Ill be vacationing at Panama City Beach a month after surgery and I was wondering if smoked tuna dip would count as a soft food. My guess is yes but wasn't sure. I'm also considering trying baked oysters if I'm allowed to.

Anyone help a computer challenged person? I haven't input my measurements in since I was preop. Did them today, but only shows 3 months progress. Anyway to get back to show originals since I've already forgotten them?! I'm 7 months out. Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm 5 months post-op and my NUT wants me to stay under 800 calories per day. I'm wondering if this is typical. It's hard to meet my protein goal and stay under 800 calories.

Hi everyone, This is my first day to join this forum and my first time posting. I had my surgery four days ago and I am recovering ok, but I must admit I am having a really difficult time with the post-op protein shakes. I have not found one that I even halfway like and it's really difficult forcing myself to down them. During the pre-op diet, I would just power through them and force them down fairly quickly, but post-surgery that's not possible and I find them so disgusting, it's making it difficult to get my protein in for the day. Since have at least three more weeks of this to go, I'm looking for some alternatives. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, did you…

I would like to share a happy story. I am 5 weeks post op and went out to eat for the first time as I am now allowed to eat almost anything. I went to Panera and got the pick two (brocolli cheddar soup and strawberry poppyseed salad). I was a bit scared so I slowly ate half the brocolli cheddar soup and had no problem. I had a few bites of the baguette and no problem. Maybe I can be normal. I took the salad home and had half and it was delicious. I was so happy that I was able to eat a normal meal (although much less than I would normally eat) and feel happy to go out with friends again. My sleeve is working for me. I have lost 32 lbs since my pre op diet started…

Hi, I will be 3 months out on the 25th and I am at a stall going up and down the same 2-3 lbs for a while now. I try to focus on protein first but I do have a bite of this and that that have carbs in it. What is everyone eating? Should we be eating everything? I'm confused with the little amount of food that I eat that I should be losing a ton. Help!!!

I am on the full liquid diet that I was oh so happy to begin with 3 days left of full liquids before I can move to the purees. I am so hungry all the time now after never being feeling no hunger at all. At day 3 post op I was allowed to add sugar free yogurt and strained 98% fat free Soups. Prior to surgery I had a serious lactose intolerance and it has apparently gotten much worse after being sleeved. I tried both and there is no way I can deal with the constant bubbling in my stomach after a 4oz serving. So, basically I am still on the Clear Liquids and I am as hungry as a bear. Did anyone else have this issue? How did you make it through the full liquids witho…

I am 12 days out today, and it was a very discouraging day--food-wise, that is...it is my 12th day of liquids only, and I am really getting tired of it...and I am so hungry--true hunger--not the head hunger stuff...today was my nephew's graduation and after-party, and I was around food all afternoon...chips and salsa, queso dip, spinach dip, pizza, and homemade chocolate cupcakes...and I just had my bottled water to sip on...I know I sound like a cry-baby, and I should be focusing on the fact that I've had a very smooth recovery so far with little discomfort...I should be grateful for that, and I feel a little guilty for complaining, but I really just want some food--even…

Hey, I am about 6 1/2 months out and nearing my goal weight. I can eat just about anything, not that I do. However I am trying to figure what my "lifetime" diet is going to look like. A lot of people are doing gluten free diets on here and the Paleo diet. To be honest all this is confusing to me. My Nut here is not very much help as she keeps telling me it will very from person to person and I have to find what works best for me. I appreciate that she's all for doing what's right for my body, but I could use some basic guide lines. Like what should my life long calorie intake should be, right now I'm normally around 800. Is that where it should stay. Anyways thanks for a…

Just tried ff Hidden Valley ranch dressing while vacationing in Kauai and it was disgusting! I like their light dressing but their FF didn't even really taste like ranch and had some sort of chemical aftertaste. Where is Bolthouse farms dressing when I need it? A good alternative was tzatziki sauce...soo flavorful on a steak salad! Thank you Costco! It's been fun trying to eat on the cheap and healthfully while in paradise and my husband and I have been successful for the most part!

Does anyone have any recommendations for water flavorings other than Crystal Light? I'm trying to stay away from aspartame but haven't been able to find a good alternative. Before I was sleeved I used to drink crystal light regularly and now I'm not drinking nearly as much as before. I think it is because plain water bores me. I need some taste!

I am pre-op, and trying to start on cutting back on the sugar intake. This will be the hardest for me, so best to start early! I will do the pre-op diet 1 week before surgery. Here's my deal....I can drink CL, but it increases my stomach acid. I really want to barf right now...but need the Water. Does anyone else have this problem? I am already on Prilosec (Rx'ed 40mg, 2 times a day), and this has no effect! I believe it is the artificial sweetener that is causing this. Any suggestions on what else I can drink? I just hate plain water. I already have unsweet tea and green teas on the list, but I sure do like fruity flavors. Thanks!

