Just getting started and I want to invest in a blender or smoothie maker for smoothies (neeed something strong enough with ice). I also plan to use after surgery for puréed stage etc. what do you have or suggest is the best. I want something that's gonna last and is easy to clean/put away. My experience in the past with standard blenders is that they don't blend ice or chunks well enough or get dull after a bit.

I finally had the chance to get my hands on Real Good Pizza without having to order a case. I had a Supreme. I am a pizza snob so I fully admit my bias, and just is just my opinion which is entirely subjective. My opinion High in Calories - It is a mini pizza, think smaller than personal pan, but 260 calories for 1/2 a pizza, so a whole pizza is 520 calories. 1/2 a pizza is 135 grams, which is 4.7 ounces. It is really saucy and not dense at all. I was able to eat a whole pizza and I am not even full. I am kind of pissed right now because I blew a ton of calories on it and I could have had a pork chop for lunch instead and be full for a couple hours. Ta…

This is mainly for people in the United States. I see almost everyone on here referring to their nutritionist. My question are you really seeing a nutritionist and not a registered dietitian, or is it just a terminology error. I'd caution if you are seeing a nutritionist, and not a registered dietitian. There is no actually professional certification for a nutritionist unlikely a registered dietician. A registered dietitian is a board certified professional similar to a doctor or nurse. FYI

Hi sorry if this is TMI ... but just wanted to get some input. I'm 7 months out from sleeve surgery and I've been doing great. The occasional dumping if I eat something I'm Not suppose too.... however suddenly the past 5 days I haven't been able to hold anything down! I think I had food poisoning from some fish I ate the first two days... but it hasn't stopped. Any little thing I eat runs thru me... even water makes me go to the bathroom #2! we are all familiar with prepared meal delivery services like Blue Apron, Plated, Peached Dish, etc. but this one seems to take the cake in terms of optimally healthy, whole-food, paleo/keto food. it's called Factor 75. https://www.factor75.com/nutrition anyone try this yet? i know all of these services are pretty expensive, but for us bariatric patients with smaller eating capacities, i bet one meal could serve as two (lunch and dinner). the meals seem to be about 400-500 calories each and have the ideal macronutrient ratio. everything is grass-fed, local, organic. seems like the perfect solution for single (or married) folk who haven't the …

Anyone have a good Bariatric Nutritionist in the Frisco area?? I've been trying to find one since we moved here, but have had no luck. I was doing some online nutrition counseling which was completely paid for by my insurance, but the girl just disappeared one day and stopped all communication. Would love to hear if anyone has any recommendations. Separately, would love to know if there are any support groups here in Frisco as well. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

A) friends, family and environment their stomach and intestines C) their mind, thoughts and emotions D) all of the above At first I thought it was C... but then I went back and thought about it.... A) my nutritionist, mom, and boyfriend influence me to eat healthy. if I eat a ton of cabbage and it gives me gas I won't eat much of it next time. If I eat sushi and it gives me food poisoning and turns my stomach, I won't eat it for a while or never again. I feel like I'm thinking way too much into it... any thoughts?

HELP I am in the regular food phase but not the least bit hungry. Nothing seems to sound good. When I eat, an egg, or some tuna, or some salad, all I can have is a few bites. I feel hungry, yet I don't. I do get down a protein shake and do try and concentrate on water and protein but just wonder if I am ever going to want to sit down and have somewhat of a meal. I am 5 weeks out and just approved for regular food.

