I am so frustrated with trying to get my carb levels down my doctor recommends 60-80g carbs per day but it does not specify how I'm suppose to keep them that low. I am using Lose It! App to track my food intake. I know many of you use My Fitness Pal and maybe the tracking is different on that App. I know many of you say you keep your carbs as low as 40g a day or I have even heard 10g a day. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? For example did you know that one little apple has 25g carbs?? So what are you guys out there eating- MEAT only!? No fruits or veggies or whole grains? I am just so scared I am going to fail at this :,(! I have not had a single "bad carb" for months so i know my…

Ok so I'm kind of in love with pouched foods. These are just an example of some that I bought at the store but I also have a contraption that allows me to create my own pouches at home with whatever I want! Love love love love even though it's baby food lol!

I was holding off grocery shopping for my post-op diet until I saw my NUT...I am planning on doing that shopping this weekend...it's about time, since my surgery is Monday I have been taking notes from the message boards for several weeks now, and I am merging those notes with the packet my NUT gave me Wednesday...I could use a little advice and guidance please My post-op prescribed program is Clear liquids for the first two days...that includes a clear Liquid Protein drink--60 to 70 grams of protein each day...the brand my NUT recommended is New whey liquid...they come in 3.8 oz liquid vials, and each vial contains 42g protein...that means I would drink (sip) 1.5 t…

After all these years of being a carboholic, I have really felt a shift in the pendulum. I consume protein all day and feel good. I don't even crave the carbs like I used to. Now this could be the surgery and/or the new food choices but I feel so much better. I have way more energy now. My skin is clearer and I feel like Rocky! I'm down another .5 pound which totals 22.5 since I started. I'm excited about this adventure.

I am still considering VSG - 90% decided. I drink protein shakes regularly now, as I go to the gym frequently and play basketball. It has always been overeating that kept me fat. Did everyone's taste change so readily after surgery, or is this only something for a small percentage? I can't imagine all of a sudden not enjoying the flavour of the shakes I drink now.

I'm in my first day preop and I'm STARVING! I'm allowed 2 shakes and one 4 oz protein and 1/2 cup green veggies. In between I can have 2 servings of each: broth, jello & Popsicles (sugar free of coarse)

My two week pre-op diet starts today and marks the beginning of my period, too. My diet isn't nearly as bad as some that I've read on here. That said, I am so thankful I started a modification of this two weeks ago to ease my fat ass into healthier eating and smaller portions. Breakfast: One shake. Lunch: One shake and one small piece of fruit. Snack: 6-8oz non fat greek yogurt or 1/2 cup FF cottage cheese. Dinner: 4oz lean meat and unlimited non-starchy veggies. Snack: 1/2 cup veggies. I can have unlimited veggies all day as well as needed. I did make one great discovery this morning. Our NUT said not to knock ourselves our looking fo…

Yummy, yummy, yummy!!! The Gordon's New Skillet Crisp Tilapia is delicious!! I ate one yesterday with canned spinach on the side with approx 1 Tb of Tarter Sauce. I ate is slow & consumed a whole one. I really enjoyed it. It's light breading that is delightful, lol, really. Anyone else tried them? I got the Garlic Herb. I'm not big on Lemon flavored fish. :-) I'll be 2mos post-op in two days!

Pre-op here. I've been reading many of these posts and it sound like milk helps with keeping fluids down. We only drink almond milk, it's higher in calcium, lower in calories, but it's heavier than skim. Does anyone have experience with almond milk post-surgery? Did it make you ill?

So I need help, I start my 2 week pre-op liquid diet on May 6th. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations on what protein shakes to buy, and also how many shakes I should drink a day. If possible I'm looking for something inexpensive also the vitamins I should start taking, just looking for recommendations on where to buy them(cheap) and brands and stuff like that. I have been researching websites all day trying to figure out what would be the best food route to take come week 6 and a lot of these websites contradict one another. One site says you can eat oranges while another states that you MUST stay away. So I come to you my fellow VST.com sleevers for a bit of advice by letting me in on your week 6 secrets I would really love to know what some of you ate 6 weeks out. Thanks in advance

Hello all of my fellow DFW Sleevers! I found a fabulous place to get healthy prepared meals that are right sized portions and nutritionally dense. It's in Plano off Park and Midway. Right next door to Pei Wei. It's called Pick A Fit foods. I thought I'd share with all who struggle in meal preparation and eating out. I loved the creamy vegetable soup which is perfect for stage 2 of our diet.

