I was sleeved on 10/21. surgery went great no problems. I am a bit itchy on my belly but put some abt cream and that helps. my HW was 263 surgery date 253 and now 235.5. the thing is I have stayed that weight for a week. I definatly feel good but i am surprised the weight is not going down. I am seeing the DR. on thursday and i will see what he has to say. I do feel hungar but love the fact i can only eat small amounts. A day after surgery my BP was very high 179/102 and I had bad headachs called the DR and he put me back on my bp meds and now its normal. I live in Charlotte NC and would love to go to a support group just to stay on track and meet other sleevers.

Well the revision is done and now have all the answers I sought for years as to why my rny was not a full success. Come to find out intestine (rou limb) was left too long. That is now fixed. My common Channel shortened to 85cm and long limbs now the appropriate length. 3 hernias repaired that caused me so much pain. A second chance and will remember each day where I started.

Good day everyone! I guess I'm supposed to tell my story so here goes. I was 285 lbs on May 10, 2011. After being overweight or obese for virtually all of my life and following a recent diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes I decided that it was time to do something about it. I met with my surgeon for the first time on May 10th. Went through all of the pre-op testing and worked on losing the 20 to 25 lbs that the surgeon had told me was mandatory and non-negotiable. No loss, no surgery. I had my RNY on October 20th and had lost 35 lbs up to that point. I will be 27 weeks post-op tomorrow, April 26th and my weight about a week ago was 182 lbs. Like most bypass veterans, I am a huge…

My journey started in February 2013 when I attended a seminar by Dr. Brian Gluck in Muskegon, Michigan. Dr. Gluck actually did the seminar himself which showed me exactly much he believes in this tool for weight loss. I was convinced that night that I would be pursuing the surgery and that Dr. Brian Gluck would be doing it. Once approved from the insurance and all the preparations and tests done i was scheduled for surgery. The day of surgery is literally a blank I don't remember anything at all. I woke the next day no pain at all. I had no complications at all and discharged after 2 days. At my first dr appointment five days later I was already down 15 pounds, WO…

Hi Peeps, I am writing to introduce myself and tell my story. I am a yo yo dieter, I have been doing this since I was at high school (which is a far few years now). At times I am very good with my food I can control what I am eating, how much and when. Then there are times when I feel stress (always triggered by a stressful event or time in my life). I then reach for food as my comfort and start spiraling out of control eating anything everything and lots of it. Here is where I put on extra weight each time (after my time of being good and losing some weight). I then put on more than what I have lost. After many years of this I have extra weight which wont go anywhere. N…

Has anyone else gotten ischemic colitis after starting whey protein? My three month program will be done in a few days. I just got out of the hospital yesterday after eight miserable days of pain, diarrhea, and IVs. I could not find much online. So, I am home now on a low residue diet. Has anyone else had any experience with this?

I read all of these posts and i just don't get it. I have been able to drink since day 1. I can also eat my soft foods in just a couple of minutes instead of the 15-20 minutes that I've heard its taking many. I'm starting to worry that maybe I'm pushing and shouldn't be or something's wrong.

My pcp suggested that I have the gastric sleeve and directed me to Dr. Stephen Malley in Kansas City. I watched his seminar online and then made my appointment and met with him on October 23rd. Time has been speeding by at a very fast pace since then. My surgery is scheduled for November 11th which is 8 days away. I had a heart attack (1 stent) in 2011 so Dr. Malley requires that I get a clearance from my cardiologist. I met with him on Friday and it did not go well. He wants me to take a stress test before surgery. I don't think it's covered by my insurance so that is why I am dragging my feet. I also feel "what will be, will be". I am a cash patient and all th…

I just went to my first birthday party after being sleeved and since I haven't been completely outspoken about my choice to have surgery (only close friends, family and you all know) I had some really funny looks. People were like, you're losing weight, are you just starving yourself??? I ended up carrying a plate of food around with me and just moving the items around with my fork in an attempt to "look normal" and avoid questioning! How have you been able to socially avoid ALL the details? It just gets annoying and I'm only in the first leg of my journey!

