Hello! I was just recently unfilled but totally. I am in a position to either continue to try to work with the band(that is no longer working for me) or choose RNY or Sleeve. I started with a weight of 250lbs. Since banding I have lost 45lbs and still need to do more to no longer be diabetic. I'm thinking bypass but my weight is now 205. I'm afraid of losing too much. I wish I had done bypass in the beginning, but thought that the band would do the trick. Please give me some feedback. Good or bad..Thx

Hello, I had Gastric Bypass May 9, 2012 & I've been doing great until I started having nausea this week. I have been slowly introducing meats this week & following my diet but they all make me very ill except for turkey lunchmeat. I've had vomiting off & on all this past week. I spoke to my dietician & she has given me options to try different things but nothing even phenegran has stopped me from getting sick. When I woke up this morning I had my breakfast & couldn't keep it down. After gettin sick this AM I felt something pull in my stomach on the left & I've been in pain all day. I don't know if it's just a strain or what but its very tender. I …

I everyone. I'm extremely frustrated and need some support. I'm one month post op and I've been losing steadily for a while, but all of a sudden I stopped. I've heard of plateaus where you don't lose for a bit, but I'm actually gaining a pound here and there! I'm eating what I've been eating. Haven't been cheating or eating cake on the side or anything. But how is it even possible to GAIN weight when I've been eating a fraction of what I ate before surgery? It should be falling off! Even if I DID eat something "naughty", I still can't eat a fourth of what I did before. I've been at the same weight for two weeks. My clothes feel looser but I don't lose! I feel like my …

Hello all, I am new to this thread. I must admit I have been lurking for a few months. This surgery didn't seem that real to me till yesterday when I had my first surgery consult. I have dr. Hahn at kaiser fremont He said I am a good candidate but I must first find out what is causing my anemia. My anemia levels have been up and down for years. But he won't do surgery until he knows the cause. Have any of you had problems with this before?

I had my gastrc bypass 4 weeks ago on february 28th. My starting weight was 322. I'm 298 right now and have been stuck at this weight for a week now. Why am I not loosing weight? It's to early for me to not be loosing weight, and its scaring the crap out of me. I've been staying between 600-700 calories a day. So theres no reason ( in my mind) that I shouldn't be loosing weight consitantly? I'm so lost. And this past week i've been feeling so hungry all the time. which i never expected. I figured in the beginning I wouldn't be feeling hungry. I'm able to eat a full cup of soup which sounds way to much. Yet when I only eat a 1/2 a cup i'm not full. please any help would be…

Hi, I'm waiting on my insurance to approve my band to RNY revision. They have approved my port revision (three months ago - which I had to wait on pre-existing condition clause) until now to have. I was banded April 11, 2008 by Dr. John Bagnato, Albany GA. Assessment day I was at 271, with a pre-op diet I went into Surgery at 259 pounds. By my first fill I was down about twenty pounds - or perhaps I should say attempt at a first fill - my port had flipped. So I had to schedule revision surgery, which I had in July. I think lost an average of 15 pounds a month. I found out right after my revision surgery my husband was having an affair - emotionally I was a wreck…

Those of you who have already had your revision from Band to RNY.. what do you think is the biggest difference you have noticed so far with how you are handling life after the RNY versus the Band? (does that make sense? lol)

This has been a long road. I tried for this surgery 7 years ago but lost too much weight and they denied it.So I went back last August and after all the classes and everything and losing only 10 pounds (was afraid to lose too much this time) I was told my surgery might not get approved cause I lost too little! Ugh... Anyway they did approve it, but daily I have this fear that they will change their mind. It was horrible when they called me and told me they had to push the surgery back a week, but at least it wasn't canceled. Now I worry I will fail and not lose the weight or gain it back. How do I cope with the constant fear I can't really share with my spouse (jus…

Interesting article on WebMD says that BMI may be on the way out as the best way to assess body fat and associated health risks. The new kid on the block - height to weight ratio. "Researchers reviewed 31 studies of more than 300,000 men and women. They found that waist-to-height ratio was more accurate than BMI and than waist circumference alone at predicting certain health risks associated with being overweight or obese, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease." "Keeping your waist circumference to less than half your height can help increase life expectancy for every person in the world," says researcher Margaret Ashwell, PhD, of Ashwell Associate…

So I got to meet my new surgeon yesterday. My employment has a special clause that says "all Bariatric surgeries will be done at..." So even though I was in a WONDERFUL program, if I want to be revised, I must switch. Not very happy about that since the follow up and guidance is really poor with my hospital vs the competitors hospital (btw, they carry the blue center of distinction from bcbs). Anyway, I refuse to stop defeated so forward we go. Plus the best news ever is that after surgery I can return to my program. I'm feeling special!! Fast forward, I met her and she is nice and supportive of my revision. I was worried that she would see my continued weight loss as …

For those who have revised or will be, did any one have to repeat the psychology testing? Just wondering. I was banded in 2008 and am hoping that's not too long ago for my bc/bs insurance. The surgeon wasn't sure either. It's not like I'm worried that I will be deemed crazy this time (although there are days!) I'm just trying to plan ahead. I had to switch programs and that evaluation must have some top secret information since I'm having some difficulty in getting it transferred with the rest of my file
