I found I wasn't hungry today. Very strange after being so hungry. What are you all feeding the rest of the family through this?

  5. Maybe it's just that doctors do things differently but I thought after surgery sleevers were suppose to be high protein/low carbs. Elminate flours, sugars, etc. Eat Protein first, veggies last. I was looking up Soup recipes and there are so many requiring flour. Looking further people are having noodles, rice, pototates, etc. Am I misunderstanding something?

  6. Started by apricot1119,

Any others on here doing this vegitarian? I eat some fish, but have not eaten meat since I was 15. I am 32 now. Can not see eating meat now. I am thinking this will get easier when I can eat solids. I can do veggie burgers and other alternatives.

Does anyone else experience a slight sharp pain when they sip just a little too much liquid? I'm still trying to teach myself how much I can have, but there are some times where I don't think I'm sipping too much then my stomach tells me otherwise like, "Nice try, slim. Better luck next sip. *insert sharp pain here*."

Girl, I am a coffee lover. would I be allowed to drink coffee after surgery? Coffee for me like gas-x for some people. and also I get the energy boost from coffee as well. But I am talking about good brewed coffee with caffeine not the decaf one. Thank you.

When i get on solid foods should I contiune to do lo carb until i reach my goal and then gradually add whole grain to my diet. No more than 40 carbs a day though.

  10. Started by ForMyfamily,

Well saw the Doc Friday and received the news on my pre op diet. I have to do 3 weeks on the liver shrink diet. Man that will be hard. I did do a liquid only boot camp diet this month just to do a body cleanse. Lost 15 lbs. and feel much better. Anyways I thought the 3 weeks would be liquids only and it was going to be extreme but my Doc came through and said I could have lettuce, radishes, celery and such also. So, viola! A salad and This will be my filler and help out greatly.

I'm two days out of surgery. Was on clear liquids yesterday and today I get to go back to my protein shakes. Was curious if I can have tomato soup??? Doc didn't mention anything about any other liquids besides the protein shakes.

  12. Started by Hauntie,

I'm noticing some differences in post op diet stages. I had my surgery on the 18th. I was on water only post op day 1, clear fluids post op day 2, started protein shakes, cream soup (tomato only), pudding and yogurt on post op day 3.. I'm not having any problem meeting my protein or fluid goals. I'm on this until my MD apt on 8/2. After that I can add solid protein - chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, low fat cheese. No fruits, grains or vegetables - even if finely chopped or pureed. I'll be on this stage until I'm cleared to start a regular diet, hopefully by the end of August. Does anyone else have this restrictive a diet plan?

OMG!!! I'm so excited but scared out of my mind. I start liquids, Monday the 23rd. Then the big day August the 6th... Also I have been having doubts about following thru. My husband says if I go through with it or not he will love me no matter what. I think the biggest thing that is getting to me is the surgery & the healing process. What keeps playing back & forward in my head is that we have 4 kids. What if i don't wake up? I couldn't bare the thought of leaving behind my husband & our 4 kids. Are these feelings normal?

So I'm on my third day of the preop diet. It's not easy but I'm sticking with it, excercising and losing weight. My question is, if I can stick to a preop diet shouldn't I be able to stick with a diet without surgery? I'm really nervous about whether I'm jumping the gun. Help!

M 1 month and three days Post-op, I'm freaking out cause I've been on this stall for a really long time, I usually don't get too worked up but it's been like this for the longest. What can I do to get out of it, I honestly like feel like I should starve my self or something despite the fact that I'm hardly eating anything to begin with! I haven't started exercising, but should I? Will it help?! Ugh sooo frustrating..

  18. AND HOW DOES IT WORK OUT FOR YOU???

  19. Started by gallogirl99,

I'm 4 days out and I'm "dying" for a sip of coffee! Even decaf, I don't care....How do you get past this craving, I'm thinking about coffee flavoring mixed in my protein shake?

