Hi all, My Name is Mindy I hade my surgery in October 8, 2013 I feel great no problems with recovery went back to work after one week. But I am 2 weeks post surgery and have not had my first fill yet. Now that all the swelling is all gone I am hungrier all the time. I try to stick to the foods they have instructed me to eat but 2 ounces is not enough. Anybody else have this problem? I have lost 9-10 pounds and am happy with that and my blood sugars are awesome. I just am afraid that I am going to gain all the weight back before my fill and I just need some advice. PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS NORMAL!!! Thank you all

Hello all! I just had surgery on 10/15/13! SW 342lbs. I had an ileus post surgery, but Thursday night, I had a major "breakthrough" lol. Now, I'm dealing with chest pain....especially when I breathe and lay down. Not sure if it could be from my boobs (42h) or something else. Anybody else having these issues? Any other October surgeries? Any suggestions on getting comfy on the couch or in bed with the scars?

I weighed 245 before I began my journey. During my pre op diet I lost 7 lbs. October 16th weighing 238. The surgery went very well. I was very very scared but was well taken care of. The first night was terrible I didn't like the way the morphine made me feel so I didn't want to take it and I couldn't drink the.liquid pain med. I went through the night in a lot of pain and with the.feeling like I was being crushed on the.inside. my nurse was awesome she.came in every 15 mins to make sure I was ok. She held my hand and said for me to.focus on the future. She was my rock that.night and I made it. Afterwards it went really well and now I'm on day 9 post op no complains excep…

I'm not sure if there is already a thread here for cancer survivors or people who currently have cancer, with the sleeve or pre-sleeve? Would love to know that I'm not alone! I am a bladder cancer survivor. I have my 2.5 year scans coming up next week, along with all my pre-testing for my sleeve surgery. I have my story all printed up already because it's a long one...but I wanted to see if others have gone through cancer here? I believe it puts things into a different perspective if you've come through cancer. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer when I was 42. We found out that I was pregnant, surprise! We had already lost two babies, our son Daniel in t…

Hi, I'm new to this site. I have surgery tentatively set for October 9. I'm obese, but not morbidly obese; but two of my doctors have recommended this surgery due to other complications including fatty liver disease. I love to cook and entertain and I'm afraid that I will be hesitant to do any entertaining after the surgery. I have tried all the weight loss diets and pills and going to boot camp four times a week for three months without losing any weight. I cant tolerate the stain drugs that would help with the cholesterol and fatty liver, so this is the last thing I have to try. Has anyone else had this kind of experience? Do I have faith in this opportunity? …

I am 8 mnths out of surgery, no complications, great weight loss 113lbs. But in this last month i have been rushing all the time working out hard at the gym, not getting proper rest. Well guess what this landed me in the hospital Wednesday night with, multiple gallstones, gall bladder removal and severe dehydration. It took 6 bags of iv fluids before i even pee'd and now on bag ten and still not fully hydrated. All this could have been avoided had i just taken care of me an extra few minutes. But was sipping on kids sodas, nibbling on their burgers. So let me be a living example of how your doctors diet plan is important and so is water water water, i.will be back to m…

Hi all! I'm brand spanking new here I went for the consult and am going through the pre-op hoops, sleep apnea study, support group, etc. I am in the middle of a crummy divorce and still on the STBX's very good insurance, so he will know about it eventually. He will most likely be quite nasty about it, mocking, etc. Not a support person candidate. I'm pretty sure my mom will not be on board, she is a thoroughly decent person whom I love very much, but she will probably respond to my news by telling me to just eat more vegetables instead, etc. And my siblings are out as candidates -- negative nellies. So I'm so seriously excited about getting my life back. This soft…

Hi guys! I had my surgery October 3, I have not lost any weight, a week after my surgery I had to go back to see the Dr, because I was not able to take anything down and I was getting dehydrated, they removed all my Fluid from the band. A week later I went back and I got a fill of 3cc on a 10 cc band, I'm having my 3 meals a day. Protein veggies and drinking only Water, don't know what I'm doing wrong, I'm also tired. I'm going back on November 1st for another fill. I just wish I could've lost something. I'm getting my self scare that the lap band is not going to work for me. That it was just too good to be true! I need your opinion.

Hello. I am new to Vertical Sleeve Talk but I am not new to a sleeve. I had my surgery on 4/25/2011. I did really good for the first year but this year has been a bit rough. I have had some health issues (wrist injury) which caused me to be pretty much house bound for 6 weeks but it interfered with my ability to exercise for the past 3 months. Before this issue I had hit a plateau about half way to my goal weight. At this point I have decided that I need to do a system reboot. This system reboot includes: 1. Finding a support community that understands what it is like to live with a VSG 2. Start eating according to plan again 3. Re-read my bariatric s…

I've been lurking here for a while...but I'm ready to tell my story... I'm successful. I'm very successful. I have a great career. Great husband. Great kids. Great life. I can buy what I want and do what I want to do. At the age of 35, I have accomplished more than anyone in my family can say they ever have or maybe ever will. But, I'm fat. I'm very fat. I have a great personality and I am smart. I can afford to buy my suits from the plus size section of Neiman Marcus or Nordstroms. I wear nice perfume and keep my hair gorgeous. So, I get away with being fat. Everything I just mentioned above is from an external point of view. On the inside I am dying. I have no health…

