Hi everyone! I am 5 days post op from my sleeve and have been thinking about Dr. Weiner's long term nutrition goals that he gives his patients. I know I am a long way out but I would love some opinions from those of you who are WLS veterans. I know that my practice, as well as many/most others really stress the importance of high high protein diets and protein first. If you have watched Dr Weiner's videos or read his book, you know that he is more of a believer in lots of veggies, fruits, seeds, nuts and legumes and lean proteins-poultry and fish-he's not a beef fan. His recommended protein levels aren't as high as what my practice instructs, or what I have seen on this …

  3. Hi guys! So I’m wondering if I am eating too much. I can eat about a third of a cup. Maybe a little more depending on what it is. I had VSG. I have become obsessed with figuring out if I’m eating too much or not. Like right now I had 2/3 ish of a beddar cheddar sausage from Johnsonville and they are about 2.3 oz each. I could have eaten the whole thing though. I’m just really worried and combined with this almost month long stall I’ve had I’m feeling really down. I’m not getting all my water in, it’s really hard but I do usually get at least 40-50 oz a day but I’m supposed to get at least 64 oz per my dr. Help me out please! Thank you.

Hello, I just ordered the patches for vitamin D and Iron. I was wondering, is there anyone that has positive results from them yet? such as seeing your blood work improving? Also, anyone have a suggestion on the protein drinks on here that are good. I ordered some and will post a comment on what I think after I try them.

I’m in week 2 of my post op stage and I can barely handle anything that isn’t ice. I’m suppose to be able to eat cream soups and even that gives my stomach the blues, along with the gas medicine I’m on I feel doesn’t help at all! Is anyone else having this issue? I’ve been forcing myself to eat some things so that I don’t end up in the hospital but I thought this was suppose to get better and it seems to only be getting worse! Help!!

  9. Hi there, I am cleaning out my pantry and have quite a bit of high protein low carb foods for pre and post op diet. Protein powders snacks jello Gatorade and the whatnot. If you’re in the Phoenix, AZ area feel free to message me and we can set something up. It’s free. Some might be open and partially used, but it’s mostly unopened and barely used. I just can’t stand the sight of any of it anymore. Soups, liquids, etc. I’ll even deliver. I know how expensive it can be so I’m just wanting to help since I’m mostly healed post surgery and am back to normal foods.

Hi! I’m about 7 weeks post vgs...I’ve noticed some foods I LOVED before that I cannot eat now. Mainly over easy eggs (the yolks!!!) I can eat scrambled but not soft. Also coffee!!! I drank a lot before. I know it’s not good to drink a lot but I thought I would enjoy a very small half cup this morning. I couldn’t choke it down. Also certain types of Turkey luncheon meats. Anyone else??

  16. Just wanted to share something I've been having over the last few days. I had a craving for some Thai tea. It is normally made with condensed milk. I bought the tea at a local store, prepared it as instructed. Instead of sugar I used Swerve. I let the tea sit for a few hours. Then sifted the tea and placed it in the refrigerator. The next day I poured about half a cup of tea over ice and then about half a bottle of vanilla Premier Protein. I enjoy the flavorful spices in the tea and the sweetness.

I bought the tespo, I originally used patches, surgeon is making me buy his recommendation too and I still don’t know what the heck I actually want to do post op. I need the easiest regimen. What is yours? Picture of products, how much you spend monthly, and the schedule you take them on.. Also have synthroid to add in too and I think that is what’s stressing me out because I’ll prob have to take that in the middle of the night considering that can’t be taken with any form of iron or calcium.

  22. I started on my pureed stage today. My doctor told me I'm allowed to add in creamy soups, tune, blended chicken and blended fish. I gave tuna a try with a bit of mayo. I had about 2 oz with two crackers. Chewed it a bunch of times until mush and then swallowed. Not even 10 min later I threw it up. Did this happen to anyone else? Not I'm afraid and just want to continue with my fluids

Finding some great options, including some pre prepped stuff at the grocery stores near me. (High protein packs with cubed deli meat and cheese for an occasional lunch on the go, chopped fresh fruit and veggies, trimmed lean meat etc. to make dinner prep easier, and even a packaged meal I could eat in a pinch on a busy night) Since I will be eating less food, I’m willing to pay a little more for convenience. All of my life I have been an emotional eater hence why I am over weight, but since I started the process of getting the gastric sleeve my eating has changed. My surgery is scheduled for the 12 of February, and I am in college pursuing my nursing degree. I am stressed out all the time, so I am not eating and when I try to eat I feel sick. I have done a complete 180. I don’t know what to do I have lost 2 pounds in the last three days, and I’m worried it might get worse. Any advice? Hi ladies, I am currently 16 months post op with pcos and I have lost 100 kilos. At 12 months we were given the go ahead to try for a baby but my periods stopped. After months of testing they found I have really low estrogen due to the rapid weightloss ( apparently this is common). We are starting induced ovulation with fsh injections next week. I'm just wondering what you eat/ate while trying to conceive or once you were pregnant?

  29. Hey y’all! I’m trying to plan ahead and find some things that I think will be my go to sources of nutrition post surgery. When I was on WW, I used to blend chocolate premier protein shakes with pb2 and ice to make it taste kinda like an actual milkshake. Not bad! After reading several posts about cold things hurting when you swallow after VSG, I’m concerned about having to ingest things at room temperature. I can drink water either way, but can’t tolerate the taste of a lukewarm protein shake! ? Anyone try blending yours with ice after surgery? Did it hurt going down?

I figured out I am lactose intolerant after the three week liquid diet of being nauseous all the time barely getting down any of the whey protein shakes or cream soups. After trying a plant based pea protein shake and not having any symptoms we figured out the problem. Relief!!! So happy to have found the solution!!! Now I am looking into more plant based protein most of I have never tried or can’t pronounce. This is exciting and makes me nervous at the same time to be making such a huge change. Any suggestions for what to try at first? I get overwhelmed looking online. I’m not the best in the kitchen but am eager to start trying new things. Thank you all for your suppo…

Hi guys, I ran a search but not much popped up. I've been on a ketogenic diet (high fat, moderate Protein, very low carb - basically the induction to Atkins except you keep it up forever) for the last 15 months. I know it's not a very well-understood diet and gets a lot of flak, but it's been great for me. I'm healthier than I've ever been and I adore this style of eating so much. The only problem is I hit a wall hard in the weight-loss department, hence the surgery. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience eating this way post-op? I know low-fat gets pushed a lot in surgeon-recommended diets, but I'm not sure if that's because low-fat is part of the government's id…