I am almost 4 weeks Post op from Sleeve. At my 3 week follow up, my dr said I could take any over the counter vitamin I wanted. He said I could swallow them didn't have to be chewable or baractric formulated. I am already taking biotin and b12 which are dissolvable. I am throughly confused now and told my dr I was because I had read and been told read vitamins needed to be chewable. He said just take vitamins didn't matter. So can someone please help!!! What are the best tasting chewable vitamins to take? Also what type of calcium? I have heard calcium citrate and also it was ok for plain calcium.. Your diet has almost certainly changed since weight loss surgery. A good portion of the change is because of doctor’s orders: you may not be allowed to eat or drink soft drinks, sweets, fried foods, white bread, and other calorie-dense, nutrient-poor choices. Some of the changes in your diet may be because of changes in your digestive system after weight loss surgery. With the gastric sleeve and bypass, you might have trouble tolerating sweets, starchy foods, and fatty or greasy foods. This can be helpful for weight loss and may even be a reason why you chose that type of weight loss surgery. Some of the foods you cannot tolerate anymore may be surprises or disa…

Hey guys! I recently moved to start a graduate program and I am now busier than ever and living alone. Needless to say, cooking has become a really daunting task. Even when I do have time for cooking, I have trouble figuring out how to cook for one person who eats half or less of what an average person eats. Any guidance from veterans or people in a similar situation?

Breakfast: Banana split! Sort of. Another great one for the kids. Think about a banana split, but with cottage cheese instead of ice cream, and berries instead of fudge topping. Of course the kids can make them with chocolate chips and cereal. Lunch: I wanted a big burger, and settled for a sort of bunless double burger. Portabello mushroom with a turkey burger and the works: ketchup, mustard, pickle, lettuce, tomato, and onion. I didn’t have potato chips (well, maybe just a couple) or a bun. It was a knife and fork kind of burger, plus baby carrots. Dinner: I made chili because it’s easy and it will give me leftovers for the coming week. Oh, and because I had t…

Eating on the go Friday, but I think I’m ready. Here is what I am planning to have. Breakfast: Greek yogurt with strawberries and a whole wheat mini bagel Lunch: Probably Subway. I’ll probably go for a salad with turkey breast and provolone. I’ll bring my own apple. Dinner: Looking like dinner with some friends, probably at an American restaurant (nothing exotic). Hopefully I’ll just find a chicken salad with light dressing or get some chicken or fish with veggies. Let’s have a little Friday fun and remember – if you post your menu each day this week (Monday through Sunday), you will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift card to The BariatricPal…

Yesterday was…okay. I kept the cookies in check! Here’s the goal today. Breakfast: Whole wheat mini bagel with peanut butter and blueberries Lunch: From a Greek place nearby. Fast, easy, and healthy. Roasted chicken, salad (just a side salad, probably don’t need the feta cheese in a Greek salad), hummus. Dinner: Turkey cheeseburger, high-fiber bun, and the works: ketchup, pickles, lettuce, tomato. Cooked spinach, because there’s some in my fridge. Maybe an orange. Snacks: Protein bar (chocolate almond) What is your Wednesday looking like (or how did it go?) and remember – if you post your menu each day this week (Monday through Sunday), you will b…

Yesterday was good…hopefully today will be, too! Here is my goal for today. Breakfast: Oatmeal cookies with non-fat cream cheese. The cookies have 10 grams of protein per serving. Strawberries. Lunch: Going out with work colleagues (a business lunch). I don’t know where we’re going. It might be Olive Garden (herbed salmon!). An apple for afterwards if needed. Dinner: Hopefully I can make up for whatever damage lunch will do. The plan here is chicken breast with a lemon pepper sauce/marinade, broccoli, and rice. Snacks: Probably oatmeal protein cookies. I made a batch with Protein Oatmeal Cookie Baking Mix and they are tempting! I’ll probably freeze som…

Breakfast: Oatmeal pancakes with oats and pancake mix. Good for the kids! Plus cantaloupe. No pancake syrup for me. Is maple syrup good for weight loss? It’s natural, right? Lunch: coleslaw with shredded cabbage mix and walnuts and Asian dressing and feta cheese. Actually, it was good! Dinner: When in Rome, do as the Romans do…actually, never mind. When in a Chinese restaurant, don’t order the egg rolls, white rice, and sweet and sour chicken. Order Broccoli Chicken. And I did! The fortune cookie could not have done too much damage, and I am sure it would have been bad luck to pass it up. So I didn’t. How did your day go? Good start to the weekend?