My Vsg journey began 10/23/13 11 lbs down in one week????I just started the puréed stage ???? with a desperate crave to chew on something for a change. I did have oatmeal only 1/2 pk and soft scr eggs which went over pretty well. I'm dealing with lots of gas pain and indigestion. I am type 2 diabetic and pre op was on 2 insulin sand 2 pills, I came home on half the dose of Metformin only but my sugars range from 140-220 which is still better than my average of 300 but I still want to see improvement with my numbers without adding back any meds. Besides that I'm feeling great about the roads ahead. I'll take any suggestions in food ideas, advice, questions, support etc.. …

Came out of WW May 2013. Was a helper. Loved meeting people but no good for my weight. When I left I weighed 392. During the summer months I looked at my options, said enough is enough, and went for sleeve surgery on 09/18. I weighed in at 365. Since surgery I've lost 33 pounds and I feel great. So I thought I would share my pros and cons. Pros I am losing weight almost effortlessly. I am not hungry. Sometimes I crave a food but it passes. Fitting back into clothes I couldn't wear. My knees don't hurt anymore. My feet and lower legs are not swollen anymore. I don't leak urine when I cough or sneeze.(Major bonus, haha). I can put on my socks and shoes with no pr…

I am sick and tired of all the negativity that is floating around here. We are here for support and I feel that if you don't have anything nice to say then you should keep our mouth shut. We are all adults here and I understand that this is a public forum but there should be a mutual understanding for others feelings. This goes for everybody. I'm not going to call anyone out by name because I feel that has already been done. It's time to move forward. When I first came to this site in August there was so much love and understanding from people. I wanted to be included in this family. But things have went sour! Lets get that support and love back to the people who need it.…

Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Daryl and I'm from Sunny San Diego! I was sleeved last week on May 15, and today I finally got my drain removed! Phew. I hated that thing! I'm happy to say that as of today I'm down 46 pounds from when I started my pre-op liquid diet! But man, I can't wait until I can get back to the gym in full force! I can't even do my routine stretches! Oh well, I feel great! I just have a few questions, I'm currently only able to drink 1 Protein shake a day because after a few sips I feel full. I'm also drinking about 54 ounces of Water throughout the day. Should I be concerned about how little protein I'm taking? I should no…

As I approached my one year mark 10/30 since having the surgery I have had time to think about how my life has changed!! I have been off caffeine for over a year stopped back on October 8, 2012. It was a lot easier then I thought. I went cold turkey after realizing that I was drinking 3-4 large mc Donald's cokes a day, which I still have no idea how much caffeine is in that let alone sugar. I started on oct 30, 2012 weighing 242.5lbs at only 21. I am now 22 and weigh 193.4lbs I am 1.65lbs away from being half way to my goal weight. I couldn't be happier! My mom got her weight loss surgery (bypass) in March 2013 and has hit her half way mark last week! It has …

Its been a long time since I have posted. No, it's not what you think, I'm in love with my sleeve. As much as I love and want to eat carbs everyday, I cant seem to handle more than two tablespoon of pasta, rice and whatever carb I was craving for. Even fruits like banana which I use to inhale 4 big ones in a day but now, I'm always putting half of it in the fridge to eat for later. What can treat me better than my sleeve? Nothing for now. I'm in love with my sleeve (sorry hubby).

Hello, my name is Sandra, and I live in the UK. I had my band on 23rd Oct 2013 (3 days ago). Everything went really well, apart from the sore shoulders afterwards, which seem to be easing up a bit today. I really enjoy reading everyone`s story, and have gotten a little bit of useful information and tips from here and there. Are most of you in the States? It seems like everybody`s post op diet differs, I am on clear liquids for 3 days, then onto protein shakes and soups (no chunks) for 1 week, and then onto purees. My follow up visit is not for 6 weeks. Will keep you all updated with my progress :-)

I had my band surgery on 9/4/12. I wouldn't say mine is a success story (yet!!). I have only lost 41 lbs. and it has been over a year since my surgery. While thinking about this lately, I know that I have not been successful because 1. I am afraid of having the fills. I have had 3 fills but did not get any more because I am worried about food getting stuck in the band. 2. I am not exercising. I have had a hard time getting motivated and am disappointed in myself. 3. I am not eating properly. Due to my fear of getting food stuck in the band, I rarely eat meat, I eat salads and veggies and lots of soups. I know I should be eating meat, chewing it thoroughly, sm…

