Hello! Every plan is different, so I'd ask your nutritionist.. For me they are" technically" cleared for us at 6 weeks, as in they won't cause any issues, but they told us to avoid them until we're atleast 6 months out but ideally closer to maintaining. She said they're have Protein and healthy fats but they're so high in calories she said it's really easy to over indulge on them.

I had RNY gastric bypass surgery. In the booklet of instructions I received, there was a page titled:

To maximize weight loss the following foods should be avoided.

In that lists was NUTS.

I know nuts are high calorie, it's like 70 calories for 10 almonds and only 3 grams of Protein. So it's not a great way to hit your protein target - you'll end up having too many calories.

However, I eat a handful of almonds every day. It's like the best part of my life. Almonds have good Proteins which have been linked to weight loss. And it's a healthy fat. As long as I literally count them out and track them, I figure it's OK.

I'm more about staying low in carbs, and I haven't found nuts to be an obstacle to my weight loss. So I'm going to keep eating them unless that changes.

I found that I’m lactose intolerant so I’m having to find my Protein in plant based protein so cashews are a great source of protein. Thanks for the tip on literally counting them out for counting them though. I can’t eat that many of them. But I don’t eat much of anything really. I’m no where near my calorie protein carb or anything count for the day any day. I’m a work in progress.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
