooooo good, my 24 year old son woke up and had breakfast with me at 6AM!!! Hmmmmm....unexpected benefit?!:biggrin0:

When you get to the soft phase of the post-op diet, a lot of people enjoy mashed potatoes. I found something better tasting (in my opinion) and healthier (beta-carotine)... a baked sweet potato. I take the potato and make an "X" in the top and then place it on the bottom oven rack. Bake at 475 degrees for 45-55 minutes (depending on size). When you take it out, it's very soft and the skin easily peels away. The inside is like sweet mashed potato... very moist. I sprinkle a little salt on top and enjoy.

Once I got to the soft phase of the pre-op diet, I was in heaven. LOL. Some of my favorites were (and remain), 1/4 cup of part-skim ricotta cheese. I like it as is for breakfast or lunch but you can add Splenda and it tastes like the inside of a cannoli. Add a little cocoa powder to make it a chocolate one. I love tilapia. I take a piece of foil and put the fish on it, cut an orange and drizzle the juice on top, and add a little salt and pepper. Close the foil and toss it on the grill or in the oven at 400 degrees for about 6-8 min. and dinner is done. You can use lemon in place of the orange if you prefer that taste. I can make a meal out of a small sweet potato.…
