I am six weeks post op... I am looking for a low carb snack AND I have been craving cucumbers... Is there any reason I should not eat them? My doc is super strict - he only allows fish and eggs and I am SICK of fish and eggs...

Ok...I'm not sure if I'm over thinking this. Or maybe I'm not that good with numbers. But I'm 5 days post op...on a full liquid diet and required/expected to get in 6 "meals" a day. 3 of them must be 8 oz protein shakes with 20-30 hm of protein per serving. Now my calorie goal is 400-600 calories a day. But one 8 oz protein drink contains 210 calories...drinking that 3 times a day is about 630 calories. I've already exceeded my caloric intake with the shakes alone! This does not include the "breakfast, lunch and dinner" full liquid meals! Am I doing something wrong??

So, I'm 1 week post op and I'm mourning food and the prospect of ever being able to eat more then dainty portions again... I'm surrounded by people who are of normal builds who can eat a whole plate of food or a cheeseburger and fries and still maintain their normal size. It frightens me to think that I will never be able to finish a cheeseburger or indulge and eat a whole plate of Thanksgiving food. I understand that my size and lifestyle prior to the sleeve wasn't normal either, but I have serious anxiety about never being able to guzzle a bottle of water or finish a sandwich again. Is this just the price I have to pay? Will I ever be able to do these things again? Ult…

I'm on my 10 day pre op diet and I'm suppose to have protein shakes twice a day in addition to other liquids. But.. my problem is... I don't care for the powder whey protein. I found a liquid protein its the new whey protein and I can mix it w water and add a little crystal light to it and its great.. so I was wondering if I could do that or if I needed the powder as well?? It has 42g of protein in it. I can't ask my dietician until tomorrow. Any advice is helpful..

I purchased some UnJury chicken soup, it said not to use hot water. Yak, Luke warm soup is not appealing. Then I tried there strawberry shake, again temperature sensitive. If you can't ice it what's the use? They all seemed to clump no matter what I did, in coffee it was extremely gross. Any ideas?

Soooooo... I am having a really hard time identifying the satisfied cue... I am three weeks post op... For example, if I am eating Soup, 8 bites might be what I need... But on bite (spoonful) 8, I don't feel anything... On bite 9 - it is PAINFULLY clear that I should have stopped at 8... Last night, I had two tsp of tuna on two ritz crackers... I was not sated, but I went to bed... Tonight, I ate much earlier and prepared FOUR tsp of tuna on four crackers... All went down fine... Then, pain... I threw it up... So, I guess the serving should be THREE... But why can't I feel when to stop before passing the point of no return? This is a really painful way to learn portion …

Of course I might just be over thinking everything because I'm a paranoid freak BUT I have been having some "symptoms" recently and I'm not sure if I should worry. I had my surgery a week ago, Nov 5th. and I feel fine for the most part but I notice when I walk straight for more than 10-15 minutes I begin to feel short or breath, dizzy, and EXHAUSTED!! I've been trying to call my doc but it seems because of the holiday nobody is in so any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated! By the way I do admit I can be drinking more water but if I'm not drinking water I make sure to replace it with a Popsicle or other clear liquid... Thank You!

As anyone found that in the time between finding out you are having the surgery and the start of your pre-op diet, at they suddenly start wasting just for the sake of it? It's almost like I subconsciously am eating everything possible because I know that in a couple of weeks I will be unable to. I've gained so much weight, so very quickly. I'm also drinking a lot of alcohol too . But I just can't stop!!!

How long after surgery was it until you went to purée? I have a 3 week post op liquid diet. I am 13 days out and would really like to add just Greek yogurt into my diet. I need a new source of protein, the shakes are starting to make me sick after 4 straight weeks of them.

The last few days I have been dreading my multivitamin for some reason, they just kept feeling ickier and ickier. Today I chewed them up, swallowed, and immediately felt like I was going to vomit. I was in the middle of a conference call or I would have. Has anyone else lost their tolerance for the chewable vitamins? What happens now?

My husband is making a cabbage soup with boiled cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, green onions and canned tomatoes. He also adds a couple beef bouillon cubes. I'm four days post op. Reckon it would be ok if I had some of the juice? This will be my first savory meal since surgery. I've only had popsicles, pudding, and jello. Can anyone recommend any cream soups as well?

I recently had my surgery. I'm not even a month out yet. I'm currently eating soft foods right now. I know I'm still too early to eat red meat and pork, but when I'm able to start eating dinner with my family again. Can I eat red meat and pork? My doctor (who seems to be EXTREMELY strict compared to everyone elses' doctor on this forum) basically told me no red meat or pork for atleast a year. This seems alittle insane to me. He said it's hard to digest and it's very unhealthy. I understand that a pound of bacon is no longer acceptable, but I really don't see anything wrong with eating a small hamburger with my family this summer. What is everyone else being told…

I was wondering if anyone had/has to do the 3 and 2 diet? This is where you eat/drink 3 shakes or protein bars, and 2 green meals a day. I am started this diet Monday for the next three months and I was wondering if anyone else had to do a diet like this, and how it was? I'm so scared I'm going to be hungry..which I probably will..lol. Any tips would be great!

don't always have time to make something ahead of time for lunch when I head out the door for work. . Wondering what frozen meals you like best. Especially if they are lower carb and decent protien? Smart ones, healthy choice, kashi, lean cuisine?

After being on a full liquid diet for almost 3 weeks I tried some roast beef hash today for lunch. I ate a little over 3 oz worth and I feel super full... Thanksgiving day full! This is fantastic. For the first time in my life I am not controlled by hunger. I don't feel it every waking minute of every day. I don't sit at my desk and wait for lunch time. I don't have to eat lunch then 45 minutes later wonder what I am going to do for dinner. I feel like such a huge weight has been lifted off my life that I just had to share it! I admit I am cheating a little bit. I'm not supposed to be on pureed foods until Wednesday. My NUT is very strict with liquids 2 days af…

I am on the phase two (lasts 5 weeks after operation) diet for the gastric sleeve. I can have creamed soup, oatmeal, malt o meal, jello etc..I am curious as to why I can't have cooked egg whites or cottage cheese. The consistency of oatmeal flakes is much rougher (or even malt o meal) than an egg white that has the consistency of jello, or cottage cheese. Is there a particular reason for this because I could sure use the protein. I don't want to hurt/stretch etc.. my stomach but I am just wondering why other soft foods like cottage cheese and egg whites aren't on the list. They contain protein and I don't see how they could damage your stomach if something as coarse as oat…

Had a customer tell me her daughter bought a Yogurt Maker after her surgery and loves it. She has never sampled the finished product, but says her daughter loves it and uses it all the time. Has anyone here bought one? If so what are your thoughts on making your own yogurt??
