  1. As the title says, what are some of your favorite sugar-free foods, treats, or snacks? What about food substatutes or alternatives (eg. zucchini chips instead of potato chips)?

I'm wondering about fried foods. Will we ever be able to tolerate fried shrimp or chicken nuggets? Wondering about protein on the road or at a theme park.

  5. Hello guys. I had a concern regarding my sleeve. It is weird but I am 10 days post op and can eat bigger amount of food than what I see on internet. If I try it is possible and no vomiting for example I can finish 4 boiled eggs or a cup of ice cream. Did it happen to somebody? I am a bit worried that maybe my stomach is still big. Thanks

  6. Hello everyone, I went to Turkey to do my sleeve 2 weeks ago. So far everything is fine. But it is time for me to remove my drain stitches and no hospital and nurse want to remove it since it has been done abroad. Anyone here had it's surgery done outside of Canada and can share adress of a clinic who accepted to remove it's stitches? Thanks a lot

I’m freaking out a little. Over a year post sleeve and For breakfast I eat 150g quark (low fat Greek yogurt kind of) with 70g strawberries and 30g protein granola. I’ve watched way too many videos on YouTube that state after one year your plate should only be a total of 170grams. It’s a full children’s bowl. Is that normal? ? dinner I eat really healthy but it weight up to 250-300grams total of protein and veggies. I have not gained any weight but it’s scary to see that I’m able to eat almost a full small plate of food

I am 5 weeks post-op and I'm following all the rules; protein, water, nd exercise and I've only lost 1 pound in the last week. Suggestions?

Nasoya pasta zero are really good noodles, I made chicken noodle soup with them the other night and added some garlic seasoning. They're made out of the konjac plants root.

Hi everyone I’m 3 days out. I’m curious how long that feeling of stitch pulling lasted for everyone? I know I’m going to be sore but the sharp feeling of the stitches pulling inside is so painful. Any tips or tricks? Also does jello count as a “clear liquid “?

  13. My surgery date is in June 3rd! My current weight is 109,4kg but my highest weight was 117kg. I spoke to my surgeon on Monday (May 17th) about liquide diet pré-op, he said in France this is not necessary. It’s done in US countries. So no liquide is required for me.

  14. Started by Dame21,

So I finally got a new scale and my weight is higher than I thought. I'm 10 weeks post op and I've lost 25 pounds. And I don't think I've lost anything in a month or more. Starting weight was 316 on day of surgery. I'm bouncing between 292 and 288. Is this normal? What am I doing wrong? I'm only walking at the moment for exercise. I'm between 800 and 1000 calories daily. How is my body holding onto it's excess at such a calorie deficit???

So I keep seeing videos on a pineapple drink that helps you lose weight. I'm wondering if anyone has tried it?

  16. Started by JessCrop,

My surgery was just this past Monday, May 10th. I miss chugging big gulps of ice cold water. I’m ok with taking little sips for now, while my stomach heals. But will there be a time I can gulp cold water again? And if so, how long did it take you?

Hi does anyone get a time when they are always hungry and can eat more. I don’t have periods anymore but there is 3 days, must be before i am meant to have my period where i am always hungry and crave carbs and chocolate and i can eat so much more than usual. Does anyone else get this ? Any advice ? I am currently waiting to be put on the correct HRT as i feel i am cracking up.

  18. I was almost late for work today because I experienced a major blockage that surpasses anything I've gone through after surgery. Admittedly I started a new job and went back to the office a week and a half ago and my water consumption has been dismal. What supplements and foods do you find most helpful? I'm not big on buying tons of veggies because they go to waste. At this point I think a supplement would be best just to get me halfway regular again.

So how does everyone feel about using Podwer Protein insted of the ready to drink i know they are way more convenient but sometimes a little more expensive also how do you prepare the powder so it equals the amount of protein and calories your supposed to have (not sure if that makes any sense) i hope it does am on the fence my surgery is April 26 and i haven't been able to buy anything i can't afford anything hopefully i can get some stuff beginning of the month.

  21. I have read a bazillion posts looking for a vitamin supplement that will be a once a day sort of thing. I want to have the right vitamins to nourish my body but not something that I have to carry around and try to remember to take at intervals throughout the day. Does something like this even exist? I understand that I may need more than one vitamin, I just was hoping that once a day and done was possible. My surgery is scheduled for the 30th of this month in Mexico

  22. I lost 15 pounds week one and not a pound since. I’m a month post op tomorrow and I can also eat a whole sandwich before I get full. I’m so irritated. I did the surgery for the restriction

  23. Looking to add some variety to my protein shake intake. They sound good but I wonder if they’re strangely textured or overly sweet. Anyone try them? TIA editing: the name is Premier Protein with Oats

Ok so! This is just my very happy rec post for the quest protein chips, but specifically the chile lime flavor! One of my favorite snacks pre-surgery was Takis and Chile Lime Doritoes, so for a while I havent found anything that really scratched that itch yknow? (since I got my surgery a year and a half ago, specifically lol) I had the quest chips before in cheddar and it was meh to me, so I was hesitant when buying chile lime, but I was pleasantly suprised! If you are, like me, a spicy chip lover, check out these!