  20. Started by Neoteric Verve,

I am about 11mos out from surgery. I know I can eat more but not when I eat protein first. I am about 30-50lb from goal and still lose 1-2lb weekly eating "normally". For a reference, I can now eat 75% of a Sonic Single w/ cheese but I find that when I do I unknowingly eat LESS calories daily (around 1000-1200). When I try to eat more sensible I eat around 1500-1800 calories daily. On those days I eat the "hospital-portioned" cereal for breakfast with 2% milk, lunch comprises of a chicken breast with whatever vegetable is in the cafe at work, dinner is random as it can be nothing or up to one chicken satay (for example). Interspersed throughout my day I drink water and Ho…

  21. I had surgery july 17th.. water intake hasn't been that good one reason is water hurts to drink. When I drink water even in tiny sips I get a full gas feeling that's painful especially when the pressure initially hits and it feels impossible to burp. Thought it would go away, but no luck. Tried drinking diet snapple.. same thing. When I eat jello or broth, it doesn't happen though. What am I doing wrong?

  22. Started by vickyt,

I am in my 2nd week of puree's and I am so craving a CRUNCHY, tomatoee, baconee, lettuce sandwich! I have 1 week and 4 days till my soft food stage and I'm in serious need of REAL food. I get the head hunger thing but this is to hard. I find myself not eating anything during the day since it has to be puréed. I never realized this would be this hard. My nut told me for now she wants me to concentrate on getting my liquids in but that is even a problem. I have never had great strength with will power and diets so I am not sure what made me think I can do this. Sorry for the vent

  25. I just moved up to mushy food.....I am eating only around 1/4 cup of food for each meal. Still supplementing protein with shakes. I have been walking everyday for 20-30 min. Still getting very tired and need naps occasionally. I have noticed the scale going up 1-2 lbs. I am freaking....what's going on??

Hi all, I am going for my first pre op nutritionist appt on Friday. I will be taking a 3 day food diary as well as a list of meds. My NUT told me on the phone that she will be going over the pre and post op diets with me. I'm a total OCD planner and have my handy notebook with me..I have made a list of questions but I'm wondering if anyone can throw out some questions that I could ask her or info that may be helpful. So far I have 1. How much protein/carbs pre/post surgery 2. Vitamins 3. Preventing hairloss or decreasing Anything helps! Xoxo

I am set to be sleeved on the 27th. Today is D-Day...and so far it hasn't been that bad. Right now I am using Baratric Advantage until my shipment from powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury arrives. The only complaint I have is....the shakes..they make me feel nauseous. That's good....I don't want to eat anything, bad cause I don't like feeling like I am going to hurl. I think I might switch to a slimfast shake at least once a day.

  28. Started by Helene13,

I got home today from hospital I was sleeved on Friday. I'm feeling pretty good I have my pain meds, nausea medicine, and Prilosec so I think I'm pretty good with that department. I'm with a lot of you in getting all my liquids in, so hard! But with sleeping because of meds, it's really super hard. Any suggestions? I want to follow everything through exactly and I feel like this isn't good.

  29. I am having my surgery Aug 2nd and I'm not worried about anything but the no drinking 30 mins before a meal, with a meal, and 30 mins after a meal. I'm one who really needs some thing to wash my food down with and I'm afraid I won't be able to eat with out some thing to drink. Does any one else have this problem and anyone who might take a sip of even just water with there food and if so are you hungry quicker? Please help.

  30. I was reading a an email yesterday where one member posted some really awesome cauliflower recipes. If it was you, please repost -- I have been searching all day for your last post and I can't find it! If anyone else has some recipes please post -- I know that the cauliflower dishes really help keep the "HUNGRY GREMLINS" away! Thanks!

Today I am 15 days post op and I am down 22lbs (32 including pre op) and am thrilled with the weight loss but this "licking" the spoon a couple of times and being full is unnerving and frustrating lol I was thrilled today to be able to eat, really chew, something!! I went to Applebees with my husband (we are out of town) and I ordered baked tilapia. It was soooo good!!! I enjoyed all 4 bites I got to take LOL!!! Should've shared a plate with my husband but I had these big plans of being able to eat half of the filet. NOT! But for now, the fish was good and I was thrilled to be able to chew!