I have the typical story...got preg and married at an early age..of course it didnt work out so 1 son and 2 miscarriges later I was starting over. I started to lose weight then got remarried and bam here comes another baby I have gained 130 pounds since high school and I am beyond sick of looking at it. I have been remarried for 8 years now and am the happiest i have ever been except my weight. I have looked into the lap bad along with gastric, sleeve and many other options. I am confident that lap band is the safest and best for me so after years of researching and wanting I am finally doing it!! November will change the rest of my life. I want to be able to go to my ki…

I wasn't the happiest person after surgery. I knew it wasn't going to be easy. But it was something worth having !! I was over weight my pre teen and teenage years. So I decided to change that and get the surgery. After I got it I went through so many mood swings and not eating at all made me feel very week. It took me about 6 months to really start eating. And getting use to my new body. I love the results I am seeing and I would get the surgery all over again. 1 year later 100 lbs lighter.

Hello!! My name is Katie. I am 33 years old and on April 8, 2013 I was sleeved at JourneyLIte of Cincinnati by Dr. Trace Curry. But that was not the start of my journey. My journey began two years earlier. When I realized that if I didn't do something, make some changes I was not going to make it to 40. Something, most likely my heart would give out on me. Changes needed to be made. I have been heavy since I was around 10 years old. The combination of puberty, and eating way too much added up. By the time I was 13 I was well over 200 lbs. So my weight is something that I have struggled with for a very long time. Things just got worse as I got older. I moved from the cit…

I was sleeved on Dec 27, 2012. I stayed 3 nights with no tv in a recovery room and basically no nurse, but on Dilaudid. They released me from the hospital not being able to keep anything down. When threw 3 weeks of withdrawals from the Dilaudid still not being able to keep anything down. They told me it was normal to have headaches like so bad I wanted to blow my brains out! Them finally they put me on IV fluids. Then scheduled a endoscopy to see what was wrong. It's now the end of January still can't keep anything down. The get in my stomach and tell me I have a stricture. Good for 3 days then starts again. Did this a total of 3 times threw February and March. The Doc te…

I am 11 days post-op and I'm afraid my sleeve has stretched!! I can drink as much as I want without getting that full tight feeling. But I get full with about a cup of soup (cream of chicken, potato, ect). Does this sound bad? I'm glad I can drink the fluids but I'm worried about it being stretched.

Hi Everybody, I need your help in obtaining the name and contact information for the receivership company that is handling the now bankrupt CIBO clinic. What started out as a happy change of life journey turned into a nightmare that is never ending. I believed in what CIBO clinic and Dr Hong were selling, to me it was to be a life changing experience, a chance to be normal so I was willing participant and shelled out thousands of dollars only to be drowning in the end looking for that life line. I did initially lose weight but since about April 2013, I started to have major issues with my lap band, I could feel it tighten, I was having difficulty eating and drinking, f…

Hello all - I've been enjoying this site for a couple of weeks now, and am finally at a place I feel comfortable sharing. I wasn't sure even what month my surgery would be up until today, so I didn't want to get 'involved' if it all feel to pieces. I started my journey in August by attending a seminar provided by Swedish Weight Loss Services in Seattle. I had pretty much made up my mind at that point to have the surgery, but it was required to even get a consult with the surgeon. I had my first appt. (3 hours long) on September 5 and saw a psch., nutritionist, medical doctor, surgeon and finally a patient coordinator. I passed all the initial testing they did and h…

OK. Here goes...... I think I should say a little something about myself since I am reading all about y'all. I got my referral from my PCP on 10/16/13 and go for my orientation/class, meeting with insurance counselor, and first apt with the surgeon/team on 11/7/13. I am going to UVA (University of VA) and am not sure who my surgeon will be yet (because it is a teaching hospital). I have been overweight my whole life and I am sure like many of you I have struggled to control it. I know I have a food addition...more like sugar addiction. I have tried so many different things; most recently I tried a drug called Qsymia with no results. It has been very frustrating. A…

Got my approval this past Friday. I am more comfortable with my decision to have the sleeve. My husband is on board..one of my daughters is now coming around with this idea. I have yoyo ed so many times ..two years ago I lost 65 pounds on MEDIFASt..gained it right back. I am exhausted with trying new diets that end up not being successful..I am not required to do a pre op diet..however, I do want to lose 10 pounds before the surgery and practice to drink 64 oz of water, chew my food well, eat slow, and started an exercise program. I am excited, scared, and hopeful..After the surgery.,I have to take care of my little pouch..I know it will be challenging at times. Th…

Howdy, My name's Blue and I've always felt fat even when I was skinny. Back in high school, I weighed 140lbs (I'm 5'7), but I thought I was fat because my two best friends at the time were teeny, tiny. One wore a size 00 (Extra, Extra Small) and the other a 0 (X-Small), whereas I thought I looked like a beached whale in my size 8/10. In addition to self esteem issues, I suffered from untreated OCD most of my life which contributed to my 100lbs weight gain over the last decade. I know the LB is not a magical cure and the hardest part is going to be retraining my brain not to reach for food as a comfort (and not to replace food with another vice like excessive drinkin…
