  1. Started by Newfoundlove,

As have many on this forum, I've been finding it challenging to get in my Protein, and have it taste half way decent at the same time. Today I found a really good mixture. Mix together: Crystal Light Pomegranite Cherry powder 1 Scoop powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury (or other brand) vanilla Protein Powder 1 Cup Water 3 Ice Cubes To me it tastes really, really, good without being too sweet!

  3. I'm not, nor have I ever been, a huge fan of Protein shakes. However, I've been doing quite well on my pre-op diet and have actually found a few I like. The other day (prior to pre-op) I found a recipe on pinterest for a copycat version for Wendy's Frosty. This morning I adapted it to my Protein shake. I used my normal shake powder (I'm using up a bag of Visalus I already had), about 1/4 cup of ice, 1/2 - 1 Cup of Milk (depending how thick or how much shake you want to make), 2 tablespoons of sugar free, fat free chocolate pudding mix, 2 tablespoons of cool whip (Sugar free), a dash of vanilla flavoring (about a tsp). Just chunk it all in the blender and oila! It is …

Soooo....I've been doing a diet consisting of 2 Protein shakes & 1 salad with protein a day, for 2 weeks before surgery (May 15th). I've lost 6.5 lb in about 10 days and have only "cheated" once by taking a few mouthfuls of some sunflower seeds in a weak moment. According to my BMI, My surgeon only requires me to do a 3 day diet before surgery, which would start tomorrow. Which brings me to my question: I've seriously been craving a certain fast food restaurant. Should I go by there today and pig out since its my last chance basically ever? Since I don't even have to be on this diet at this point anyway what would it really hurt?

  5. Started by mommyinneed,

What was your preop diet? Mine is yogurt and water for 3 days but I have noticed some do slim fast and shakes. Is it different for due to bmi's?

Yesterday I was okayed for the full liquid part of the post op diet. I know what to eat, how to eat it, and when to stop. But don't know how often I'm supposed to eat. If I wait till I'm hungry I'll never eat. Getting my liquids in, just not sure when to eat.

  11. Started by Joni,

I'm just sitting here thinking about vegetables (should I get my head examined?). When you go to a "regular" diet, what vegetables are easiest to digest? What did you start with? Was there a method you used to introduce others? Can you tolerate all? Are there veggies that some can never tolerate again? Just curious.....

  12. Is this normal? I'm brand new to this forum, and this is my first post. I had my surgery 4 days ago, and I have never experienced this level of starvation. I'm sipping broth, light juice, and diet jello. But I swear I've never been this hungry and it feels like torture. Is this the way it's supposed to be? Are we supposed to suffer this way? Have any of you been prescribed an appetite supressant? I don't think I can do this for four more weeks. I am one step away from Cheeseburger-ville!

  13. Started by JaniRN,

I am 14 days out today, tried to start puréed food. Mixed tuna with a spot of mayo and relish. Could only get 1 1/2 oz down within 15 mins, severe diarrhea and nausea with vomiting, then got really hot, sweaty and dizzy so much for that!!!!

NUT sample meal is: Breakfast - 3 to 5 oz of hot cocoa with skim milk lunch - 3 to 5 oz of fat free cream Soup dinner - 3 to 5 oz fat free cream soup Yesterday I had a Protein shake for breakfast and followed the sample for lunch and dinner. Problem is even after the 5 oz of soup I am still hungry. I also split one Protein Shake after lunch and after dinner. With the soup I eat and Protein shakes I had approx 550 calories. How many calories should I be consuming at this point? I am still hungry and shaky throughout the day but dont want to overeat.

  15. Started by kczar,

I've been trying to lose a bit of weight before my surgery (six month wait due to insurance.) I've been reducing my calories and even started upping my Protein. This morning I realized that if I lose more than 22 pounds during my supervised diet, my BMI will drop below 40 and I wouldn't qualify for surgery. I "only" have one co-morbidity and my insurance requires two if you're BMi is below 40. Although I'm thankful insurance will cover it (and I've met my out of pocket maximum due to gallbladder surgery), it sucks that I could be penalized for being successful. So I guess I'll set a goal to lose 10-15 pounds until my paperwork goes in, which will either be end of July o…

  16. I'm just trying to figure out what the norm is. I have a friend who's lost over 20 pounds in 2 weeks, but I've only lost 10 (in 1 1/2 weeks). I hope this doesn't mean I'm going to be a slow loser!

I was sleeved April 27 (5 days ago) and I'm doing good! Thing is, I'm already so tired of the same things. The full liquids stage leaves me fast and leaves me feeling hungry. I've been eating yogurt, Cream of Wheat, soup, broth, sf jello, protein shakes...I need some varieties! Any new ideas?