I had my surgery in Mexico, at Mexico Bariatric Center, because it is too expensive in the US and I didn’t want to wait 6 months as required by my insurance company. It took no time to decide on my doctor and reserve a date for my surgery with Dr. Louisiana Valenzuela at Mexico Bariatric Center. My driver Victor, who was very nice, met me at the San Diego Airport on time. He took me to the Marriott where Tatiana my care coordinator who explained my stay and logistics met me at the Marriott Tijuana. The hotel was Marriott with 5 star service and personnel. The hotel’s shuttle takes all bariatric patients to the various hospitals at 6:30am. I checked out and met severa…

I am 11 weeks post op on Friday Nov1st. My Seroma has finally went away. I went in today for my 4 th fill. I still get hungry and have only lost 7lbs. A month ago I was down 12lbs but gained five back in two weeks because apparently all swelling was down and I wasn't filling full at all. It still seems like I can eat anything with very little restriction. I'm so discouraged especially that I paid cash for my procedure. Every time I exercise the next day I am very sore at the port site which then makes me not want to exercise. I haven't seem the Dr since surgery and here where I live there is only RN's that care for you at the appointments. Dont feel like this is helping …

I'm just starting out on my journey Fletcher Allen bc. 1 month into the 6 month pre op diet. Next week I'm going for my upper GII assessment. First time for any operation. I'm a little nervous. My diet is going ok. I need to lose 13# before surgery and I'm down 8 already. I'm going to attend the group support meeting on Monday. I'm hoping the surgery will scare me thin so I won't need it but nothing really worked so far. Today is Halloween food day at work! I wonder if I can find all the foods on myfitnesspal? Must stay away! Any one part of the Fletcher Allen program?

Well hey ya'll is what we say in these parts;) I wanted to stop in and introduce myself. My screen name/topic title say's it all. My family and I just moved to the south approx. a month ago. However My Southern Sleeve Revival aka: MSSR has been a story unto it's self. It was truly a blessing in disguise I wanted it,( at the time the band) but I was scared to death of all the horri…

So I was sleeved yesterday here in Mexico and it went very well. The doctor and his staff are amazing. I wasn't in any pain until today. I think I did too much walking around this morning. I was able to drink about an ounce of water. It hurt my tummy. It was too cold. So I let it sit at room temp for a while then took another sip and felt fine. I got like 3 hours of sleep last night! Jet lag is real. But I always get like that the first day especially traveling from the East Coast. Oh and Dr quinones is very nice and knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions even though I had spoke to him over the phone several times before. I feel totally secure. I traveled alone. M…

Hello all. I'm relatively new to being banded (August 6th) on even newer to this site (yesterday). I figured I'd take a minute or two to introduce myself and say hi to the community. My name is David Pelletier and I live out in a lovely section of New Jersey. I'm married to an awesome woman, who is very supportive of my choice to get the band. I have one little boy (Drew - 2.5 years old) and a pair of little boys on the way (Noah and Mason due in the October/November timeframe). I've been overweight/obese most of my life. Was a skinny child growing up and put on weight in high school. I maintained my larger size throughout college and despite numerous attempts t…

My name is Malaika and I am 39 yrs old. I am having surgery in Tijuana by Dr. Lopez. I am getting married March 15 2014 to a wonderful man. I am the mother of 3 children that see me as perfect. Of course I see all the flaws. I was hit by a drunk driver August 2010 and left paralysed for 2 years. I just started walking last year. My spine was turned upside down so I gained a lot of weight while I was stuck in that chair. Now that God have given me another chance, I want to regain Me. I want as much of my life back as possible. I am on day 2 of the preop and the headache is horrible but worth it. I live in Birmingham so help me through this please

Hi So i have posted a few posts but really enjoy reading everyones story so I thought I would share mine. For as long as I can remember I have always been the chubby one. Ended up being a great yeat, got asked to the prom looked fantastic!!! This was my senior year. So then the years to follow going away to school I gained 50 pounds back. Back to being the chubby one. Hello all!!! Well tomorrow is my big day and I'm so nervous! I'm getting sleeved by Dr. Quinones in Mexico. I'll get to San Diego (the driver from the hospital will meet me there and drive over the border) around 10:45am so I'm having the surgery the same day. I've purchased everything I'll need when I get back. Has anyone else been sleeved by Dr. Quinones? What was your experience like? The hospital? The hotel?