I had weight loss surgery in 2003 since then I have had majior complications. I now am unable to eat or drink enough and absorb it to keep me alive. So I have a port a cath implanted in my chest that I get hydration and TPN ( food ) from at night. I'm 38 and they just told me yesterday I am out of options and this will be my normal. That would be okay if the tpn didn't attack you over and now put me at stage 3 liver fibrosis. I feel so defeated physically and psychologically. Anyone else experiencing anything similar!?! I'm in rough spot andcould sure use some advice!

Happy Friday! I hope it was a good one for you! Breakfast: oatmeal with frozen blueberries, and walnuts. Again. Am I stuck in a rut? At least it’s healthy. Lunch: Knowing dinner may not be the best…A Greek salad with chicken breast. I added some raspberries. Dinner: Sometimes you have to have fun and go out with friends, but I still made an effort. Italian. Minestrone soup and 2 slices of thin crust pizza with chicken, artichokes, and parmesan. A freshly baked breadstick. How can you resist? At least I didn’t have a bowl of pasta! A small piece of chocolate cake – we split it three ways. This day wasn’t the best, but I think I did well under the circum…

This was my day. How did yours go? Breakfast: Oatmeal, frozen blueberries, and walnuts. Lunch: 2 chicken soft tacos, yes, from a chain that you might be able to guess! With refried beans, double salsa, sour cream, and cheese. I only ate one of the tortillas. They’re not bad, though – not too many carbs! I looked them up online afterwards. Dinner: Chicken breast with lemon pepper marinade. Microwaved frozen brussels sprouts on the side. I’m not always much of a chef, but at least I got my protein and veggies in at this meal. Dessert: It happens, and I don’t fight it. It was ice cream time, and I savored every spoonful of the full-fat stuff. Okay, m…

The day went…okay! Here’s the run-down. Breakfast: 2 slices of whole wheat toast with scrambled eggs. Lunch: Caught empty-handed with no great options. I settled for packaged convenience food, which actually wasn’t too bad. I had a yogurt, an ounce of beef jerky, an orange, and a little tray of baby carrots and grape tomatoes. Dinner: Starving from busy afternoon with no snack, and no time to cook. Huge salad with romaine lettuce (pre-cut bag – easier!), grape tomatoes, and a scoop of tuna. Honey mustard dressing. 1 slice whole wheat toast with peanut butter. Snack: blue cheese. Why? I don’t know. I felt like it. My meals were not gourmet, but the…

Starting off the week right…How long will it last?! Breakfast: oatmeal, strawberries Snack: string cheese Lunch: From last night’s leftovers. Brown rice with chicken and cooked veggie mix. Dinner: Leftovers are great when you’re hungry and in a rush! Embarrassingly, again with the brown rice, chicken, and veggie mix. I had a lot of veggies – I was hungry! Snack: Protein bar. Caramel brownie. A busy Monday, so quick and easy foods! Share your Monday menu, as planned and as it actually happened!

The right food choices are essential to weight loss surgery success, but the right portion sizes are just as important. Eat too much, and you can stop losing weight or harm your health. The dangers of “too much” are obvious with unhealthy foods – consider eating a hundreds of calories’ worth of brownies in a few bites and getting dumping syndrome soon afterwards – but they are also present with healthy foods. You can easily get way too many calories from healthy or high-protein, low-carb foods such as Peanut Butter, cheese, avocados, and even Protein shakes and bars, if you do not regulate portions. The result shows up on the scale. Even with low-calorie foods…

After weight loss surgery, you may need to eat three to six small meals and snacks per day, plus drink at least 64 ounces of fluids at times separate from your meals. Add your nearly constant eating and drinking to a busy lifestyle, and you probably have quite a few strategies for hitting your nutrition and fluid needs! Which meal and snack helpers do you use? Do you live off of protein bars and shake powders? Do you use pre-packaged salads and pre-cut veggies? Do you take advantage of ready-to-eat products such as rotisserie chicken, yogurt, and string cheese? Also, what are your indispensable helpers for taking your food and drinks everywhere wit…
