  1. I want to thank all you for the wonderful support and comments last night while I was anxiously awaiting his arrival. His name is Lucas John and was born at 10:33 this morning and is 8lbs and 21 inches long. I believe he is quite beautiful and perfect in every way! Spoken like a grandma! :) This right here is one of the reasons I wanted to get the sleeve.......To play with my grandchildren!!

I have read and heard so many negtive things about the lap band, All I can say to anyone reading this is that It was the best decision Ive ever made. Yes It took some serious life adjustments and the "getting to know each other" period was rough. I stayed dedicated to making this band work. If you read my old post you will know this hasnt always been an easy road. In the beginning I thought I needed to have this band so tight that i couldnt eat anything, well 3 years later and I'm much happier having it somewhat loose. yes I can eat more than some would like but I am controlling my weight through diet and exercise. Its my comfort knowing that If I fall off the wagon and w…

Tired of feeling that this weight problem has had control of me all my life. Time for a positive change. Hello everyone I haven't posted in quite awhile. I've achieved my goal and wanted to say a few things to anyone out there who needs a boost. Was it worth it? Absolutely. I paid for my surgery myself and its the best money I have ever spent. I had my surgery on 12/26/2012. A christmas present to myself. I'm 9 months out and have lost 101 pounds. People are now telling me that I am "too thin" and need to stop losing. I've never had that problem before. I personally think I look fine - I'm happy where I'm at and really don't mind the 2 pounds up and down that still happen. Did I have any complications? I developed some seriously painful acid reflu…

I WISH I'll be set by end of October. I will do everything I can to make my process faster than ever!!!! 3 1/2 months post op and overall pretty happy. Was on a liquid diet for 30 days post-op and it took me another 3-4 weeks after that to tolerate 4oz of solid food. Sounds really strange but plain non-flavored water gives me a stomach ache. But if I add crystal light or Milo flavors or drink Propel water, I'm fine. So strange. Also, still hurts my stomach to digest meat. And I have a history of 7 kidney stones from too much protein in the past. So you be able to see where i'm going with this. A high protein diet makes my kidneys irritated, but too many carbs result in crappy weight loss :-/ I have only lost 34 pounds so far. It makes me sad because I know it should be so m…

I'm getting my sleeve done on the 31 of October and I'm really worried that a spirit wandering around the hospital is going to get inside me during surgery while under and take over my body to do evil things! I've watched enough horror movies to know this is a possibility. So I'm wondering if I should ask if I can wear garlic around my neck or something? Please help!

I was offered a job transfer out of state. My husband was able to find full time employment and things were pretty good. But, Then my hubby's contract job ended and after a year he is still unemployed. My brother and Aunt passed away suddenly and my Mom began to have health issues. I found myself turning to food to deal with my anger, depression, sadness and guilt (over moving away). By September of 2012, my weight was back to 195, a 25 pound gain. I was so disappointed in myself and resolved to do better.Today, I find myself at 200 pounds, somewhere that I vo…

  14. Getting the lap band was the worst decision of my life. You should only do it if you have chronic illnesses that you know will kill you -- not because "every obese person gets...." I have had chronic pain, many many surgeries. Even with lap band removed - likely permanent abdominal wall injury. Couldn't lay down for 4 years. Now I can lay down just on right side. I had one problem after another in that area, even after the lap-band was removed 6 months after it was put it. I was obese, sleep apnea - but had worked out 7-10 hours per week, had hiked, biked, active sex life. ALL OF THAT IS NOW GONE BECAUSE OF CONSEQUENCES OF LAP-BAND. I now am on chronic pain m…

It has always been an uphill battle and thanks to the support of my family and friends I have decided to get a lap band. I am scheduled for surgery Oct 3. I am beyond excited. My best friend had the procedure done three years ago and has lost a whopping "150" lbs. I hope that I can maintain my weightloss as well as she has. I am so excited to have join this forum so that I can hear about your experiences with lap band.

I honestly felt like I don't wanna have to explain my decision to anyone. My younger brother (who is a personal trainer) handled it the worst. He made me feel awful about it and couldn't understand why I just couldn't eat healthy and work out. To give you a better understanding of y situation when I was 17 I was diagnosed with pcos and type 2 diabetes. I was told I'd only ever have a 2% chance of having kids. In a split second I made the decision to give up card and in just 6 months I lost 70lbs. When I was 19…

I read up on the surgery as much as possible and couldn't wait to begin my new journey which was to reach a goal of a healthy weight, to get off as many meds as possible and to enjoy what life has to offer. I went through the surgical procedure without any difficulties and was looking forward to reaching all of the goals I had set for myself. Unfortunately, within 2 weeks following the bypass I started to have a feeling of pressur…

Hi all. I was 21 months out on Sept. 14th and went to my doctor for follow-up. I go see him every 3 months. I am still doing great. I have lost 75 lbs. (I really only had 60 to lose all mainly in my abdomen). Those of you who know my story know that most of my stomach had protruded through my diaphragm. I had a Nissen Fundiplication surgery for my reflux in 1999, and this was a result of that. Anyway, my stomach was lodged between my lungs headed for my heart so with my sleeve surgery at the same time he had to repair that which took and additional 2 1/2 hours. My doctor told me that your restrictions change at 18 months post-op so it is important to stay on track…

Check-in and pre-op was great, and entertaining as the nurses were really great and fun. The anesthesiologist came in, asked a bunch of questions and went over what he was going to do. Another great guy. Stated I'm going to be out before I leave the little pre-surgery room and I was. Dr. Morales came in and described the surgery again and answered any questions I had. The surgical pain wasnt all that bad with all the drugs but the gas pain in the shoulders was pretty bad. Felt like somebody was standing on my shoulders and someone else was standing on my stomach. I'm new to this site and appreciate reading stories from other banded folks. I have had my band almost 10 1/2 years. I had really great success during the early years. I realized about 3 years in I had a very strong emotional component to my eating patterns so I regained a good bit of the weight I had lost. But no fault of the band. I still feel it is the best tool for weight-loss success. I originally lost 110 pounds after I had my surgery then regained probably 80 pounds. But I am back down 50 pounds and still a work in progress. **I went back and edited this post when I realized I can't add. I had my band placed May, 2003 so that would have been 10 years not 9!
