Hi! I was sleeved 10/14. Start weight was 325 and I am now 295. First week and a half I had lots if energy but now I just want to lay in bed abs sleep. I can't seem to eat enough to get my protein in. I am way way short on it and I know (at least I've read) that low protein can lead to fatigue and other serious problems. At about the week 1/2 mark food smells started making me nauseated and the taste of all the different liquids started tasting bad. Now that I am getting close to soft foods the thought almost makes me sick. Any tips on things that might be good to try to get my protein in? I can tolerate the Atkins drink if I add a banana, some milk and whey prot…

My first post...So, I am a 49 year old wife to 1, mom to 2, and grandma to 2. I am currently on leave from my job to be home with my grandbabies and help my dad after his cancer treatments. Reached my highest weight ever and decided it was time to do something for me. Now surgery is less than 36 hours away and I am more scared than excited. Sitting here debating a final meal or a bowl of cereal. Tomorrow is clear liquids in preparation for surgery. I feel very emotional about everything and am not sure if it's me or if that's pretty normal. It has been very reassuring reading everyone's posts and knowing I am not alone on this journey. Thank you and all the best to you al…

I'm two days out from surgery and getting excited. I love my job, but my mind is not in the game right now. So, I'm keeping my mind busy by thinking about what I look forward to as I lose weight. 1. Not turning sideways in close quarters to avoid hip-checking someone. 2. Flying without thinking people are thinking "I hope she doesn't sit by me." 3. Weighing less than I have in 25 years. 4. Developing a clothing style based on my personal taste and not just what I can find in a 3x 5. Wearing clothes that show my upper arms without being grossed out by myself. 6. Going to my family reunion next June and seeing the faces of people who haven't seen me since last…

I am a 36 yr old mother of two. After working in a fast paced nursing job, I landed a office desk job 13 years ago. First two years I gained 10lbs. After my first child, I kept on about 10 lb. Two more years I gained another 10-15 lb. Baby number two came. I lost Tue baby weight but was another 10 lb higher. In 2008 I went from 183 to 145 lb. After stopping the strict diet plan and very limited foods, I creeped up close to 200lb. In 2011 I visited a weight loss clinic for help. They immediately put me through the lapband process only to discover my BMI was 34.6. I stopped the process and tried a diet plan again. It resulted in losing 3-6 lbs and gaining 10+. Finally,…

I had my Lap Band Surgery in 2001, initially lost 30 kilos. Gained back 20kilos back. I had a lot of trouble with band being too tight and suffered with vomiting. After a few years now developed bowel leakage for which I am having tests done for. It has been very uncomfortable and I now have to eliminate certain foods from my diet.

Hi there - I'm Rose. I have my first consultation tomorrow with True Results here in San Antonio, TX. I've been contemplating the Lap Band for about a year now, after serious consideration I'm taking my first step. I've heard a lot of different things about the Lap Band vs. the Sleeve - I just found this site and thought I'd see what kind of feedback I'd get. 1. What is the time frame from being seen to the actual surgery? 2. On average what is the amount of weight that could be lost? (I'm 70-80 pounds over weight) 3. What are some complications that could occur? I know I'm going to ask these questions tomorrow just want to get a some other options. …

I was so excited to have the lap band and had no qualms about the surgery. I figured I would finally be thin!. HA! First, I mad e some mistakes which I own. I didn't go to the adjustments after the first 4 or 5. I felt like I was just number 10020. Having "Lurch" call my name and then have some one who didn't even look me in the eyes talk to me about "how you doin?" Then, go through the cup thing. I couldn't go back (each way was almost 45 minutes for a 5 minute check). Next, I couldn't give up the soda. OK I am hooked and can't get off. Finally, I was basically starving--living on liquids and vomiting anything larger than an M&M. so I eat (ate…

I can honestly say this has been the best decision I've ever made for myself in my entire life. I have absolutely no regrets. This morning I woke up and just went wow, what a difference a year can make! I can honestly say it's been a year of transformation, a year of learning and discovery and a year of reflection. One year ago today, I weight in at 219.5 lbs at just about 5'2 (if I stretch!) and I was wearing a size 18 pant and a 1x or 2x in tops and sweaters. I hated absol…

My surgery date is Nov. 26 and I'm trying to get my house in order and things prepared, dinners in the freezer for family, schedules written for hubby to drive kids, my question is what should I stock up on for me? Apple juice, broth, anything else anyone can suggest? Oh, and I should mention, I live in a rural area. So just running to the store real quick isn't an option for me. We do have a walmart 20 miles away. I just want to be ready and prepared! Thanks!

