Today is day 1 for my full liquid stage in my post op diet. I only remember that my Doctor said cream of wheat and yogurt and I think he said cream Soup. What else can I have on full liquid stage. I tried yogurt today and I just took Greek yogurt and mix it with Protein powder ( Cookies and cream) it was like ice cream but I wasn't able to eat more then 3 tea spoon. later on I remember my favorite lassi and add the Water to it and blend and I was able to finish this drink. what other choices I can have on full liquid stage of post op diet. THANK YOU.

I am having a terrible time with thirst. I drink water but I miss Diet Coke. Can anyone tell me how to break this addiction? I haven't had one for 7 weeks and I still want one.

  4. Started by MirandaK,

Since I started on my Liquid phase of the preop diet. I have this weird sensation in my throat. It feels like there is an air bubble trapped or a full sensation like you need to burp. Hard to describe. I think it might be acid reflux. I've never experienced reflux before. I took two omerorazole and I didn't see any change. I'm not affected by this feeling just annoying. Any ideas?

  5. Started by Joisey01,

Day 1 of the pre-op liquid diet wasn't horrible. As a general rule, the Protein shakes are easy for me to tolerate. This brand, the doctor requires us to use since it will give the same results for shrinking the liver for every single patient. The smell of this protein is really hard to take. I've got the vanilla brand so that I can add a variety of flavors. No matter what I have added for flavor has not helped one bit. I got 3 shakes in so far. Need to get 2 more in before bed. I have all of my Fluid requirements in already, but will continue to sip for the rest of the evening. I have some Jello in the fridge and popsicles in the freezer. I WILL DO THIS!

  6. Started by froma2toa1,

i am closing in on the final days of my two week pre op liquid diet. So far I am only down 4 lbs. I have read so many success stories of people losign 15 or even 20lbs on the pre op. Now I am terrified that this whole thing will not work for me. I do not see myself getting anywhere close to the 15lbs loss mark before my surgery. My doctor didn't say anything about having to lose a certain amount before surgery - but I have heard 10lbs is key for liver reduction. Clearly I am freaking myself out - but any insight or positive reinforcement would be super helpful. Surgery is Sept. 19th.

  10. Started by jennrus,

I'm 6 weeks out and want to try corn on the cob. Thoughts?

  11. Started by butter-fly,

So.... I will be on the full liquid phase when I weekend with my step-dad, sister and brother-in-law. I won't be telling them about surgery (can't stand the judgement I know I'll get) but KNOW they will wonder why I'm only cosuming liquids. Any ideas on excuses I could give? Help?

  12. My Dr. puts us on a 3-week Pre-op. Diet consisting on one meal (prob. Dinner) of protein and veggies with 3 "protein meals". I ordered Unjury unflavored whey protein powder for smoothies and they have a chicken broth that's high protein for lunch. I'm dreading this phase- hardly any chewing involved and was hoping there's a high protein meal replacement bar to add to the menu. I suppose that compared to the clear liquid phase, this will feel like a feeding frenzy! Also, all the talk about Muscle Milk- is it high protein?

Hi Everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful Sunday. It's nice and cool here in Texas with a temperature of 71°. Before I started my liquied pre-op diet, I was afraid of getting my infamous hunger headaches which turn into migraines 9 out of 10 times. I have not had 1 headache! With only 800 calories a day, I was afraid. Switching over to the GNC Lean shake 25 has made a huge difference. It actually fills me up! I'm down a total of 8 lbs since I started on Thursday.

  17. Started by kellyq,

I had my one week post op surgical appointment today and also met with the NUT. I was excited knowing I was moving to pureed foods today as per the plan by my surgeon. According to my surgeons plan, I can have eggs, yogurt, applesauce, tuna fish, canned chicken, ricotta, cottage cheese, cream of wheat.....etc. Now that I got the OK to have these foods, I'm now afraid to have them as well. Ever since I've been reading these boards, I've been seeing that most people are on liquids only for 2-4 weeks post op. I then read about the "leaks" and well.....that scares me more! The NUT did say if I was comfortable and wanted to stay on liquids a little longer, I could. Th…

  18. Started by made2beme,

Not cottage or ricotta, but things like BabyBells, Laughing cow wedges, Mozzarella, Provolone? Can I just cut off chunk of cheese and take a bite? I am totally a cheese freak....been missing it for weeks and had some melted monterry jack on my refried Beans but it just melted right in, not like cheese by itself. If I can have cheese.....aaahhhh, I will be in heaven!

My SW was 250 day of surgery I was 241 and today I'm stalling btw 218-220 it keeps bouncing. Am I doing well on my weight loss? I'm 7 weeks out today and would love to hear to opinions. I'm eating 600-700 if I'm lucky in calories daily. I walk the treadmill for 45-60 min at a 7.5 incline and/ or do the elliptical for the same amount of time (4-5 days a week) I work six days a week on top of that and constantly on my feet 45-50 hours in a restaurant. I start pureed food Friday and I'm SO READY! I'm sick of my liquid options. Tell me what your favorites are...

  22. Started by Joisey01,

I started my liquid pre-op diet yesterday. The Protein shakes are a brand that the surgeon requires us to use. That way everyone has expected results with shrinking the liver prior to surgery. Well, I gave it the good ole college try. The smell of the protein triggered the gag reflex. I didn't give up, tho. I gave it 5 tries. Five failures. Since this morning was my pre-op testing, I had to fast for the blood work. It was not a problem. Came home and failed again with another shake. I called the surgeon's office to talk to the nurse. After a short chat, she advised that I could switch to the Protein Shakes I already had. I was finally able to have one.…

What does eating too fast mean to you? How long does it take to eat a meal, snack, 1/2 cup or so? Trying to practice some now. How many times are you chewing? I am amazed about different food tastes completely chewed up. Sometimes, not so good. Thanks in advance! Still using small utensils?