So I had sleeve on 4/15/13...11 days post op. I feel bad b/c my NUT said to eat clear/full liquids until I see her again (4/30/13). When my Dr. discharged me he said a week liquids...a week puree...a week of soft foods...and then slowly work up to regular foods by the time he sees me again (5/7/13). I was kinda unsure which to follow but since they put so much emphasis on the NUT I have tried to follow her orders. It has been SOOOOOO hard. I have pretty much followed her orders except this Tues I started to puree some soups and eating those once a day....well then it got to 2 times a day. And then today I couldn't take it....I ate spaghetti os for dinner. I chewed chewed …

I do eat at Subway on occasion. Please, no wet noodle. Anyway, I noticed that many pre-ops and new post-ops want to know what your restriction is at certain stages of the journey. Of course, everyone is different, so don't take this as written in stone for everyone. For lunch today: 3 inch turkey breast & ham sub w/ spinach, tomato, pickle, banana peppers, onion, green pepper, sweet onion sauce, regular mayo (just a little bit), salt and pepper & 1 bag baked ruffles sour cream and cheddar I did eat the whole 1 oz bag of chips but could only get down about 2/3 of the sandwich. I had them cut a 6 inch in half. Now I have lunch for tomorrow as well. I…

Okay so maybe a dumb question but I am curious. Do you just count your water as "water" or can powerade zero, vitamin water zero, Fuze, etc be counted as "water" too? I can't remember what my NUT told me. Also, I mix my protein shakes with water and I have a cup of decaf coffee in the mornings (with vanilla protein powder mixed in), can I count those beverages as "water" too since there is no sugar and no caffiene? I have been getting in at least 64 oz of actual water, H2O, everyday but can I count everything else that I drink as water too? I know in the very beginning when I was on clears I could but what about now. I'll be a month out tomorrow. Has that changed? …

I am 4 months out & my weight loss has slowed downvin a big way. I searched the threads for this but wasnt really finding what I need. How many cals is everyone eating a day? I was 253 starting weight and now at 192 and totally stalled. This is a typical day for me: Breakfast: 1/2 c cottage cheese, premiere Protein shake. Lunch: 2 emily bites cupcakes ofbone flavor or another. Afternoon: beef jerkey or cheese for snack, maybe greek yogurt. dinner is usually chicken or fish. Some days I end up snacking. Most days I am right around 1200 cals which seems like too many? I can easily do more than that if I don't track though. My nut isn't super helpful so wh…

Hello I just recently had surgery on April 9th and when my doc came in the next day he told me not to worry about the high Protein intake the nutritionist guidelines says or just focus on full liquid for three weeks. I know he knows I don't like Protein shakes or powders and don't want me to get burnt out but is anybody actually able to take in the 60+ grams a day? If so is it strictly through powder added into everything?

I have already pureed chicken and portioned it out into an ice tray; I removed the frozen cubes and placed them in a Ziplock freezer bag. I just don't like how the pureed vegetables turned out, so I bought some stage 2 baby food squash, carrots, and sweet potatoes. Has anyone else tried baby food for the puree phase?

Hi everyone! I am pre-op with surgery scheduled for May 1st. I am not all that familiar with low carb diets... can you give me an idea of how many carbs you eat per day? I assume this increases as you increase your calories? I know that you need good carbs, and I don't think that carbs are demons. But I have heard that reduced carbs reduces cravings of sugary foods and other high carb foods. I would love to hear your thoughts!

Hi Everybody! My NUT told me at Phase 3 Soft Phase I can have 3 meals of 4 oz and 1 or 2 Snacks 2 oz. The snacks can come into play if it will be over 4 hours between meals and at least an hour more until a meal. I still don't seem to understand how I am supposed to get al 70 grams in that she requires. Even if I have a protien shake the full shake is 30 but they only want me to have 4 ounces of it. This was said specifically. Whew this is going to be hard. Most of my meals are all protien and they alsot old me that they want me to mix cooked veggies in. Example 1 1/2 oz of a veggie type carb and the rest protien. What the heck?? Anyone else have thes…

Hi people, my surgery date is may 11 in Mexico. Im flying from New Zealand and trying to get organised. Are those little Soup sachets a good idea until I get back on nz ground? I thought they would be good for liquids for hotel rooms & the plane - only needing a kettle. I will be eating healthier once I get home! These were just to help get me through. Is that a good idea?? And I'm going to add the lentils & chicken to some veggies and stock in a slow cooker for the purée stage. I'm not a fan of Protein drinks so I need to get any protein I can from foods. In nz we don't have unflavoured Protein powder so I will stock up while I'm there. Thanks for any inpu…

I made this today for the family and stuck a small amount in the Bullet for me.
