I am having a probably with getting my protein and water. I can do about 45 protein and 32 oz water. If I do more water then I don't want to eat and I can only do 20 grams of shake protein. Rest from little food that I do get. I am 3 weeks and 4 days out. I hope I am not hurting myself.

I was banded almost two years ago, and never had any control nor fills. Ten days after surgery I have had constant pain in the port area and after almost a year the port was removed becouse my body rejected it. After that I felt I can eat without limits and two days ago, on my initiative, I went to gastroscopy and there is ni trace of my band. I'm thinking of pressing the charges against the hospital, due to the lack of care.

Hi, I'm Sue. I found this forum and can't wait to be part of the group here. I've had an initial consultation at the weight loss center and I'm meeting with the surgeon on the 19th. I'm hoping to get a date for my banding set at that time. I've been reading everything I can find on the subject and I've found lots of useful advice here. I've got the support of my family and friends and now I can include the support I'll get here! Looking forward to getting to know others here. Sue

Okay, maybe not super new to posting but I never officially posted an intro. Since I have decided that the sleeve is for me I wanted to share a little. My name is CC from the suburbs of Chicago. Planned on getting the band but at my consult the doctor said sleeve. So I found you guys and started asking questions, reading stories, and made my decision. I was very scared, still am, about getting my stomach removed but all of your stories have been encouraging. I want to thank everyone of you for sharing your experiences, pictures, and support! Without it I know I would still be scratching my head. Anyway, I have 4 children who are very active. I need to lose 115 pou…

So my surgery is Monday at 10:00 a.m. I have read the posts here and listened to my doctor, PA and the nurses at the hospital and have compiled what I'm bringing. Do I have everything I need? Note: I will have a private room, so no need for earplugs. I will use two gowns, so I am not bringing a robe. I don't want to bring any extra electronics, so I'll rely on my phone if I need internet, etc. My current list: 1. Evil CPAP machine per doctor's orders 2. Gas X strips and liquid drops 3. Biotene for dry mouth 4. Medicine (that I already have) for possible Thrush 5. Toothbrush/paste 6. Vaseline/lip stuff 7. Cell phone and charger 8. Extra unde…

I was wondering if this was a problem for others before you had surgery. I have had nightmares since I was told I was approved for surgery. Granted my surgery is in November, I have had dreams about failing my diet, being put under, waking up during surgery did everyone else do this? I wish my day was next week or tomorrow because I hate this feeling. I feel like im trying to talk myself out of doing the surgery. Yikes!!!! is this my nerves that is making my mind play tricks on me?

I am almost 4 weeks out as of next Tuesday and the first two weeks were fine but these last two weeks have been hell! At my two week check up the PA said it was normal just the nerve healing but this is too painful to be a nerve! My fiancé had it done right before me and never had 1 issue. This is really making me regret what I've done. Even though I have lost 20 lbs I'm in so much pain if I move the wrong way or bend or even sneeze. It feels like the Indian burns I use to give to people when I was a kid x 10! Don't know what to do!!! Anyone had or have this problem? What should I do????? Please help!!!!

I had my surgery 3 days ago at Nova hospital with Dr. Kelly. I cannot say enough good things about both the Dr. and the hospital. Dr. Kelly is a very wonderful, smart, skilled surgeon whom I truly admire. He's been to see me numerous times already and I expect to see him one last time before I leave. He also spent time with my mother to reassure her and that meant the world to the both of us. When I arrived at the hospital, I was disappointed as it looked shabby. But the inside was immaculately clean and organized and very well run. All of the nurses were wonderful and attentive. Some spoke broken English and others none at all but that was never an issue. They w…

Yesterday, I purchased a new robe for the hospital. (On sale at Target) Hopefully, this will be the last XL I ever have to buy. Thank goodness I never threw away some of my darling size medium blouses and sweaters. Seriously, I still have some size 8 dresses from 2001 and a beautiful chenille robe from Nordstroms that has never been warn. My cedar chest is full of Anthropologie sweaters. I am really get excited to wear clothes that I like and are stylish and not just because they fit. Didn't I tell you all that I was excited? No more black in a few months. I ordered six unjury Protein Powders yesterday. I bought the GNC, Gold Standard last week to try and hate…

So my gastric sleeve story..... well I have never been extremely small but I was once fit and after 3 kids and a bad marraige, II was on the way to find myself again. I lost 46 pounds and was feeling great, that is when life changed forever. My son was diagnosed with cancer and a three year battle began. He lost that battle just over a year ago and I have been unable to find my way back to me again. The weight has piled on through the sadness and was now affecting my daily activites. So here I am. Post Op day 2..... It was a long journey but I am here now and on the road to a new me.