  25. Started by made2beme,

Hey guys, I am 5 wks out this Friday and I am pretty much eating Breakfast, lunch and dinner with 1 maybe 2 Snacks through the day. Just wondering what you all pick up when you are a little hungry in between that is good, Protein rich and quick/easy? I have been having a slice of turkey lunchmeat or a reduced fat string cheese or babybell, etc. Pretty much feels almost like a meal to me because I get full, but I know it is not. So, just curious what else do you have just during those in between....especially if you are busy out running around or something, you are hungry and frankly it is time to eat but you arent home and cant eat a real meal? Ideas?

I do not like the smell or taste...what next. I tried some creamy ckn soup earlier and I was able to handle it. I can not tolerate plain water any more. I can drink sf tea. Crystal lights are way to sweet. I have some chike samples I will try tomorrow. Bad thing I am not getting in all my fluids or protein. ...

  28. Started by slimmom24angels,

Hello Fellow Sleevers, I am having a hard time with digesting different liquids. Crystal Light, jello, and now Atkins shakes are giving me extreme gas. I am trying to be lady like btw. I believe it must be the aspartame in the CL and jello, and the shakes apparently are not lactose free. My DH brought the shakes home, I told him to get Boost Glucose Control. I am lactose intolerant. What are some more suggestions for liquids to consume? I am suffering here, and I just want to eat something. I am down to water and popsicles only, can't keep going like this. Help?

  29. Started by tiffers,

I was told by my surgeon not to eat any red meat post op (ever) because it doesn't pass well through the sleeve. However, after being a part of this group for a few months, I see that several people eat it. Has anyone had any issues with red meat post op? I didn't really eat a whole lot of red meat pre-op, but sometimes my body just craves it. I'm a little nervous to try it now. Any advice, tips, horror stories?

I've enjoyed the boca burger with cheese and the meal starters. I may only be able to tolerate 5-6 small bites but they are protein packed and very soft ( in the soft food phase) . Finding foods that I like has been hard but these taste good to me

  33. Started by Joisey01,

Good morning everyone! I hope you're all doing well! I have never liked the aftertaste of artificial sweeteners. Lord knows I've tried over and over to just get over it and drink it anyway. Now that I'm faced with the liquid diet for pre-op, (I start Thursday the 6th) I have dreaded the Water part of it a little. Although 2 weeks isn't forever, I know that drinking that much water all of the time would get b-o-r-i-n-g. I came across an article somewhere and read that artificial sweeteners are 600 times sweeter than sugar! 600 times! No wonder I don't like them! I don't like sweets at all! This bit of trivia got me thinking. If artificial sweeteners are THAT …

These boards have been a lifesaver for a pre-op's like me to ask questions and seek advice on how others have experienced this surgery and I love it! I want your advice. However, I have been told and I have read where others have been told (frequently) by members on this forum that they should "really get professional help for their issues with food". Can I just say "Duh" to all of those that feel the need to say this. Of course we do and ya know what? So do you! We all do or we wouldn't be in this situaiton. After many failed attempts at dieting I went to a LPC and it didn't help one bit. I just gained more weight and felt like a bigger failure. None of us should be so q…

  37. Hello, I 'm finding it difficult to transition from full liquids to mushy foods, I was sleeved Aug 18th. So far I've tried refried beans with cheese and instant mash potatoes . I measure everything and so far 1/4 to 1/2 cup servings. My concern is that it will stall weight loss. So far I've noticed the majority of people follow a low carb diet. So my question for the experienced sleevers is what did you find helpful in this stage? Also what did you focus on measuring calories or carbs per day once you resumed regular foods, if so what kind of range? So far Im getting in between 50 to 60 gms protein and 64oz water a day with the protein shakes . My NUT recommends nothin…

Well, Beloved, I learned a lesson today, one that I've read of on here before. Today I just wasn't very hungry. I didn't have Breakfast. I drank 25% of an Isopure and had some chicken broth mid afternoon. I only drank 30ish oz of fluids. I had surgery Monday, August 20, 2012. Guess what, I got light headed and dizzy tonight. Thank goodness for chick broth and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Chicken Soup Protein powder! Lesson learned and a word to all my follow new sleevers: eat even if you don't feel hungry!

Felt really yucky last night. My stomach ached and today super tired, a little dizzy and feel like I'm starving physically but not hungry. Very strange sensation. Just can't eat. Headache and really, really irritable. Just want to chow down to feel better but can't. Unsure what to do. Been drinking and then try waiting 30 mnts to eat and get distracted then drink more so have to wait another 30 mnts then repeat all day. Ahhhhh... frustrated today. 30 lbs down and not one person has said anything. Feel over all discouraged today. Hmph.

  49. Started by mrvsbhs,

It's been a month since my sleeve. I did the liquid diet for a week, then full liquids for another. Ever since that, I'm been good with most solid food. I do chew it into a complete pulp, but no problems at all. I have not had any kind of pasta, pizza, soft breads or tomato products. Worried they will make me sick. Is it normal to have no foods that give me no problems? I have been losing, about 40 lbs since the week pre op diet.

  50. Started by melting me,

Good day all. I am 15 days out from surgery, I have stopped losing weight. Not an ounce in 5 days. I have been very active walking about 30-45 minutes per day. I have been consuming my protein and water. No mush allowed for another week. Is this normal? Any advice to get things going again?
