Hello. I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if it works. I have lost 100 lbs but recently gained about 5 lbs back. I've not gotten all my Protein in for the day over the past few weeks. So I'm not sure if my body's just holding on to what I'm taking in or what. Does anyone have any input? I'd appreciate it! Thank you!

I had my RNY way back on Feb 14,2000 and I have gained most of the weight back! I am now seeing a Dr. Who just ran some test to see why I gained so much weight back. They found out that my stomach in now a 7 which means that it isa medium size. He said that they can do a rev. But it will be harder to loose weight then the first time I had my RNY. I told him that is ok, anything will help I hope! Has anyone started gaining? Or has anyone gained and then did a rev to loose what they gained? If not good, but I still need someone to chat with so plz let's help each other .

I'm so sorry for not communicating with you guy, I have been so sick first I cough an external suture lose due to a very bad flu/cold and my husband took me to the ER. It's been a while since I've been on here. I hope everyone is well. I am now almost 8 months out and have kept off 57lbs. I can't really complain cause I no longer have any pains and I am fitting into a 14 HOWEVER, I have learned that not everyone "dumps". I did the first few months when I slipped up. I no longer have an issue with small amounts of sugar and fat. If I eat too much bad foods I do get sick to my stomach but I don't dump. I know it comes down to self control...which I haven't had much of lately. Please don't freak out at me lol. I NEED support from people who have struggled with their weight after surgery. I know not everyone drops 100lbs right away. I ju…

My dream seems to becoming a reality. It looks like I will have my surgery before the end of November 2012. This confirms for me that its no longer a dream, but a reality, and now I have such mixed emotions. I am so excited, yet I am also scared. I know I'm ready, and I know I want and need this gift and I know I'm in this for the long haul, and ere is no turning back, but for some reason I am scared. My head just can seem to comprehend the tiny amounts of food that I will be eating! I have researched all the options extensively, so I know RNY is the right choice for me, and my surgeon agrees. Is it normal to be scared?

i am so disgusted with my insurance company right now. United health care. first of all they were the first ones i called to see if i was a candidate for the surgery, they asked me some questions like what was my BMI, how long had i been over weight. that i had to go to a seminar and join a support group. which i answered yes to all. I did all the things the surgeon had me do. had the chest xray, had my EDG endoscope done. had the pshyc evaluation everything, then the insurance gets all the paper work turned into them at the clinical services area and they deny me because they say that my TSH which is thyroid blood test done. which it was. because when they did the blo…

Think yourselves to be 100 lbs heavier? I am now 184, and have been in one-derland for a while, but when I think about my weight, the brain clicks to 284...can't seem to reset the counter, even the clothes are obviously much smaller.

Hello my RNY buddies. It is a cool, crisp November morning in beautiful GA and I have had the morning to myself. I find myself wondering what on Earth I should do. I searched the web for ways to finish my kitchen cabinets, did some on-line Christmas shopping and now I'm writing this blog. I have always been known as a bit of a workaholic. I'm just not sure what to do when I don't have a "to-do" list. I love to sew but our son is back home waiting to close on his house so I couldn't get to my sewing room. My husband is gone to his Massage School to do clinic and will be off next weekend so this is my last "alone time" for a couple of weeks. What do you do in your …

I had gastric bypass sept 25, 2011 as of july 2012 i had lost 130 lbs. yea which brought me to about 260. Things were great but then I started feeling different. i started doing stupid things eating cookies or fried foods, knowing full well i couldnt. but now i feel like i need the sugar again. AS much as i know that i am hurting myself and cannot go back and dont want to go back why do i do this stupid stuff? Why does the depression come into play because I am doing this stupid stuff? What is wrong with my brain that I keep doing this stupid stuff? I am 50 years old, never been married, have been in several bad relationships but just want love. I know I dont lo…

So, here's a concern am having. After my five week weigh in, my doctor advised me to increase my calorie intake to a minimum of 800 the days I work out and 600 otherwise. I've been trying hard to follow this closely, and I think it's working because I lost almost 5 lbs in a week. My concern is my pouch. Will it grow bigger becauase I snack on greek yogurt and low calorie chips? Am terrified For my regular meals, I still havw the same amounts with more Protein in. So? Hi everyone, I am just finishing up getting my pre-op paperwork in. Initially, I thought I wanted the band and was completely against bypass. I then heard more and more about the problems with the band and heard good things about the sleeve so for the past few months, I have been planning to do the sleeve. But lately, I have been considering gastric bypass and questioning whether this would be a better option. I know I should still be able to lose weight with the sleeve but I don't know if I will still lose as much. I also don't know about long term results. I am concerned about malabsorption while pregnant (which I want to do once I lose the weight and am cleared). I …

