Fee I had my lap-band surgery 9/5/2013 so I am completing my first week. I heard about this procedure back in 1995 and I decided that I didn't want to do it because I didn't want to give up pizzas. Growing old sucks but choosing to be old and in poor health just bites. I came to the realization that life is meant to be lived with a purpose and that I am more than just my next meal. I created a rule for dating that I applied to eating earlier this year. It has helped me move off the bench, to use a football analogy, and put me into the game. The rule is as follows: Feelings are not right and they are not wrong they just are, it is what you decide to do with th…

Well, Its been 12 days since surgery and hes been nicer than ive ever seen. He says he thinks i will leave once im thinner. Question is, will i want him to do all these things, say 40lbs from now? Will i be more interested or less interested?

It will be 4 wks postop for me tomorrow. I had my first fill today and found out I have a seroma. I had 10cc of fluid drained and the NP had to stop since it was so painful. I have to go back in a week to have it drained again. I am hoping it will heal quickly. I only lost 5lbs since surgery and was upset at that. My first postop didn't go to well. Anyone else have a Seroma and little weight loss after surgery?

I had my surgery on 9/4/13 and went home 9/6/13, I am feeling great. I am on the puree stage and I ate eggs, tuna, grits mashed potato, chicken breast and green beans so far. I found that skim milk gave me bubbles... I am doing good with fat free Lactaid milk with all my protein shakes. I was having a problem with water until today. Water was causing gas but I added apple juice to it and it goes down fine. I cannot tell when I'm full, so I only eat about 2 spoons of food at a meal. The sensitive nose has went away. I am driving as of Monday 9/9/13. So guys whats the thing to look for to tell if I'm full, so that I do not under eat? (I do not want to learn from throwing up…

So before everyone says how I can do it I want you to know I've averaged 6-10lbs a month for the last 3 months so 37lbs in 2 months is such an unrealistic goal to me. But I'm sooo close and sooo far away So I'm putting out there! Today marks 2 months away! I'm starting at step one. cheese sticks deli meats Protein drinks and bars and turkey, chicken, tuna ONLY I'm going to do 60 min of Zumba for 5 days a week. 13. I am 54 years old, mother of two grown daughters, grandmother of 5 grandsons and 1 special needs granddaughter. My weight problems started around the age of 30, after I quit partying. At first I just gained a few pounds here and there. I yo-yo dieted for years. I tried Herbal Life, Weight Watchers, and Jenny Craig. I walked miles, and I got a gym membership. I lost, I quit, I gained it all back and more. I had a hysterectomy in 2007, and my hormones and metabolism went nuts. At my heaviest, I was 283. My husband said if I reached 300, he would leave. I think I wanted him to since there has been no intimacy, or affection for that matter, for well over two years. …

All my life I have been chubby. Same old story as every one else. Would loose weight and keep it off for awhile then life would happen and I would go off diet and regain it all back plus a few more. About a month and a half ago my husband had a long talk with me and asked if I would quit smoking. If I quit he would pay for me to have the surgery. I was thoroughly offended. I did not see myself as obese, yes I needed to loose a few pounds but I could always do it on my own. We had an argument about m…

Just curious, do any of you have your access port placed above your left breast? My surgeon said this was the most stable place to put it because bending and moving would not affect it and it reduces the risk of the port flipping.

My doctor told me that I am not eating enough food and that can affect my weight loss which means that it might be the reason why I'm not losing much. How much food can I possibly get into this little pouch. I basically have to force myself to eat? That's a first, it's usually the other way around. Pray for me to get more appetite for more protein.

