is this normal? I am five days out from surgery. I have felt really good, considering. no pain except some twinges.no nausea. walking 30 minutes a day. not sleeping well, hard to get comfortable. today I am just exhausted. I get up to go to the bathroom and get more water.then it is another nap. my surgeon said to focus on hydration this first week, next week we will worry about protein, even though I try to sneak a little in. I haven't been this tired since surgery. is it all just catching up with me?

I was so excited to have the lap band and had no qualms about the surgery. I figured I would finally be thin!. HA! First, I mad e some mistakes which I own. I didn't go to the adjustments after the first 4 or 5. I felt like I was just number 10020. Having "Lurch" call my name and then have some one who didn't even look me in the eyes talk to me about "how you doin?" Then, go through the cup thing. I couldn't go back (each way was almost 45 minutes for a 5 minute check). Next, I couldn't give up the soda. OK I am hooked and can't get off. Finally, I was basically starving--living on liquids and vomiting anything larger than an M&M. so I eat (ate) i…

Tomorrow begins the first day of the rest of my life with my all day educational seminar. I am super excited but sometimes get a little overwhelmed thinking about all of the lifestyle changes. When I began my required 6 months o medically supervised doctor appointments on March 18, I never dreamed the time would fly by so quickly. My insurance required a lot of "jumping through hoops" but everything was submitted on a Tuesday morning and I was approved on that Wednesday afternoon! I was expecting it to take between 2 weeks and 2 months. So I'm actually ahead of what I planned. I have several friends who have had tremendous success with the sleeve which excites me even mo…

Book, binder, journal!! All, some or one? I'm starting a binder to keep all the info I find important from the boards. I am going to print out the posts that really helped me and keep them so if I ever need to go back to something I don't have to scroll through hundreds of pages. I will keep my before pics for when I feel I need to control my cravings close at hand so I can keep myself accountable. Did anyone keep anything like this?

My name is Steve. I am 61 years old and was banded on 9/14/13. I have been reading posts now for two weeks and have hesitated to "tell my story", don't know why. I feel a little out of place - there are very few men posting and I am older than most. However, I started at 314 pounds over a month ago - the fattest I have ever been! I'm not heavy, I am fat. I have had heart problems, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I have been taking a lot of pills for a long time and am hoping this will help me get rid of most of them. I have sleep apnea as well and have hopes that I might be able to put away my bi-pap machine when I lose enough weight. I always used to b…

I got the Lap Band 2 weeks ago (9-6-2013) and got tearing and infection in the incision. I'm back on an antibiotic for 10 days and have been back to True Results of Scottsdale twice to have a nurse clean out the wounds. Even the "small" incisions have oozing. See photos.

  19. Hi All, this is my first real post. I was just banded a few days ago on Sept. 19, 2013. Started at 233.8 and was 220 by surgery day. I am on day 4 of my post op diet and got to drink some yogurt this morning. Yah !! I had my surgery in Mexico. I started in the USA and found the place I chose to be a joke. No return calls, they did not request my medical records, I waited in their lobby 2 hours and was then told the doctor was going to be another 30 minutes would i like to return. NO! I felt that since I was on the lower side of the weight guidelines and I did not have a 5 year history they were not following up with my file. I researched and researched…

So I walk in and they know me there and the sales lady says "wow ! Look at you getting all skinny! You look great!" I was in shock I guess because I have been losing slow so I guess I didn't realize the impact. I am almost 3 months out and have lost 25 pounds since surgery and 35 since preop. That s slow compared to a lot of others but I feel like as long as I keep losing ill be fine. To top off the whole visit to Lane Bryant, I need work pants and and 18 looked great! Hello, I am new here and just had my sleeve surgery on 9/16/13. I previously had the lap band placed in January 2009, and due to slippage it was removed May 2013. My surgeon was and still is so GOOD, I am so so glad I found out about him and had the sleeve done by him. I woke up with pain under control, (which never happens, lol), little to no gas feeling, and I felt actually better meaning no bloating feeling like I did before surgery. Yes I had swelling and bloating, but seemed like worse before surgery, I thank my doctor for doing an amazing job! For those of you that survived the holidays last year, how did you do it? I will literally be on liquids for Thanksgiving. Not too concerned about that. But Christmas I'll be on soft foods and won't be at my house. I'm curious how you guys dealt with this.

  28. Hello to all in this community, my name is Dave. I have always been a lifelong heavy person and overweight, athletic football build type of guy who was losing the battle with diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea. My endocrinologist suggested I consider a bariatric surgery option as a route to help. Over the course of six months I researched options and settled on the Lap Band. While talking through the surgery with my wife, my best friend in the world, she suggested we do it together. We decided we both want to be healthier for each other and live longer and fuller lives so we took on the journey together. I was very fortunate to have such a great support partner with…

Was banded on6/12. I have lost about 50 pounds. Went today for second fill .. I have been feeling like the first fill did absolutely nothing so was very excited for this one . He does it under X-ray so he knows right where to go. Well he can put fluid in but not take it out .. After looking further he sees that the port is not attached to the catheter so I am thinking I probably have never had any fluid go into my band . Says the port must have been defective .. Nothing I did.. And will have to be replaced . Anyone that knows what the procedure is like .. Any input would be great .

I'm back!. I was sleeved in Nov 2011, so I will celebrate two years being sleeved. I started my journey at 330 pounds. When I found out I was going to be a first time grandma, I knew I couldn't keep up with a two year old at 330 pounds. Having tried to lose weight for years to very little avail, I decided WLS was the way for me. Of course it was initially tough. The mandatory 6 months pre op, was tough cause I wanted to get started. Then the surgery was actually a breeze. The few months afterwards was really tough. Was so terribly weak for a while, thought I had made a mistake. However, once my body got used to the situation, I started losing and it was great. Even…

We have all been forewarned about the dangers of not following the rules that was given to us. If you have orders from your doctor by all means FOLLOW THEM. I got a happy 3 year anniversary email today and since I haven't been on here in a very long time, I thought I would post. I honestly thought it had been longer than 3 years. Life has been such a roller coaster. I did very well for 10 months, I was down 70 lbs and doing great, then went for a fill which involves 10 hours of driving time. It was the first time the nurse did the fill instead of the Dr and by the time I was home I knew it was too much. But I hoped with time and liquid diet it wold settle down and be ok. That started a long time of frequent stuck episodes and a plateau that lasted for over a year. Then I found I had a tare in the meniscus of my right knee…

I was shy when I was in grade school. I had one true best friend since 4th grade. I think that is because we have so much in common. I almost lost her a few times because of medical reasons but because of God's grace and mercy my rock is still here. So I have decided to go on this journey because I am tried of taking all meds I am on, being too tried to play with my grandkids, and just being fat in general. I want to be more mobile.

I've been lurking around this forum since February 2013, when I started my six month prerequisites for insurance. I've read the good, bad and ugly, seen the before and after pics, read some great advice, encouragement and tips. Today, I met with my surgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Hannon at Mobile Infirmary and set a date of October 7, 2013 for VSG. I am so excited and nervous. I hate that I have to wait that long, but I have other obligations that I need to get out of the way first so I can focus on my surgery and recovery. Just wanted to say hi and thanks to all the members here as they have relieved me of a lot of my fears.
