Tomorrow will be a week since I've been sleeved and things have been going great. The only craving I have had was for pickles and it was really intense. I googled it, of course, and as it turns out this is a common craving and one people satisfy with pickle juice. It is actually a clear liquid. Well I ran out and got some and it is amazing! Anyone else? lol

I am starting my preop diet tomorrow and I was given two choices. A. Follow the diet they give me which is protein and low fat options. B. Shake for morning shake for lunch and a high protein low fat for dinner. I am leaning towards the shakes because I read that you can lose more weight and it is just easier for me. Wanted to see others inputs on here that have either gone through it or are going through it now. Also I would liek to have some recommendations on what shakes are good and which are bad taste wise and quality and price. Thanks Everyone

Has anyone tried Muscle Milk? If so, do you like it? Is that something you can have in the full liquids stage? I'm asking because I can get a 4 pack for $4.99 (sale + coupons), & sale ends Sunday. So just wondered if I should get some? Also which flavor do you like best? Thanks!

ok....I am about 5 months post sleeve. I am down to about 195. What should my Protein intake be per day? I am mostly sedentary, but I try to work out about 3 times per week. I take daily Vitamins. I still do not eat much, but I drink Protein shakes. 3-4 per day, 25 grams of protein each. But, here is my question: should I drink 3 or 4? 75 or 100 grams per day? I am 52 years old.

  9. Okay if someone tells me to ask my dr I'm gonna be annoyed because I know but I always ask here first. So far my new stomach can handle everything I've tried. I do realize fluids are a lot different then puréed foods but I just thought I'd ask. I'm starving. I drink my fluid and then get hungry like 15-20 min later. If I can handle puréed food, will it hurt my sleeve? I'll be 2 weeks tomorrow.

Hey everybody, Just curious if anyone has a copy of the pre-op diet their doctor prescribed them and if they could post it. I don't have a surgery date and actually have not made my mind up 100 percent for surgery (as I already have the lap band) but I would like to follow the pre-op diet to help me lose some weight right now. I swear I am steadily gaining and it is really taking its toll on me! Mentally and physically.

  11. now don't worry. i know i've posted before back when i was just 10 days out. but now i'm almost 2 months out and i really feel good. i can eat meat, chicken, and fish. i can eat baked crackers. i've even tried soft Pasta. (small ravioli) all SMALL PORTIONS of course. i don't want to ruin or hurt myself or my sleeve. I've even tried a little bread and some whole wheat wrap. i am NOT eating sandwiches or subs or bowls of pasta or anything like that. NO fries and no burgers or anything. just a nibble of bread and pasta here and there. and once and a while..some baked crackers. NOT greasy chips. NO ice cream and no pastry. I must admit i've been really lucky. no nausea…

  13. hi guys me again, so i'm almost 7 weeks post op and today i took my vitamins and had some water. had a little fruit and some p.b. then for lunch i had my chili. split it into 2 portions. i noticed i ate the 2nd half pretty fast. this was around 1:00pm. so now 3 and 1/2 hours later i am still paying for it. i feel "stuck" and like i need to burp but i can't. my nose is running but could be my cold. no hiccups as of yet. but earlier like right after my stomach did hurt a bit. now my belly and sides just feel achy a bit. i was working thru lunch and trying to eat so it's my fault. i know i ate too fast. but like i said, it was soft chili with beans. it wasn't a steak or ham…

  14. I have been told no pasta or rice until 4-6 months post op. However, when can I introduce crackers, bread? What was everyone else eating at six weeks post op?

Started my pre-op diet a week ago today and I have been following it for the most part. I have to drink 2 protein shakes a day and eat 4 ounces of meat and 1 cup of veggies. I am so hungry after that but I did have my pre-op dr. appt and I went down from 269.8 to 256.4 so I guess I am doing something right lol. My doctor put me on this to shrink my liver but I am so hungry....is anyone else suffering with me lol...anyways on a brighter note my surgery date is 3/25/13 and I am super excited for this life change but super nervous at the same time!!!!!

  20. 4 days post op! I want meat!!! Desperately! I can't stand these protein supplements. I want to chew something! I thought it would be easier that this. Now I see how people end up back in the Er after downing a burrito. My hubby is back from the store with chicken fries, flaming hot Funyuns, hot dogs.. By no means a steak, but it feels that way right now. Lord please let that food aversion kick in soon or I will be doomed!!