I finally made this decision to change my quality of life. I've met with my surgeon and have my pre-op appointments on Tuesday. I currently weigh 243 pounds with a BMI of 43, I'm 5'3". I have sleep apena and bad knees. I have a 2 year old that I can't keep up with cause I'm tired and winded. So enough is enough. First off, the Protein shakes, had to stop. At first they were easy, and great. Except, I could only drink one kind and only one flavor of that kind. Everything else was making me sick. Of course, two of the same flavor, of the same kind, twice a day, every day, after a few months, also started to make me sick. It got to the point where I was getting sick, thinking about drinking the shakes. My meal also changed. After the healing seemed to complete, I noticed I started eat…

I am so stressed about getting my Protein in and losing my hair if i dont. I am a mess. I have my shake in the morning, but now takes me longer to drink it. I am getting all my Vitamins in. Is it because I am healing and the sleeve was abel to stretch before?

Hi all, I just joined and wanted to introduce myself. I was banded back in 2007. At that time I was over 400 pounds. Not sure the exact number so I generally just use that as my starting point. I was able to lose about 140 pounds, speak at the seminars for my Dr. and even did a commercial for him. I went from wearing pants that were a tight 56 to a normal 38, I could even get into 36 if i really tried. I got complacent and my weight started creeping back up. I quit visiting my Dr. I quit going to support group, I quit the chat boards. Long story short, I creeped back up to around 315. Needless to say, I wasn't squeezing in the occasional 36 anymore. I was having to …

I m jst a little annoyed because i feel my normalcy has been stripped away due to surgery I loved food before..hence the reason i was 346 Pre surgery. But i feel like i m not allowed to love food anylonger n it frustrates me. You dont realize the little things you take for granted before surgery like gulping cold water when thirsty...ughh i have to NOW sip. I dont want to cook in the kitchen anymore n experiment with receipes because i cant eat n enjoy it. Did anyone else have these feelings in the beginning?? Sometimes i ask myself...Why did i do this?! Please help with this struggle

I was in the mood for wheat thins and I read on the pack that serving size is 16 pieces for 140 calories. I actually counted 16 pieces exactly and closed the package. What is happening to me? Whatever it is, I'm in love. That would never happen to me b4 the surgery. I'm so proud of myself and my little stomach. By the way, I didn't finish the wheat thins after all. I'm 3mos post op and 44lbs down which is not much in my eyes but I console myself with all the inches lost. Also went from size 24 to 20. Love my sleeve.

Now I'm all in for it and almost ready to go. All I need is to get the stress test done so my doctor can clear me for surgery. She needs that because I've complained to her about chest pain when I'm rushing up the stairs (as I live in a 6th fl walk up bldg). I scheduled everything fast. I had everything scheduled for August. within 2 weeks all my appointments were done. I'm getting it done at St Lukes Hospital in Harlem, NY. Getting sleeved on Sept 4th. Really excited and really nervous at the same time. All of my pre op prep is done and I am on my 3rd day of my pre op diet. It's easier than I thought until I came home today and had nothing to do! It seems like all I'm thinking about is food and watching TV is murder! All they show is food and commercials for more food. Aargh!! Just venting...are there any other sept sleepers out there who has started their pre op diet?? What are your thoughts? What are some of your fears about the surgery? My biggest fear is stretching my new sleeve out and gaining the weight back!!! That is a huge fear...

It has been 7 weeks since my Vertical Sleeve Surgery. Before Surgery, I lost 20lbs. The day of the surgery I weighed 309.5, today I weigh 286. So 23lbs. Since surgery. I exercise almost every day and I have followed the diet plan almost to a tee. I am a bit frustrated because I feel it should be more weight than 23 lbs. what can I do to lose more? Is there something I am doing wrong? I have stayed at 286 for at least 3 weeks now.

Just downloaded this app to get more info. Finally sick enough of being overweight to actually do something about it. I lost a lot of weight 10+ years ago doing Atkins and exercising...then had surgery to remove a brain tumor 8 years ago and gained it all back plus a bunch extra! Went from 265 down to 218 prior to that surgery and have been up to a high of 310+ the last year. My surgery is a week from tomorrow on September 16th. Crossing my fingers that I'm doing the right thing even though I'm really nervous. I guess I'm at the point of rather be dead than so overweight so the risks of surgery don't mean as much. Wish me luck! Sam
