I know it sounds dumb, but I dont like to assume. I just want to make sure my definition of pureeing is accurate. So to my understanding pureeing is putting your food in a blender, adding a liquid, and blending it til its baby food consistancy. Does that sound about right?

I'm 6 days post op and I'm on full liquids for 2 more weeks so far I've had creamy soups, water with crystal light and propels, sf Popsicles, sf carnation breakfast and premier protein. All of these I'm getting sick of and I can barely get through them. I'm having TERRIBLE head hunger and even feeling like I regret the surgery because I just wanna eat something. Any suggestions on some different liquids to try to get me through 2 more weeks of this???

ok so here's the deal. i am dealing with the Nemo Blizzard right now and i am buried. long story short. i find myself being able to eat normal things. baked chips, small portion of grilled cheese, whole wheat bread with PBJ on it. grilled chicken nuggets. now of course i am not eating big portions. all small portions. if i eat too fast i catch myself. when i don't i get bad chest pains/heartburn/gas etc. now this isnt my plan. i did not plan for this i just have nothing in the house. my wife is pregnant and we also have an 11 month old so time and planning is tough. i am still taking my vitamins and drinking water. but could anyone else eat out there like this? i mea…

So here it goes. I had surgery in Mexico so I don't have a nutritionist. But I have a friend that had surgery here and theirs said to eat 3 meals a day and no snacking. And try not to have protein shakes, to try and get their protein from food. Well I'm so confused. I haven't lost in a week, in fact gained 3 pounds! If I eat this way I'm not getting many calories or as much protein as most I see on here. So do you need a certain amount of calories to lose or not? And what about protein? How much?? Monday I will be 4 weeks out from surgery. I know everyone has different doctors but how many calories and protein do I need to lose? I'm panicked I won't lose anymore than this…

I'm on the liquid diet. Surgery is Tuesday. My Dr. allows me a Protein Bar each day. (200 calories or less & 5 grams of Protein or more) Can I eat something else instead? Like 3 Oz. grilled chicken & a cup of peas? That would be under 200 calories, more than 5G protein, & a helluva lot more satisfying.

I am on day 9 of a 20 day preop diet consisting of protein shakes, cottage cheese, yogurt, broth, and SF jello and popsicles. I've lost 13 lbs which is great. I'm trying really hard not to complain because it could be worse and I could be on full liquids or only protein drinks, but...I'm on burnout. I'd kill for just a salad, a cucumber, something with substance and crunch! In November, I kicked a 15 year habit of smoking cold turkey. During that time I munched on baby pickles when I got a craving for one. When I traveled I ate sunflower seeds. I thought i was over it, but now that I can have very little I want a cigeratte, a big Dr Pepper, and the right side of the menu …

So I'm going April 8 for my sleeve, my Dr. has requested I do a 37 day liquid diet. I decided to start it a week or so early so I could fall off the wagon if I needed to which I did the first day (poor planning) and today has been rather miserable. Any tips or tricks to make this long stretch of no solids go easier. Thanks in advance.

Does anybody have this app? Its great!!!! It has calorie, carbs, Protein, and fat counts on almost everyfood. There is a recipes section where you can get recipes for all phases. Im 2 months out and a slow loser (26 pnds since surgery day) and currently in my 2nd stall so im going to be doing the phase 1 meals. It says you can lose up to 15pnds in the first 2 weeks. I need that!!!! Of course the amounts of good we will probably be able to consume for one recipe is most likely half, so ill just consider the calorie count 1/2. Anybody want to give this a try with me???? i would love to see if this works being that we technically Atkins dieters anyways lol.

Should protein shakes be included in the 60+ oz of liquids I'm supposed to drink every day, or do the shakes count as additional fluids? I plan to mix my shakes with water, so I assumed I'd count it as water.

The only thing I have been eating is a protein shake. Is it to early to add liquid peanut butter to my shakes? And at what phase is refried beans allowed?

I came home with loads of information on what to eat and drink, but nowhere in my educational materials does it say what the breakdown of protein/carbs/fat/total calories should be per day. Do any of you have this information? I'm a little over a week post-op.

Hi had surgery on 1-23-13 and all I am supposed to eat is sf popsicle,sf jello ,broth and protein shake. I can have a small amount of sf pudding to put my crushed pulls in to take them. Is there anything else? I just feel so weak from having hardly any calories. What was everyone else's first 2 weeks like?

I've been on the liquid diet for about 10 days. No cheating. I'm down about 14lbs. I'm going stir crazy. I have had broth, cream soup, protein shakes, Malt-o-Meal, yogurt and everything in between that's not a solid. What about scrambled eggs? I can't see where a couple would hurt me. My surgery is Tuesday.

