Hello all. I have been lurking here for a while just soaking it all in and thought I would finally introduce myself. I went to my seminar this evening and made my appointment with my surgeon for next Monday. The surgical group I am going with checked with my insurance company and they don't require a waiting period, so this could all happen very quickly! The biggest thing I learned at my seminar this evening was how unprepared most people are for this surgery. The doctor even sent us a link to a 30 minute video explaining the procedure and what happens before and after. The questions people were asking made it very clear they had no idea what they were getting into. I was…

Hi, I'm Kelly. I've never participated in any online forums or anything like this. But it's the night before what will hopefully be my last appt with my nutritionist before she signs off on surgery. Our goal date is early November. Current status... Nervous that I won't be at goal weight tomorrow. I was supposed to have lost half of pre-op weight loss goal of 10lbs. I'm so ready for this surgery and just want to keep moving forward.

I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I've been lurking for a few days. I was sleeved Oct. 7 2013 so I am 6 days post-op. My surgery went smoothly, pain afterward was minimal. However, the nausea was killer for the rest of the day. By morning it was better, no throwing up but still very nauseated! I came home Tuesday but really don't remember much from that day other than the ride home was terrible and taking the liquid lortab I was given for pain and it coming right back up. I haven't touched pain meds since. The only "pain" I have had is the gas pains in my shoulder at bedtime. Today, day 6, I feel perfectly fine. My doc said if i was up to going back to work on Monday …

But so easy to fall back into old habits . Any advise would be great .. Thanks !!

I'm desperate and need advice. I got my band over three years ago and am virtually the same weight. I had my band empty for about a year after becoming so resentful that I couldn't eat "normal." I just started getting fills again but I am falling back to old habits and eating things that are easy. I feel like food is an addiction that I can't overcome. This is affecting every aspect oft life. I'm scared I'm going to be unhealthy and miserable for the rest of my life. I just want to feel good about myself again. I just want to be happy. Is anyone out there having similar struggles? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I everybody I am new to the site and am 3 months post. I am down 66 lbs. Not sure if that's a good thing. Doctor is making passing remarks about it being too much. I also am having problems getting my protein in. And having problems with meats. Also if that's not enough I am having problems with my potassium being low. Any suggestion? And how does every body feel about the G2 Gatorade? My doctors is a stickler for no citric acid of any kind. So I'm not really sure about Gatorade. Thanks

AMAZING! I had no idea RNY had a "secret society". I mean, I knew people had the surgery but since my surgery 7 weeks ago people are coming out of the wood works. What a plethora of support! I think to myself why on earth didn't I do this earlier in my life? Since I first walked into Pinnacle Health Weight Loss Center 8 months ago I have lost, to date 52 lbs (7 weeks post op). I am down 2 pant sizes and I can't get over the compliments. I was always the "you have such a pretty face" girl. If I heard that one more time I was ready to POP someone in the kisser. I have always been the over weight cousin, biggest in the family. Now, it's MY time to shine. I hav…

I have been thinking about my hair more and more lately since I am about to reach my 3 month mark since surgery in a couple of weeks. My hair is already thin and breaks pretty easy so I decided to take action. I spent some time yesterday looking for haircuts and found one I liked. Since I was very young, I always just trimmed my hair or cut several inches off at a time but always the same. This time I got a real haircut. It's shorter in the back, longer in the front and I got some bangs too. My neck feels a little naked but I like it! One of my friends told me this morning..."New weight, new hair...what's next, a convertible?" She cracks me up! She really liked my hair, s…

I started my journey on Aug. 7, 2013. I finished up all my requirements for my insurance today and my doctor's office will be submitting to insurance tomorrow! They are telling me that I should be sleeved sometime around Thanksgiving of this year! When I first started 3 months seemed like forever... now I wonder if it's enough time to make all the changes necessary before surgery. I'm excited but also feeling very nervous and scared too. I want to lose weight and be healthier but on the other hand I'm afraid to go out of my comfort zone- if that makes sense?!?! So fingers are crossed and praying for approval!

Then came September 25th. I woke up with back, abdominal, and chest pain. I thought it would go away so I ignored it and started pureed foods. The next morning I woke up around 2am in horrible pain. Eat junk food ( I can't control myself) And I literally eat a lot that I completely don't understand how possible that can be especially my stomach is so small. For example I can eat for example 10 big Peanut Butter and jelly crackers A whole cheesesteak sandwich 3 big piece of chicken cutlets 4 slice of pizzas Now I can eat that stuff and takes me less than 5 minutes to eat each one of those and then I get hungry later like an hour and go eat more. I couldn't decide for several months during my pre-op visits if I wanted the VSG or the gastric bypass. I was afraid the VSG was going to eventually be similar to the lapband and I didn't want to go through a bad experience again. I researched and researched on both procedures and finally decided with the help of my surgeon that VSG was the best procedure for me. I am not a diabetic or have any major health problems. Hello, my lap band story begins in August 2006. I was close to 300 lbs and had the lap band put in. For the first 4 years my experience was pretty normal. A few overfills, but not to the point of me ever thinking of getting it taken out. In fact I had in my mind I would have it in for the rest of my life. Then my 4th year hit and there was several complications. I had moved 5 hrs away from my doctor and no other doctor would see me at all. At that point, I began to get sick everyday no matter what I ate or drank. I had my days when I could eat and drink but for the most part the toilet was my best friend. I honestly thought my port was right under the big incision. Well it's not. It's on my right side between the two incisions. I felt it then. I have not had any port pain until today.