I'm on puree getting ready to transition to soft. Any ideas.

  26. I haven’t been able to find any info on this but I am curious where soft protein bars (Built bars in particular because of the macros) fit in a Bariatric diet? Would these be able to be added in for the soft foods phase, or are they considered an after on the “regular” diet? These have a soft consistency, no chunks, and 5G of sugar or less so I’d like to add them in. Just not sure where.

Hi, I am new to the community and I'm starting my 6 month nutrition coaching before surgery, first appointment done. But I was looking to start eating sugar free things and get my mind and body use to them and I started noticing all of them used Aceaulfame Potassium, Aspartame,Saccharin and Sucralose. I always avoided these in the past but now even on this app and the things I find online, all have this as a substitute. So I was wondering if anyone found any pudding, protein powder or shakes or anything of that sort with Stevia or Erythritol instead?

  34. Hello, I started my pureed diet yesterday. I started with a v8, which went wonderful. Today I cooked up some soft scrambled eggs and melted low fat mozzarella cheese over it. I put one tablespoon on my plate. Each bite is a baby spoon, chew 20 times each spoonful, wait 20 seconds for before I grab my next spoonful, and have been eating for 20 minutes. At the pureed stage, or any, how do I know when I'm full? How do I know when to stop?

This weekend, I had a very unusual and uncomfortable experience, but I imagine it's not that uncommon among those of us who have had bariatric surgery. My husband and I were taken out to dinner by a business associate of my husband's. There were six people at dinner and the gentleman who was buying is well known for his excessiveness. He ordered incredible amounts of food for the table, including appetizers, entrees, desserts and multiple bottles of wine. The dinner was a marathon, and I tried to keep up well enough, pacing myself and pushing food around on my plate, etc. However, when my husband got up to use the restroom, our "host" (who by then had had more …

I just went back to work and noticed that I am eating way more than when I was at home. I might be consuming 100-200 extra calories now. So I am probably at 500-600 cals a day. I am following my diet plan and sticking to protein rich, low fat foods. l I do have a fairly active job and am walking around and standing a lot; however it does not get too strenuous. I also work 12 hour days. Has anyone else experienced more hunger after going back to work? Is it ok to be eating this much 5 weeks post op?

  39. My bariatric nutritionist and doctor’s office recommended the Bariatric Fusion brand of chewable multivitamins to take 4x daily basically for the rest of my life. When reading the package, there’s a Proposition 65 warning: “Warning: consuming this product can expose you to chemicals including lead, which are known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.” I didn’t find much after searching online aside from a lawsuit and settlement agreement about lead in their products from 2018, and related health and safety code violation. Anybody slurpped down a raw oyster yet? They have lots of Protein and very little fat, but they may not chew up that well. I am a month post-op and looking for interesting options. Sent from my iPad using VST

  41. My Dr requires I use either bariatric fusion or bariatric advantage protein powder for my pre-op diet. I was given samples of all of the flavors of the b.a. except the coffee flavored and the orange cream. I was wondering if anyone has tried the Orange Cream and what they thought of it? So far I'm not a fan of either brand but I'm required to purchase 2 tubs of one brand from the drs. And I really don't want to be stuck with awful flavors.

Yet another study on the effects of artificial sweeteners. I like stevia/xylitol but when it’s not available I will use Splenda. The WLS & WL community *probably* consumes the second highest quantity of artificial sweeteners *probably* only surpassed by diabetics. https://www.news-medical.net/news/20210228/Commonly-used-sweeteners-may-promote-antibiotic-resistance.aspx Journal reference: Yu Z, et al. Day 3 of pre op liquid diet. Surgery in 5 days on 2/23 which is 11 weeks from when I should have gotten it done but postponed because of Covid spike. I have been reading how much weight people lost in the first 90 days or so and it is inspiring! I understand there will be some rough times ahead but I know this is going to be worth it! I should be back home this time next week thinking what the Hell have I done but tht too will pass. I have enjoyed lot of good reading and gained a bit of knowledge on here in a short time. Let the journey begin!

Today, I was reading a list of guidelines regarding supplies that households should keep on hand to survive 3 or more days in case of earthquakes, winter utility outages, etc. One prominent requirement is to have non-perishable foods stocked, for example, but many of the emergency kits seem to be hugely slanted towards pasta. I wonder if anyone here keep an emergency kit stocked, and, if so, what do you stock for your non-perishable bariatric food needs?
