Hi Everyone! I'm newer to this group and I am so thankful I found you all! I had surgery July 2013, and I've lost 135 lbs. My starting weight was 268. I've had several complications and to be quite frank this has been a journey I wouldn't do again! I had a stricture at 9 weeks post-op. They had to go in 4 times with the balloon to open it. Nausea is an everyday part of my life and I have experienced this awful pain in my left side, at rib level, for months! This pain comes and goes but when it's here the nausea is awful! I have a hard time sleeping because nothing helps the pain, which lasts 4-7 days. Then it goes away again. My surgeon did exploratory surgery, and other …

I am 5 months post RNY and since starting the journey I've lost 84 pounds and it feels great. I've slowly been backsliding on journaling and not eating as I should. Result, weight loss has stopped, but I haven't gained - but feel it is only a matter of time. At the moment my stress level is sky high - was diagnosed with breast cancer last week and am scheduled for a mastectomy on 3/31. Back in the day, food was my go-to stress reliever, comfort giver. I don't want to undo the good that I've accomplished, but I'm having trouble getting back on track. Any words of wisdom?

Hello my name is Kellie Schmidt. I had RNY bypass in 2003 and lost over 200 lbs. I however got pregnant in 2006 2010 2012 and 2013 I also lost a baby in 2009. I had very stressful complicated pregnancy with all 4 due to malnutrition. I am now dealing with severe fatigue, migraines, dizziness, sweating and freezing, difficulty sleeping and forgetfulness! I went to the ER twice last week for migraine and today went in again because I felt like I was going to black out...my legs went numb and I felt very dizzy.. anyway my hemoglobin is 7.6 that explains why I'm so tired! Just wondering if anyone else out there has experienced this and what are your suggestions? ?

In the next 6 weeks, I'll be taking two trips to unfamiliar locations. I'm going to Greece for a week with work, then going to Peru for 2.5 weeks on vacation. I am super excited about both of these trips, but so nervous about my new pouch. I'm only 2 months post-surgery and don't yet have a ton of experience on what works and what doesn't. I could just throw a couple dozen Protein bars in my bag and call it a day, but food is such an important part of experiencing a culture and I hate to miss everything. This is a hard one for me.

Hi everyone my name is Emma and this is the first thing I'm posting on here I had a lap band put in years ago and failed miserably on it granted I did think I'd wake up from surgery skinny lol I'm now going for gastric bypass and decided to remove the lap band instead of keeping it in place has anyone kept there's in? Also I'm approved for surgery and all is well on my paperwork end but my surgeon informed me she wants me to lose 40 pounds before surgery because my bmi is really high so I'm trying not to be depressed but it's really hard at times I feel like I'm never going to get there anyone else out there feeling the same.

I haven't had my surgery yet, I am still going through all the pre-op requirements, but I have been working with my nutritionist on losing weight. I was doing great, and now I am gaining weight! I am keeping my diary of what I eat on fitness pal, and it shows that I am on track, but yet, I am still gaining some. Any suggestions?? Thanks, Karma

Does anyone else have an issue with tuna salad or chicken salad? At first I thought it was my new tummy, but as of today, 7 months out, every time I eat tuna or chicken salad, it gets stuck, then on comes the foamies and then it comes back up for at least 30 minutes. Similar stories? Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

Hi. First post on any of these forums. I've been reading awhile. Just approved last week. Still don't want to do this surgery but I know I can't do his on my own. I have been considering this for a year. Gave myself that to lose what I could and then make the decision. After a year I was down 15 pounds. Not the success I had hoped for but some success. A friend and I decided to go through the process together. She had many more health issues than I. She had her surgery June 2014 and had many complications. Not the same surgeon as I'm using so I do feel a little better about that. Finally made the decision when I read something on one of these posts. " do I see my…

Hi Everyone, I have been working with a surgeon and am considering bypass. I read an article today and it said that most complications show up once you are further out and that there are a lot of regrets once you have gotten through the "honeymoon period". It also stated that no one goes without complications or regrets . Can anyone comment on this for me?

I am not even 1 week out and I dreamt about food today. I woke up and all I want to do is chew or taste something. Is this normal? It doesn't help that I live in a no -WLS home so I'm subject to smell whatever's cooking. I thought the surgery would take away the hormone that causes hunger... Is this in my head? I'm so sad.

Has anyone tried the mission carb balance tortillas?? They are very good and have 6g net carbs. I eat it in moderation if course because I can't believe they're low carb lol. It's a quick fix for my cravings of wraps quesadillas or tacos and burritos. Let me know if any of you guys have had it. They are pretty pricy 8 of them for 5.99 but worth it.

I'm 5 weeks out and today I had one of those days that I craved EVERYTHING. I haven't had one like that before. So I've ended up having an inch or so of my fiancés homemade pizza. And a tiny bit of dark chocolate. WHY?!? I've also felt really down the last few days, for no reason. I feel like a hormonal god knows what. I feel like I'm just going to fail at this!! I can't even last 5 weeks without risking a leak!

Are you serious? I'm three week post-op and I gained 0.1 pounds and I know that's nothing but I got on the scale this morning and gained another pound. I shouldn't be getting weighed everyday but I'm terrified I'm stuck already. Help. What am I doing wrong? ???? is it the fact that I moved from liquid to purée and I haven't had food in so long until now? Ugh. Helpppppp I've lost 14 so far but I'm so scared. Everyone says it should still be falling off.

I just started my journey (surgery was 11 days ago). I am so excited that I will be losing the weight and will be able to keep up with my daughters, feel better, and live longer. The vain inner me is freaking out though. I haven't been average sized since before highschool and I am not niave. I know that I am going to have extra skin. I knew going in to this that it would happen, but I'm really not looking forward to the saggy thighs and deflated breasts :-( How do people further out deal with it?

I am 3 months post-op and so very frustrated! My weight has slowed this past month and I've been at a stall for weeks. Today I get on the scale and I've gained 2 pounds! Why??? I track everything I eat, consuming around 600 calories, and between 48-66 grams of protein. I am so terrified that I won't lose anymore weight and I'll be 224 pounds for the rest of my life. My heaviest weight was 292 and I've lost a considerable amount in three months but I want to lose more. I didn't have surgery to still be considered obese. Any suggestions? I am in need of some serious encouragement. ????

I'm worried whether I'll be able to swallow my prescription medicines in the day and weeks following surgery. I take a couple of very tiny pills, a couple regular sized capsules, and three large pills every morning. Will I still be able to take these (swallow them) each morning? Any advice or tips would be appreciated.
