Of course, check with your doctor, but I don't remember being told to avoid any medications in my post-op instructions. I would avoid aspirin or anything that thins the blood since your tummy is healing but don't think there should be a problem with anything else. I had a caffiene headache for a few days after surgery but the medication they gave me for pain took care of that with no problem.

Tylenol should be fine, it was good to take pre op 2 wks before, its been my lifesaver surgery is in 2 days!

Be careful ladies. With VSG we will need to avoid NSAID's for life as these can cause issues with our new tummies. This should be in your VSG preop/post op instructions or in the complications section. Luckily as MsShauna said, Tylenol is not a NSAID. Saying that, Advil is a NSAID.

You could have headaches due to: Lack of caffeine or not enough liquid, so try to up you intake of Water if you are not getting enough.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

I had massive headaches day and night after the surgery for 3 months....found out I was not taking in enough fluids...extremely dehydrated apparently...ended up back in hospital getting a fluid drip....now Im on it and never have headaches....

Hi,

I had a nagging headache about two weeks after surgery, my doc said it was because I wasn't getting any carbs at all. Started drinking diluted apple juice (1/3 apple juice and the rest water), headache was gone!

My doc okeyed adult liquid tylenol post surgery.