I'm wondering how to up my Fiber intake while still limiting my carbs. I know some people count their carbs by subtracting the dietary fiber from it, but I don't understand how that works. I love it in theory, because then I could enjoy some carbs with much less guilt, but I need to know why this is a 'thing' and how it works... if anyone can clearly explain it or knows of a site that would be helpful, I'd appreciate it. Also, how do you get your fiber in? I tried supplements pre and post op and they haven't helped. The only thing I can seem to do to stay regular is take Colace or Milk of Magnesia, and I'd really like to figure out a balance so I don't have to rely on …

I had surgery April 24th. Still can't get my calorie count past 570. I am doing puréed and just don't have enough hours in the day to get my fluids and food in! I eat and am full for at least an hour. Then have to work in some fluids before I eat again otherwise I would not get my fluids in. It's been hard and I am afraid I am going to stall out because my body will think I am starving it! At this point post op, should I be able to get to 1000 calories? Someone level set me...cause I am worried about my ability to get my calories in each day. Sent from my iPad using VST

So I know that we need 60-70 grams of protein everyday but can anyone tell me how much calories, fat etc. a day or does it matter or not. I'm just confused. I asked my NUT & she basically said don't worry about it because I'm very diligent about getting my water & proper protein (never more than about 3oz at a time) everyday. I'm 1 month out so I don't have room or time to get anything other than water & protein in. I tried to tell her that I think that info would help me choose the correct items long term to eat but i was kinda blown off. I'm a hairdresser who travels so I have no free time for much prep. & really no time to be eating all day. So what I …

I had surgery on March 19th and the first month was fine. Now for the past 2 weeks I have had a really hard time getting water down. When I take a drink it upsets my stomach. I really have to take small sips and because it upsets my stomach I have been trying to avoid water. I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem? It doesn't bother my stomach when I have a protein shake.

OK so I know I need to buy my pre-op diet from my NUT but the post op diet is optional ...and 300 dollars that I really don't have. So does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of vitamins or protein to get? Or should I consider getting the post- op diet from the NUT?

Just had my first pureed food tonight. I took some refried beans, mixed in some greek yogurt and Chohula Sauce. Stirred it all together and scooped into muffin pans (purely for portion control). Topped with cheese and heated in the oven. Yum! I really have missed savory flavors other than cream of chicken soup : ) Cant wait to decide what to puree tomorrow!

Hello everyone! It has been a week as of today since I was sleeved and I'm struggling!! I am trying so hard to get my 64oz of Water in as well as my 65g of Protein (in shakes, since I am on a 21 day full liquids only diet). I just can't seem to do it and I'm feeling hunger pangs (or at least I think I am.) Has anyone ran into this or have any suggestions? I have a family too so watching them eat food just makes me feel sad and impotent because I know I'm not getting the fluids or nutrition I need and food looks amazing. Please HELP!! I welcome any feedback about some of my concerns...I am one week out from my surgery and have not taken any of my diabetes meds since I came home from the hospital...my PCP advised me not to take them unless my glucose levels were consistently over 150...well, I have not been pleased so far, because I've had a few readings as high as 200 I am concerned because I am hardly taking in any calories (definitely less than 800 daily) and no carbs...I thought for sure my levels would stay below 150, but I guess not...I was truly optimistic that I might be one of those diabetics who post-VSG never had to take meds again...I was just wondering if anyone could share their experien…

hello, I couldn't post in the veterans forum for some reason so this forum seems as close as it gets: i'm 3 years post op and the last 2 years my weight is optimal and steady. the last few months though I took a few pounds by eating junk in front of the TV......this 10 pounds I like too loose now......but how? I already eat about 200 grams per meal, 3 times a day. that is exactly the same amount since I got sleeved, it just doesn't work as it did. (back then,my doctor told me this would happen) should I eat even less??? it seems too extreme. what is a acceptable "veteran" diet to loose a few pound?

This morning I took a trip to Publix. My wife usually does the shopping. But since this is a journey and logistical reasons, she cannot be here for a few more days. I am starting the Pureed Foods today. I thought I would just go down to buy some canned chicken and some mustard, onion and whip up something. After doing it. I threw it out. I gave it to my dog, and he just walked away from the bowl. I found out how unprepared I really am. Is there a link somewhere that someone had done a basic plan. I have to do Pureed for 3 weeks.

I started my liquid diet Monday, April 29. The first three days were the hardest for me hunger wise. On the third day I snapped at some co-workers and felt bad about it because I'm not that type of person. The next day I was emotionally fine and my hunger went away, and for the most part I've had no problems at all. Lately though, the last four days, I feel like I'm an emotional roller coaster - one minute I am fine, and something, one tiny thing will set me off and I am in a foul mood and depressed. Now, I am comfortable saying this because I don't know any of you, but I have been on Effexor since August of 2011, and it has worked great. Not sure if I'm starting …

Ok so im moving from puree to soft foods. Been eating some Furina with about a half teaspoon of brown sugar and a tiny bit of margarine. Lunch ive been having some no bean chili and I put a couple oyster crackers and a pinvh of sharp cheddar. All these things ive tolerated well. My question is if I eat till I feel full I get a weird discomfort just below my rib cage. If I back off a spoon or two I get hungry like 5 minutes later. Ugh. Any suggestions?
