I deeply enjoy baking for other people (workmates, neighbors, family), does this end once surgery happens? I usually don't even want or eat the stuff I bake. I just enjoy the process. Unfortunately, I use taste the batter or similar to test flavor profiles. It's my creative outlet. I'm worried that once I get surgery Ill lose this outlet. I'm not over excited about making healthy versions of things for other people. Is this the case?

Hi everyone, I’m 6 weeks out and 19lbs down. I’m not eating much because my tummy can be moody and the idea of eating makes me anxious. I’m trying to build my courage with recipes but I see so much cheese everywhere - and as a patient who had terrible constipation, it makes me weary. So I have two questions: 1) Why is there so much cheese out there? Is it because of macros or nutritional value or taste? 2) What are your non-cheese recipes? Thanks in advance!

  7. I’ve always been anemic, even as a child. I had my Gastric Bypass in December 2012. As of late I’ve had an increasing problem with my blood levels and several of my vitamins and minerals testing dangerously low, especially my Iron levels. I found an article on the issue and how intravenous infusions may successfully address the issue: http://bariatrictimes.com/intravenous-micronutrient-therapy-imnt-for-gastric-bypass-patients-a-solution-to-complications-of-an-often-unrecognized-problem/ Has anybody else had this problem and if so what option(s) did you explore to address it?

Hello guys, so I’m 9 months post op down 80lbs. This past week temptation won and i had my first diet soda of the year. My doctor said that the “stretching of your stomach” due to soda had notruth behind it, and it’s more of a bad habit that can lead back down to obesity. My question is, who, if anyone, has started back on drinking Diet Coke and how far along our? Has it created negative impact in your weight loss? Had it led down to other negative eating habits?

Hi all, I am looking for a dietician in the DFW area. Any recommendations? Been stuck in the 310 area, down from 432, but I still want to get to 240. I was back to 325, but started doing Keto, and came back down to the 310 area. Usually floating between 310 and 314. Been stuck for last year and a half, roughly, and feeling frustrated. Thanks in advance.

I had my surgery on 4/19/17. I have had a sore mouth and tongue. My tongue swells and I have severe pain. It burns severely and is dry. I use several dry mouth products to try and help. Well they don't do any good. The Inside of my lips get raw sore spots, too. I'm just taking a shot to see if anyone else had any problems like that.

I’m now all about organic /real/ and very clean eating. I refuse to eat processed food with artificial anything. I have great recommendations for very clean vegan protein powder and the best liquid vitamin solution. Send me a note for recommendations.

Hello all I am 5 weeks out from RNY and have started getting nauseous from my Protein Supplements. I am using Premier Protein shakes and Isopure unflavoured powder and another type of powder that is juice flavoured. I was tolerating them in the beginning but they are not sitting well anymore. Anyone else have luck solving this problem?

  17. Started by KCgirl061,

So I’m on my 2 week preop liquid diet and we decided to go camping this weekend. (Which was its own brand of hell in itself). I decided to freeze a couple bottles of Premier so they could naturally thaw in the cooler Saturday and be cold for today (Sun). Oh man, it did some weird separation in the thawing process and ended up being chunky. So not only did I have to endure my family enjoying grilled hamburgers, corn on the cob, and s’mores around the campfire, I had to choke down chunky peach premier.

I would love to hear from others who struggle with eating too much sugar and how you manage that. For now, I'm sticking with abstaining from eating desserts, but I continue to hope for achieving the ability to eat sweets in moderation. I'm wondering if anyone has found it possible to do so, but in light of having been a person who has a long history of sweets being a slippery slope- have some, want more and more and more. It has every feature of alcoholism, but the substance is desserts, not alcohol.

I am wondering if I need to suppliment my diet with extra electrolytes. I have noticed increased tiredness as.my couch to 5k training has kicked up into longer jogging intervals. Mowing the yard today, I had an unquenchable thirst (also in a heat wave, but still drank over 48 ounces over a couple hours). I coincidentally found an old stash of electrolyte tabs, did some brief research and it seems that electrolytes will help with water retention (weight stalls?) and when thirst is not easily hydrated. I am extremely active now. At gym 6-7 days a week, 4 hours fencing classes a week, and couch to 5k training every other day. So, could I be putting a strain on my electr…

I am about 8 weeks post op and I have been struggling with making good eating choices this last week or so. I went on vacation and I feel like that really pushed me over the line. I ate a lot of things I know I shouldn’t over the course of the 5 days with the excuse that it was just this week but now I’m afraid of not being able to stop. I need some encouragement and tips on how to vacation without over eating and feel like I’m losing out. FOMO hardcore right now.

Anyone tried the new weight watchers freestyle? It looks pretty compatible with the bariatric diet. Lean protine, fruit, and veggies are free (don't have to track/count) You're given daily points for healthy fats, red meat, and whole grains (to help limit consumption to healthy amounts) And a weekly budget for treats (sugar is very "expensive" on the new program) Anyone tried it? Thoughts?

So for most of my adult life I have been a huge coffee fan. Like, 3-4 cups a day, and not just for the energy but love of the taste and the experience. Inexplicably, I've lost all desire for coffee post-op: I'm a month out and still no signs of interest returning. I get some caffeine with a bottle of Bai most days (that stuff is good!), but no desire for coffee whatsoever. Has this happened to any of you? And if so, did your taste for coffee return?

Hello, so I had my first post op appointment with my surgeon yesterday. She said my scars healed really good. After surgery I really didn’t have any pain other than gas but that went away pretty quick since I walked a lot. Anyways she approved me for full activity no restrictions. I’m 3 weeks post op and I want to go to the gym but I am a little nervous about maybe hurting myself. I went to reach for something yesterday and felt some pain reaching too high. I’m wondering if I am fully ready or should I just start small? Anyone with advice or things I can do?

About a week ago, I was cleared to start creamed soups. I made a sweet potato soup that lasted awhile, a taco soup (took the edge off from cravings), my fiance and I went out to eat for our anniversary and I tried a lobster bisque, and I tried a clam chowder. Now when I eat I don't get full fast like the previous week and I'm SO nervous about failing. I also gained 1.7 pounds... I'm about ready to just do broth again. Obviously I'm doing this wrong, but what kind of creamed soups should I even eat? I still will occasionally have traces of dairy in something I eat, but I'm working on switching to a vegan diet.
