discouraged today

I am 12 days out today, and it was a very discouraging day--food-wise, that is...it is my 12th day of liquids only, and I am really getting tired of it...and I am so hungry--true hunger--not the head hunger stuff...today was my nephew's graduation and after-party, and I was around food all afternoon...chips and salsa, queso dip, spinach dip, pizza, and homemade chocolate cupcakes...and I just had my bottled water to sip on...I know I sound like a cry-baby, and I should be focusing on the fact that I've had a very smooth recovery so far with little discomfort...I should be grateful for that, and I feel a little guilty for complaining, but I really just want some food--even if it's just a few bites...today is the first day where I've really started to have doubts about being able to do this...I have an appointment with the dietitian on Monday afternoon...I hope she can give me some encouragement and the go-ahead to move on to soft foods...thanks for listening to my vent

It gets better, I promise!!!! No, actually, it gets FANTASTIC!

With each day, you are getting healthier and healthier and one day closer to no food restrictions. Once you have a variety of foods to choose from, you'll forget all about the dreaded post-op liquid phase.

Hang in there - you're worth it!

Have you tried cream of ______ soups and cottage cheese? Those 2 were my saving grace.

thanks, y'all...actually I had some cream of chicken soup tonight, and it did help quite a bit...just having something a little warm in my tummy helped

It really does get better : )

Try baby food. Some of it can be pretty tasty

Omg I'm 11 days out and I hate it, I want food so bad, everyone keeps saying it will get better, but when!!! I'm have 4 more weeks of the same boring foods to eat, I don't know how I'm going to do it

Are you on a PPI? That can help.

I was the exact same way. I was suppose to stick w clears but went ahead and added full liquids. I am sure my doctor will slap my wrist Monday. But then again if he doesn't move me to puréed I may bite his head off!

Today is day 14...finally tomorrow I can progress to soft foods...I am not sure I could have taken this liquid diet another day...I am a little worried about expanding my diet, but I am at my wit's end here...I am definitely feeling real hunger, plus my energy is almost totally zapped...I am grateful for no physical complications, but I need some food

I completely understand how you feel. This Saturday makes my two months. I'm so excited to have salad, bread, protein bars, and cereal. Like literally I can't wait.. In the beginning it was super hard for me also. They people I work with we're constantly ordering from pizza places and subway whatever other places cheeseburger in paradise ah! Made me crazy. But eventually I got used to it. Each phase gets easier. Best thing to do is try to get full off of what u are able to eat. I drank a lot of boost vanilla, it was the only thing that made me full and tasted good. Best wishes!