I am on day 7 of my pre-op diet. I woke up with the thought, "It's Sunday. I want to go out to eat." Then I spent the next 30 minutes looking online about how a cheat in the middle of a VLCD would affect weight loss. I have played with the different options for restaurant meals in my mind and said to myself, "it's now or not again for a few months." Truth be told, I am not physically hungry. I just WANT to eat. So THIS is Head Hunger!

  33. Started by lizzybeth,

I know that I can have strained Cream of Chicken soup, but what about tomato soup or cream of broccoli soup? The cream of broccoli looked like it just had the small pieces of broccoli - if I were to put it in a blender to make sure it was mush, is that acceptable or should I hold off? I don't want to cause damage to my sleeve (I am 6 days out) but I am looking for more variety than my pudding, yogurt and protein shakes.

Everybody at work is asking me what kind of diet I'm in. Many people ask about paleo diet which I'm was clueless about, atkins, vegan, etc well u get the point so I tell people that I'm in no kind of diet I did a life and food change. I have a great idea I feel I should record myself because I repeated myself so many times I feel like broken record lol

I am someone that has always hated fake sugars. I have tried them all and cannot stand them. I am missing having my coffe and would really like to know what you guys, that hate the stuff as much as me, do to get by.

  36. Most of you guys know me well on these boards. I have been struggling the last few months, only losing 3 pounds a month or so. Since mid June--- hardly anything, just fluctuating up and down a pound. I am so frustrated. I made an appt with the NUT. I went on mfp and although lately the data is more limited than before, I gathered all the data I could. Seems I am able to eat more now and do. My exercise sort of fell off as well. I was concentrating on the amount of calories I was taking in but I also wrote down the average carbs and Protein a day. I printed out my diet for the last 6 months for us to go over. I was losing really well when my carbs and calories were…

Hi, So yesterday I had my meeting with my nutritionist and she pretty much told me I am on stage 3 food which are soft blended foods and baby food consistency. Looking for food ideas and recipes? She said cottage cheese, blended meats almost like pate , mashed potatoes. Any suggestions and ideas would be awesome... Thanks B

Well, here's one for ya... I am doing my 3 month supervised diet with my surgeon. I go to the classes, follow the diet to a "T" and exercise. I am just finishing my 1st of 3 months. I just got on the scale and noticed that I have gained 2 lbs. I have my class and weigh in tomorrow night. I have noticed that I do eat more carbs- fruits, vege's and a little quinoa than I have in the past- but this is what I have been told to do in the diet. In myfitnesspal, I am under my calorie intake by 300-500 cals per day due to exercise. I just don't get it... I would have thought I would loose. 2 lbs isn't that much and is probably water, but I am bummed. I am almost thinki…

Yesterday I went and had drain removed. I was averaging 70 grams of protein and my NUT said to back down to 60. So today they all taste terrible. Guess I will try them again tomorrow. Weird huh? Any suggestions? I'm on full liquid 11 days post op.

Just had my sleeve done on Thursday, 7/5 so I am only 3 days post-op and I am starving. The smell and even the thought of broths make me sick. I know I am not getting in enough water and I cannot tolerate the protein drinks. I feel like I am screwing myself up. This is to hard. I just want to chew on something. I LOVE raw carrots and I can't stand to have to wait for them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get through this?

  47. Ok.. well I have notice I don't eat like before I haven't been sleeved yet. I eat a little and I get full right away I start burping and have that feeling of throwing up. Also This bad stomachache I get. Is it that my brain is starting to get the message or I'm focusing on This surgery to much. My surgery will be next month. I'm starting to eat slowly too. Has anybody had that problem too. Just curious.

It's wanted to give a YUM review real quick. I'm allergic to nuts and can only stand so much of the chocolate stuff. This bar is a few more carbs than I'd prefer (35) but its great tasting for pumpkin lovers (like me). Has 30g of protein and isn't as huge as other bars. I'm stoked!