I got sleeved 5 days ago. I came home from the hospital Thursday, today is Saturday. I just added up what I have been eating realized I am consuming about 100 calories and 12g Protein. I am trying, but I.just can't fit much in my sleeve without feeling sick. Is this normal this soon post-op? Or should I be concerned? I am still on full liquids and move to puree in about 5 days. Thanks.

Would it be so bad to go ahead and do a little laughing cow cheese or pudding or jello once a day until Monday? I'm about to be 3 weeks postop and im dying over here!

Met with my nutritionist today and I am officially allowed to eat anything I want. I've not demonstrated any food intolerances and need to boost my Protein and caloric intake. It's weird though because I don't really don't feel like introducing anything new. The purpose of this post is to give people encouragement and hope that life gets pretty normal regarding food and as long as you stick to the basics and listen to your body, you'll do great!

I am on morning 5 after surgery. I have had my roughest evening last night, it started late afternoon with large amounts of painfull gas and diarrhea. As the evening progressed I started feeling pain in my left shoulder and the left side of my abdomen, the pain was bad enough to make me come real close to passing out, my vision started to narrow and my hearing declined. I laid back in the recliner for a while feeling like I had nails driven through my shoulder whenever I moved in the slightest. I stayed like that for about 45 minutes, my wife got me 2 Hydrocordones which helped for awhile. This being Sunday evening I thought it would be useless to try to contact my surgeo…

Does anyone know of any simple foods to add to get a protein boost in my day? I know that many people add unflavored protein to their meals, but I'm looking for something different if at all possible. I have a hard time tolerating any powdered proteins. I'm falling short on my protein most days, but I don't want to add anything that's going to add anything but protein. I have room for more calories, as I'm averaging about 450 every day. I just can't quite eat enough at a meal yet to add more meat.

Title says it all. food has lost its stronghold on me. I found myself feeling a bit depressed while hovering over my fifth of a chipotle burrito bowl not knowing why when it hit me - I was not nearly as happy to be eating that as I used too. Food has lost its shine. I dont have anything to ask, I just thought I would share. I suppose its a good thing I am working and have somewhere else to put my focus because a few weeks ago I think this could have thrown me into a major depression.

I was not much of a pop/soda drinker, but now that I cannot have a diet coke or diet vernors, I am so missing it. Watching my husband guzzle down a diet coke kills me. So, what alternatives to refreshing drinks do you like, even with small sips. And are small sips a "forever" thing?

I keep finding that things I used to like I no longer can stand after surgery. For instance, I have loved apple juice my entire life but cannot drink it to the point of gaging since surgery. I also cannot stand the flavor of jellos. I also now LOVE gatorade. Never even liked the stuff before but now it's the best thing since sliced bread. Same experience with some gravy my mom made the other day and some soup I made. Before I would have thought it was okay or not a big deal now it tastes soo super good. Anyone else experiencing this?

Hi everyone! I had a nutritionist appointment last Thursday where she told me to increase my overall caloric intake and especially my carbs. I was one of those die hards staying between 20-50 carbs a day. She told me to not worry about it. To add fruits and veggies and some whole grains, too. She also told me to get my Protein but don't obsess over it. She claims I am healed and dont' need 100g protein a day... for such a shortie like me 50-60 is perfect she said. So happy to rid of those nasty protein shakes! Well, since doing this for four days, I'm happy to report I think she was right! I have dropped 3 pounds since Thursday...in the 170s woop woop!!! I bought some Atkins Frozen meals over the weekend to have something quick to make instead of just grabbing anything..Today I had the Breakfast roll-ups and the Italian Sausage Primavera. They are very good. The roll-ups had four in the box and all I need to eat for lunch was one. I will have 3 more meals out of it.I will also get at least 2 meals out of the sausage dish. I have a few more in the freezer to try. nAnyone else try these? Just thought I would give my thoughts on them. Tina

My NUT said that once I get to puréed foods that I could have 1.5 oz of Protein food (meat) and 1.5 oz of Fiber food (fruit OR veggie). I decided, since my husband and daughter were having pizza to take a couple small meatballs (like 3) and 2 TBSP of seasoned tomato sauce and purée it....I put it in the small food processor that we have and it seemed to break it down a bit but mostly just threw the ingredients on the side of the processor :-/ I kept taking a spoon and pushing it down and trying again but finally just gave up.