I started out at the Mayo Clinic because I live in Rochester, but Medica informed me that Mayo Clinic is out of network. So they gave me a list of places that were in network and the one that worked the best for me was Gunderson Health Systems in Onalaska. They were so nice and helpful and they accepted the nutrition things that I had done at Mayo. I completed all the necessary requirements and the Gunderson Health System was going to submit my request today, but the insurance company apologized, but the customer service rep that I spoke to prior to going to Gunderson told me the wrong information so they will not pay for my surgery. I spoke the bariatric program man…

Ok guys, I am frustrated, a feeling which I have NOT had up until this point. I began my journey 11/23/2012 and have lost a record 208 pounds in the past 9 1/2 months. Yeah, I know I shouldn't be complaining, but I am officially stuck, the first time this has happened to me at this level. In the past 13 days I have only lost 2 pounds. The part about this which is driving me crazy is that I am so close to goal. I actually had a couple different goals as I have gone along. My initial goal when I started was 245, then I lowered it to 225, then I figured I would try and be less then high school weight so I figured 215 lbs. These goals were set when I was losing big wei…

I made it through my surgery on Wednesday! I'm so happy to be part of the banded family It's going better than I thought it would. I'm sore and incredibly gassy (which makes my 9-year-old niece laugh hysterically). I'm making great progress on getting my fluids and protein in. I'm trying to start weaning myself off the pain meds. I don't like them. My first shower this morning was the most amazing thing I've ever done...LOL. I'm walking the carpet to death. When the family comes home today, I'll move my walks back outside. I'm off work all next week, which is good and bad. I see myself getting bored. But, I do have appts. outside the house beginning Tuesday n…

For those of you who want to get approved through BS of CA follow these steps. 1. Start with a center of excellence (I use North State Surgical Associates- Dr. Erik Simchuck) they are familiar with their strict requirements and your likely to get approval the first go around. I started with a seminar in March. Initially I was considering the lap-band but settled on the sleeve. I then started on my six months of nutrition classes - you need to attend one a month for six consecutive months. Dr. Simchuck ordered a sleep study as well as a pulmonary function test - each of which I staunchly believed were unnecessary (I have sleep apnea and poor pulmonary function). they…

I have aching knees, sleep apnea, high BP and cholesterol. I am hoping that with this surgery and exercise, I will feel alot better. Thoughts?

I am so happy with my progress! At my heaviest I weighed 303lbs, at my weigh in today I am now 188lbs, so in total I've lost 115lbs, I lost half before surgery and half after. While I am happy with what I've achieved I am finding it psychologically hard to deal with! I still see myself bigger ( the way I used to be ) and also the attention I am now getting from people! Does anyone feel this way? If so how do u cope and what should I do? I am currently waiting to see a psychologist to talk about it, however, how can I help myself in the meantime x

I've been married since July 1 2013 but we have been together for 12 years. The most we have in common is we both like to eat and eat good. I have already battled issues with my husband of wanting to go out and do things as a family. He's reluctant and lazy. Its sad to say even thou i'm starting my 6 month journey until the surgery but i can not see myself staying once its done. I'm dong this surgery to live life and enjoy it. Is it wrong for me to plan not only dropping my personal weight but his as well? I know to death do us part but i'm tired of complaining. I want to feel good and be with someone who makes me feel good too. I feel like our issues are in stone and I c…

I recently had my Gastric Sleeve Surgery on August 26, 2013 with Doctor Pete Rantis at Alexians Brothers Hospital. He did a FANTASTIC JOB!! What a Great Surgeon, I could not believe how fast my recovery was. I was walking 10,000 steps the day of surgery with minimal pain. My starting weight was 417 with a BMI of 58.2. I was diagnosed with a severe case of sleep apnea which has improved with the little weight loss to date, My current weight is 375 with a BMI of 52.3. I’m very excited with my choice so far. I’m currently in the pureed phase about to start my soft foods. Any good recommendations for what soft foods to start on?

Today I had my pulmonary function testing done. It is the last clearance I need before my paperwork is submitted to insurance!!!! I am really hoping for a quick approval and to be scheduled sometime in October. That is my prayer. I am an October baby anyway. It would be great if I could have the same month for my "rebirth" of sorts too! I am so hopeful and excited. Fingers crossed and God willing...

Hello all. just thought I'd introduce myself. I live in Caracas Venezuela, I spent the last 6 months doing resarch on the VSG and in August finally I decided to interview a few doctors. In a couple of weeks i saw 4 doctors, and finally chose one, one of the most reputable ones here in Venezuela. I had my surgery on Monday september 9th 2013 (3 Days ago as of right now.). Thankfully I havent had a single issue to complain about. Im following my prgogram to the letter, given that this is a lifestyle choice and recognized that a ot of changes needed to be made. To put it simply, this process is the most important in my life at the moment, nothing can intervene, work…

I have research the vsg for about five years, something allows seemed to get in the way. I then decided that maybe its not ment to be. Well a few months ago I realized my body hurts, I mean everything. I couldn't take it anymore. I meet a doctor that I liked and felt like I could trust. Once that happened everything became history. My voyage started Aug 20, 2013. The day before surgery i didnt eat anything just a little water. I got there at 5am preped and all i rembember is laying on the table. I woke up with my mother and fiance where there (waking up to people feels great). First thing I wanted to do was walk, so after a while I did. From liquid to puree to soft foods,…
