I welcome any feedback about some of my concerns...I am one week out from my surgery and have not taken any of my diabetes meds since I came home from the hospital...my PCP advised me not to take them unless my glucose levels were consistently over 150...well, I have not been pleased so far, because I've had a few readings as high as 200
I am concerned because I am hardly taking in any calories (definitely less than 800 daily) and no carbs...I thought for sure my levels would stay below 150, but I guess not...I was truly optimistic that I might be one of those diabetics who post-VSG never had to take meds again...I was just wondering if anyone could share their experiences the first weeks after VSG surgery (diabetics that is)...I will say that I have been a diabetic for over 10 years now, and have been on a high level of meds (1000mg metformin twice daily plus 40 units of Lantus insulin daily)...maybe that has something to do with it
