It's 2061 and the comet that has latched itself into orbit around the earth is giving off an odd lethal radiation. Scientists have discovered that the only ones immune from the radiation are the morbidly obese. The president's wife is ordering all restaurants to triple the portions and cook in animal grease. The gastric bypassers and sleevers are now at a disadvantage. What would you do to defeat your tool and pack on the pounds as quickly as possible? (The proceeding was a fictional scenario. Do not go out and invest in lard futures. )

I have my first appointment the my doctor on Monday so I'm very early in this process. However, I've already starting trying different Protein powders as I am an EXTREMELY PICKY eater/drinker. I simply do not like sugar free things because I've yet to find a sugar substitute that I can tolerate. Anyway, my question for y'all is during your preop diet and liquid portion of your postop diet, did you have to drink the Protein powder with milk/water or could you actually make a smoothie/shake using fruit. I just cannot see getting it down without being able to "hide" it. Thanks!

Hello, I was sleeved just over a week ago and I have a question I hope you all can help me with. I often heard and read of forums just like this one about people only being only able to eat 2 spoonfuls of yogurt or 1/2 cup of sugar free jello then getting so full they cant take another bite. My question is this an exaggeration? I only ask because I was expecting this but I find myself being able to eat a whole cup of sugar free jello or pudding and feeling like I can eat more. Make me wonder if my surgeon left my stomach to big, i'm a bit concerned. please help thanks

K so I'm one week out from surgery, I can not take the clear protien drinks or the powder at all. I gag just smelling of them. Today I cooked a roast I'm going to drink some of the juice from the roast I hope I'm not pushing it but I can't take in any protien any other way. I have had no complications from surgery at all I pray it continues. This has been a rough weekend with Easter and all the family around. The restraints of this new way of life are hard for some of my family to understand. I'm trying not to let it bother me but I hate not being able to go out to dinner with them. It's just too hard to watch them eat and not be able to. I want this transistian to be …

I know I can get enough protein drinking in shake form, but am not sure how to get it in 3 to five small meals a day. I remember when I was pregnant with twins and purchased a book, "Having Twins." After we got over a good laugh of incredulity over the mass of the woman's stomach, (of course I would never get that big.. wrong!) we began to read about food requirements to have healthy babies. Protein, protein, protein! (I seem to remember between 70 and 80 grams of protein a day for good brain stem development.) We started counting protein grams, and I was so sick I just couldn't eat enough protein. Finally we came up with the "noxious drink," a combination of soy po…

Full liquids are sooo yummy! The flavor of real food. My faves, so far, are: half a can Fat free broccoli/cheese Soup, made with Water, blended with a slice or 2 of fat free cheese (to raise the protein) half a can of fat free cream of celery, made with water, blended with a half a can of chunk white tuna. These take me an hour to eat, stuff kinda trickles slowly into my tummy, and leave me quite full and satisfied. I'll add more as I experiment. Some things I want to try are, baby food meat in cream soup, fat free cottage cheese in tomato soup, I have a recipe for an eggnog smoothie that sounds good too. I May have that one for dinner.

Im confused as to whether or not Im allowed to have milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. The paperwork I got from my surgeon contradicts itself. On the one hand, they say not to have milk products, but in another section of a different handout they gave me it says to keep snacks like yogurt and string cheese handy. So, which is it? What were the instructions everyone got regarding milk products post surgery?

Once I put the deposit down on my surgery, a month before the date I started the 2 protein 1 lean cuisine regiment. I thought that since I was only going to have one small meal a day I would use the expensive bone china salad plate that I got for my wedding 34 years ago. (Note; I have a full set of my favorite Nortaki china, but my mother-in-law insisted that we register GOOD china.. ie bone china. I got a total of two cups and saucers, one salad plate, and 3 dinner plates.) We have NEVER used this china, so I washed the dust off and began to use it for my evening meals. I also started using my sterling silver flatware with this meal, (we use it twice a year for Chri…

I am 15 days post-op and my surgeon gave me the okay to start coffee today. He said no milk or sugar in it. I used the sugar free french vanilla creamer (coffee mate / non dairy) today and I didn't have any problems. However, I did notice in the handout he gave me, it does say that I am NOT supposed to use any creamer ( non-dairy or not). I don't understand why and it doesn't give an explanation. Anyone else using this? Thanks!!

I have been feeling so good the past 2 weeks I decided the post-op diet was just more of a suggestion! I got a little tired of full liquids and decided to have a few teaspoons of peanut butter. I literally broke out in a cold sweat and thought I was going to lose my cookies a few minutes later. Maybe these Dr's really do know what they are talking about. Hello chicken broth.......

My nectar samples are on backorder. I was supposed to choose my flavors from them to mix with my Bariatric Advantage wild berry punch crystals. So, I decided just to mix a little of the crystals to check out the taste and I don't think I'm gonna be able to stomach that 3 times a day post-op! Before I call my Dr. Office in am since this is what they have in their post-op instructions to take what are some alternatives? Did any of you take vitamin pills instead after sleeve? Is the double stuff nectar good for first 2 weeks post op? What are some other good flavors? Need to get this stuff ordered soon. Thanks

Hi all, I know that it has been mentioned to me by my nutritionist that I should not eat and drink at the same time once i have been sleeved. I have just realized however that I accepted this as gospel and never really understood the logic behind the warning. I now wonder if it is because there will not be enough room in my sleeve for the all important Protein and the liquid? On the other hand, I had also heard that fluids push food down the digestive track at a quicker rate that normal peristalsis. This would hypothetically mean that one could eat more if they drank and ate at the same. I m hoping someone can help clear this up. Thanks so much! Finally, I have read th…

I have reached the point- 3 and 1/2 weeks post op- where I wonder if I did the right thing- will I ever be able to eat any type of normal food again? I mean- I know I will be eating small meals- but right now, I can't eat more than a spoonful or two of cottage cheese or soup. More than that and I end up vomiting. It almost scares me. Any advice from anyone out there?

Hello Everyone, I am so glad I found this site! I will be starting a milk diet for 2 to 3 weeks and was told I could only have skim milk and water. I can add protein powder to the milk, but that's it. I am really nervous about this. I don't drink milk at all, so they suggested I try Soy milk instead. I asked if I could use slim fast because I have used them before, but they said, No that won't work." I'm really worried about succeeding with this diet. Any advice?