I'm trying to get approval for conversion. I had lapband 10/2008. Have lost only 45lbs. I definitely didn't feel successful with the lapband. I have nothing bad to say about the band. I have several orthopedic issues with knees, feet and shoulders that have really shut me down on getting in much exercise. After each of the orthopedic surgery I thought ok this is the one that is going allow me to get on track with the lapband, but that hasn't been the case. I enjoy swimming but now that winters is coming all the outdoor pools are shut down. Probably going to join YMCA and get into their deep water fitness classes. I really enjoyed them. Me Trying to work the weight machine…

Today the people in the United States will elect a President for the next 4 years. Each "side" has their reasons for selecting the candidate of their choosing. There are issues and policies at stake that will affect the entire country no matter which side you plan to vote for. On a much smaller scale this is election day for your body today. What will you elect to do for the next 4 years? Will you focus on the policies (eating guidelines, exercise, drinking Water, etc.). Maybe you'll focus on the foreign policies such as what size you wear, the number on the scale, etc. Healthcare is a huge topic....what about yours...will you remain faithful to your plan so that …

Good evening peeps and Happy Halloween to all of you! I hope you do not get candy this year but maybe some chicken and cheese. ha ha Today was not a great day for me. I was just sad. My old director was let go from the company I work for yesterday and it just made me sad. That coupled with the fact that our office had a costume contest and luncheon but no one copied me on the email. I was having a SERIOUS pity party all by myself this morning. I had not brought anything and did not don a costume. I'm not sure why the pity party because not going to the luncheon actually helped me stay on my plan. I didn't see the goodies so I had no horrible moments. I just…

Hi. First post. By the way of introduction - I made my decision to have WLS in August - I have a 6 mo MANDATORY purgatory (irish catholic speak) before I can even see my surgeon - but as a research element I went to a surgery seminar for WL last week and discovered I am best suited for RNY (after saying absolutely NOT) I am warming up to it -- So - essentially I am going to see my surgeon for the first time later in January - Do I go batshitcrazy and work out like a maniac (to whatever degree that means at 200lbs over weight) pre-surgery - or do I just take one day at a time. Just wondering what y’all think. tia.

OK...how do you all deal with that one or two people who question your decision to have RNY? I know how I want to respond, but there must be a more tactful way of handling it. So far I have been overwhelmed by the support of friends and family. The new me is gonna be awesome. Jeff

Just got the call from Weight Loss Center. Insurance has approved my revision from band to RNY. Don't have a date yet. That call may come on Monday. But just knowing it is approved and it will happen is enough for today. I am feeling every emotion there is. Mostly good. I am ready for this. Thanks to all those who have been pulling for me. Your support is more than you will ever know. Hugs

Hi! I have had LapBand since 2007. I lost approx 35 pounds and kept it off. I am having some complications and my surgeon recommends a revision. Has anyone out there revised from Band to RNY? What kind of results did you see? I am leaning towards the Sleeve but I am Diabetic and would like to have that added benefit of not being Diabetic right away. Any feedback is welcome! Thanks

So today started with me sleeping in and missing the bus. so I grabbed an Optifast bar and got on the next bus which almost drove past me cos a rubbish truck was in the bus stop. I then got on the bus and found my pre-paid bus card had no money on it. there goes all my change. So I chew on my optifast bar, check my bank account to find I havent been paid. RAGE so distracted I press the buzzer early and have to get off the bus in a haze of rage and being amd at myself for pressing the buzzer to find that my 1 real meal for the day - grilled snapper, spinach salad with Jalapenos, spring onions, tomato and lemon, has been left on the bus in my pretty strawberry s…

So I had to go see my endocronologist today. i needed my letter of support for the clinic that is doing the surgery. My endo is the one who helped me get my diabetes under control. and he is also the one who refered me to this clinic, so he starts by telling me he is afraid for me and am i sure this is the only way to go? that maybe we can do drugs or something? I was like no, I have been through so much already. I do not want to take diet pills. he said you must underrstand this is a no joke surgery, it is very serious, and told me after the surgery i could develope hypoglycemia, and my sugars could run low especially if i take in carbs, I had to reassure him that I am r…

Stepped on the scale today and YIPPEE finally hit the first goal of 50 pounds off. It's been slow but, understandable with all the dang antibiotics and issues but, finally off the antibiotics and feeling good. Naturally I would love more off than this but, at the same time I'm extremely happy. We all look at each others weightloss and journey but, in the end we're on our own journey. This I know and keep reminding myself. This helps keep my sanity on the weightloss and better health journey. One day at a time, one meal at a time, one forkful at a time and I'll get there. Thank you all for your support and friendship here at RNYTalk. I'm truly enjoying it all and saying m…
