Introduction...

Hello all. I have been lurking here for a while just soaking it all in and thought I would finally introduce myself. I went to my seminar this evening and made my appointment with my surgeon for next Monday. The surgical group I am going with checked with my insurance company and they don't require a waiting period, so this could all happen very quickly! The biggest thing I learned at my seminar this evening was how unprepared most people are for this surgery. The doctor even sent us a link to a 30 minute video explaining the procedure and what happens before and after. The questions people were asking made it very clear they had no idea what they were getting into. I was shocked! It's no wonder there are people who are unsuccessful if this is how unprepared they are. I am determined to make this count and get rid of this weight once and for all! I have learned so much from all of you and plan to continue to soak up your knowledge and pick your brains on occasion. So, I'll see ya around!

hello back, this is a great site. i don't have access to support groups so this site is my support group. i have learned so much from the ppl on here. i take what they advise and ask my doctor about it. i was all prepared for gastric bypass but because of problems i came out of surgery with a lap band. so i'm learning as i go. keep coming back and good luck to you

Hi Misty, excited to have so many people to bounce ideas off of and for general support. This has been enormously helpful to me as I've been going through the process of appointments, etc. My surgery is three weeks from today and I feel well prepared mostly because of being a part of this forum and reading all I can. Exciting times ahead!