I have been on my journey since June 2013. Started out getting the Sleeve, but the Dr. suggested I have the G.By Pass instead due to my acid reflux. I'am 66yrs.old and wish I would have done this sooner.( I think anyway ). Not there yet. I've noticed that some of you are pre dieting before the surgery. How important is that? Sure I was told to diet , but if I was good at dieting I would not be having the surgery.I will be reading your post. Keep up the good reads. How many December surgeries?

Hi everyone, Its been 3 days since I left the hospital and I noticed by blood sugar readings fluctuating from normal 110 to 145 which is slightly high but I usually have a normal reading. I guess my body is fighting. Since I am instructed to not take my diabetic meds anymore. However I was instructed to call my doctor if I have a high reading of 200 twice or more. I guess this is normal but not sure I have a doctors appt this week so I will find out more. I would appreciate any comments or feedback on this. Thanks

My sleeve date is coming up in December, and I have already begun window shopping online for clothing in smaller sizes for women in their sixties. The last time I weighed anywhere near my goal weight of 135 was in the mid 1980's, and I wore a size 10. But I see where women weighing 140+ say they are in size 4 or 6. Have sizes changed that much over the years?????? Where can I go shopping that 140 pounds fits that small a size? Now I don't know where I will be shopping. I am confused. I normally shop online because of mobility issues, but I guess my new body is going to be so strange to me that I am going to HAVE to try things on as my weight goes down.

Thursday (yesterday): took most of the day to finish one EAS Protein shake, had a "New whey 42g protein shot (also took a couple hours). Also had a Bottle of Water to sip on all day, and a bit of Jello that evening. Today: 1/4 oatmeal made w/Apple juice and mixed w/yogurt. More water. Was beyond thankful when I began passing gas at the hospital Wednesday! Still dealing with gas pressure in my stomach (somewhat painful burps). I've been walking daily. I was banded in August of 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way Washington by Dr. Srikanth. I was 263 pounds at my heaviest and while my weight fluctuated over the years I am now at 170 and have maintained this weight for three years. I certainly have not regrests, shopping in "normal" clothing stores, exercising without being out of breath after just a few minutes, energy, no more diabetes and I could go on. It was a hard decision to make, because there was always, one more diet to try, but I have to say I don't regret it at all. The crazy thing I miss the most is still being able to "pig out" when we go out for family dinners or at the holidays, and I know it …

I do alot of walking to try to get rid of gas which is normal. Walking really helps my physical recovery. So far I have lost like 7 pounds. My first week post op is a liquid diet. I noticed just because I dont have an appetite doesnt mean the smell of food is sometimes overwhelmingly good. If anybody has any advice it is greatly appreciated. I have an appt to see the surgeon and nutritionist in one week. Thanks

No hair loss, no stalls, and minimal lose skin so far. Attached is a cheesy bikini pic that I was going to save to compare to my one year when I have abs of steel and a killer tan to match - but what the hell. I was really curious to see others post weight loss to see scaring and lose skin etc but they are really hard to find! So heres mine! Please note that this is post c-section of a 9lb baby 11 months ago! If any are brave enough to share theirs please do - I need inspiration!

In at 6:00 and out of the hospital at 11:30 (my doc does this as outpatient surgery). I could have stayed as long as I wanted, but in reality, I just wanted to sleep and that was going to be impossible in a room full of about 6 people either recovering or headed to surgery. The bottom lobes of my lungs collapsed after surgery and I developed a blood clot in my right lung. I wasn't able to get up the day of or after my surgery, I was in excruciating pain.