  21. So had surgery in Mexico 4/20. The price was great but I am quickly finding out that some people seem so much more educated about what to eat and when. Some have a nut to talk to and even had classes to attend pre op. I recieved a hand out in Mexico and the rest of the info I get from here. Not that I am complaining because I am glad there was an affordable option for me. I am on full luquids. I drink 2 premier (30 grams of prot) twice a day. I eat about 1/4 or a little more soup for lunch. Dinner is about 1/4 of soup with unflavored protein (21 grams) mixed in. I drink constantly so I get in at min. 64 - 70 oz of liquid (including shakes) a day. Is this what I …

  26. Hi everyone, Well, I had the first appointment with the surgeon on March 28th. I have not meet with the nutritionist yet. My surgery will probably be anywhere from August to October. I hope it's in August, the sooner the better! I began to really start watching what I eat more carefully about 6 days ago. I downloaded an app called Myfitnesspal onto my daughter's Ipod so I can keep a food diary more easily. It really helps because I can keep track of my calorie intake each day and Water as well. So far I've managed to keep on track without going over. It hasn't been easy, sometimes I am hungry but I drink water to help me fill up. I am no longer drinking soda on …

Am I doing this right?

I am 26yrs old and currently at 275lbs. I have tried everything: weight watchers, hypnosis, hudroxycut, low calorie, daily exercise, phintermine, HGC injections and had little to no results and quickly gainned what little i lost back. The past 4 years my life has been dedicated to my job (which i love) working my way up to be the only female supervisor in our oilfield production plant. In doing this i tend to work 70+ hours a week, therefore not leaving much time for the gym. It was only easter weekend when i was on vacation visiting a friend and we took her little girls to the circus, the girls were dying to ride the elephant so up we went. Upon getting back into the …

13 days post op, allowed to have mushies. Waking up hungry, craving eating, just the physical act of eating. I'm happy with my foods: scrambled egg with bacon bits and cheese, refried beans with salsa and chobani yogurt. Just wishing I didn't experience any hunger or desire to eat. Sleeve feels fine. I eat between 500-600 calories a day, and am getting close to 50 grams of protein. According to surgeon's office, this is fine for now. I'm just having a hard time letting go.

Sleeved 4/11/12. Feeling really good. Eating consists of some cream of wheat then an hour or two later some Greek yoguart. A few hours later some creamy soup a few hours later some jello. This goes on all day. In between I'm drinking isopure and water or tea. Is this too much food. I'm not eating alot at each setting but I feel like I'm eating all the time. I don't want to hinder me loosing weight? Please advise. Thanks

Got a fruit infusion pitcher recently and just wanted to share how great it is. I was struggling with fluid intake since artificial sweeteners upset my stomach and I want to avoid sugary drinks and water was just getting boring. This pitcher adds just enough flavor to the water. I have been so excited to try different fruit I am drinking it so fast! I have done orange and strawberry so far and can't wait to try mint and lime. I add more water each night so you can keep the same fruit in there for about a week. http://www.amazon.com/Prodyne-Infusion-93-Ounce-Natural-Pitcher/dp/B0023UL86A

I'm still sampling protein powders and having an issue. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if my issue is just something I'm going to have to live with. I put my protein powder in a blender bottle and shake, shake, shake. No matter how much I shake, it still doesn't completely dissolve. It still has little "pieces" of protein powder in it. Is it something I'm doing or not doing or just something I'm gonna have to live with? Also, if I want to mix my powder in a warmed soup, how do I do that? Put the soup in the blender bottle? If so, do you warm it before or after the protein powder is in it? Thanks!

  42. Started by Joni,

Surgery will be here on 4/23, so this is my 9th day of preop diet. It started as the others. I decided to do some self-care. Dyed my hair, pedicure, etc., took a shower. When I got out, my husband had made some bacon. That's all I could smell. I got weak (plus I was hot from my shower). I laid down and asked him to open the windows and doors to let the smell out which he quickly did, feeling bad. I suddenly felt like I was so very hungry. I laid down and yelled, "I LOVE BACON" and started to cry. Really cry - and I stuttered out, "I want some pizza!" In about 5 minutes, with husband and daughter reassuring me it's almost over, I was okay. I had an Unjury protein drink. Ge…

I everyone! I really need your help. I have felt fantastic pretty much from day 1 since my surgery 3 weeks ago. Up until now I'm getting a bit depressed and am finding it hard to cope. I have advanced so quickly in my progress that I pretty much came out of hospital eating regular foods. It hurt if the peices were too big bit I chewed really well and in small amounts. It seems now I have gone a bit backwards. No matter how much I chew food seems to hurt going down and those shakes are far too sweet for me and make me fill I'll beyond belief! Food also makes me feel really nauseated to the point where I can't function, I feel weak and I need to lay down. Im seeing my surge…

So I don't actually start my ore-op diet until May 22 but I thought I better figure out what I like and don't like. I am finding that it won't be as bad as I thought I get to have 5 protien shakes or bars a day and one low cal low card meal. I ordered the sample packs of protien shakes from my bairiatric pantry so far they aren't that bad I wanted to try a bunch before really hitting it hard. You know in all the diets and the meeting Bout weight loss I've done the saying " food will never taste as good as THIN feels" well I'm ready to know that feeling.