I feel like I'm eating too much I'm supposed to have 2-3 protein shakes a day and 2-3 protein bars a day and one meal with 5 oz of lean met and 2 cups of veggies. I've only lost 6 lbs and I'm one week away from surgery. Should I have like maybe soup for lunch instead of a protein bar and shake? I'm afraid I'm not gonna loose enough in time for my surgery and my liver will be too big! HELP ME!! Lol!!

Tonight I ate a brothy Soup that had some mushrooms & tomatoes in it----at a restaurant. I had them use a blender to make it all broth. Is that ok, or are light vegetables blended up a no-no? I'm 7 days out from surgery.

My surgery is March 4th so today is my 1st day of my pre-op diet. I am now "drinking" dinner. My menu: Meal: Some delicious succulent beef broth Desert: Not so sweet sugar free Jello Drink: Refreshing Apple juice I'm really trying to keep a positive attitude about my pre op diet. But when I think about the consequence of not following my diet, well that keeps me motivated. What are some of you all having for your meals?

All I can say is that I hope and pray I don't have a leak or that I did any damage to my new sleeve. how could i be so dumb. some people on here have reassured me and also scared me that i could die. it's so scary. my own fault for not being prepared better. instead of stocking up again, i got so worried and prepared for this blizzard. long story short. i ate normal food. small portions but still. i hope i dont get sick or die. Luckily i have no pains or cramps. no aches and no fevers. but how do i know for certain if i caused a leak in my staple line. ?? my doctors office isnt even open until monday. i am so stupid.

Well, I only have 5 more days before I start my liquid diet so was at Kroger today and did some stock up. I made myself a separate shelf in my kitchen for my stuff so I won't be tempted to look at the other stuff my family is eating. I bought a box of beef, chicken and veggie broth, two boxes of coconut milk and my greatest find was 2 dozen surgarfree Gelatin Snacks for the price it would have cost me for 1 dozen. SCORE! LOL I had already bought some Protein shake mix so right now I am ready and raring to go. So excited. As each day inches closer I know I will be able to handle this. I am getting myself psyced up for it. Whoo Whoo March 7 surgery here I come.

Hello fellow sleevers, So I just finished my first week post-op. My doctor only required 1 week liquids post-op then moving to blended foods then to soft foods. We're allowed egg beaters/egg whites, grits, crackers in Soup, tuna, lean deli meat, low fat cheeses among other things in this stage. Today was the first day tasting something that wasn't liquid and I'm kind of freaking out! Breakfast was 2 oz egg beaters w 1/4 c grits lunch was 2 oz lean deli meat (chicken and roast beef as allowed) and less than 1 oz string cheese dinner has not been determined yet. I'm scared of the options, I'm scared to eat the wrong things and the surgery not be successful for m…

I just discovered that if I treat my sleeve like a newborn baby, I feel so much better. Every time I get sick I eat a little something, even if I don't feel like it, I stop being sick. Well that's like a newborn. Newborns start out with liquids, progress to soft, etc, etc.... You all may have already figured this out but I'm kinda slow, lol. So I was in a dead sleep and I woke up really sick feeling, it's too early to get up so I ate a sf Jello. Amazing, all better! I ate butternut squash Soup last night, not something that will stick to your ribs, and was sick at bed time. When my boys were baby's I would put a lil rice Cereal in their milk and they would …

We can't have carbonation bc of the gas bubbles right? so can we open a drink, say a diet coke, and let it go flat before we drink it? Not all the time, but once in a while if I have a soda craving tht wont go away. Im pre surgery and I am just trying to think of my options.

Do you know if I should be focusing on keeping my calories below a certain number? I'm 4weeks out and I eat an avg of 700-850calories and I'm getting all my protein vitamins and water in. I have been working out 5days a week for the last 2weeks. I feel like I'm eating more calories than others in my time frame but I feel like I am starving myself if I eat only 500 calories and burn 700 working out. Is there a right answer??? Thanks for your time!!!

Hi All, I've read through many of your posts and have found much inspiration from you all. I'm thrilled to be part of such a strong community! I'm new into the process, just started my pre-op (non-liquid) diet to get down to the goal weight the surgeon will give me tomorrow. I'm a little nervous to be honest. It's SUCH a big change and one I'm ready for. I think if I wasn't nervous, I am not being honest with myself - it's a BIG step - no question. I can't help but think, "Oh Cookies, how I'll miss you"...etc but I read a great post saying you're not NEVER going to have them...just not for awhile and maybe when you can again, you won't want to....so I made a condolen…
