Hi Jude,

Itching is normal. Histamines are release during the inflammatory stage which causes itching. Consult doc, but benadryl may do the trick. Also, if you are on narcotics, itching is a typical side effect.

On the topic of hairloss, lack of Protein will certainly encourage hair loss, however, major stress like undergoing surgery will as well. Don't get too freaked out if you see hair falling out in the early stages after surgery. Nothing you can do to prevent it, but give your body the essential building blocks to discourage excessive loss and to sustain what is already there

Protein shakes are really a personal preference thing, based typically on palate. I like Premiere Protein Shakes. 30g of protein, smaller portioned but super filling. I'm a fan of chocolate

They put my Wife on Roxicet (liquid Perocet) after surgery and wow did she get itchy but it didn't bother me when I had it. Took a couple of days for it to go away even after being off the Med.

Over the past few months I noticed posts about people not liking the same shakes post-surgery as they had for pre-op, etc. Well, now that's me. I just don't seem to want one. My husband made them for me a few days running when I came home from the hospital and they ended up sitting in the fridge until we tossed them. I feel like I should start worrying about protein at some point but for now I'm just learning how to listen to my body. I'm on day ten -- full liquids and smooth foods going into mushy-ville.....not really hungry much at all and when I am I am satisfied with a small amount. I did find myself sort of going after cottage cheese one day.

Where did you find the Premiere Protein Shakes. I live in Chicago.
