My doc has us eating 5-6 times per day and only 1 oz. I am only in week 4 post-op and supposed to focus on eating foods that don't crunch and don't need to be cut with a knife and fork. Today my menu is planned as follows: 1 oz Chobani 0% yogurt with Just Great Stuff (like PB2) chocolate Peanut Butter and a few slices of banana mixed in 6 Johnsonville Deli Bites 3/4 oz super thinly sliced buffalo chicken deli meat 1/8 of a spicy black bean patty (about 1/2 oz) and a 1/2 oz of Wholly Guacamole 1 oz shredded imitation crab meat 1 IKEA Swedish Meatball and 6 mini fresh mozzarella pearlines. I am also still using some Protein supplements to get to 60g: 20 oz: 1/2…

I am ready to pull my hair out! I dropped 30 lbs in my first month and I know that is amazing. But for 2 weeks I have bounced between 208 and 204. I'm at 206 and I am frustrated. I can't get another drop of water in me, I'm meeting or exceeding my protein goals (my dr says 20-30 grams per day for 1st month) but I am beyond constipated, M of M isn't working, neither is miralax, or hot coffee/tea. Excercizing 30 - 40 minutes per day and nothing seems to be working. How in the world do you gain 2 lbs when you aren't eating more than 500 - 600 calories per day and you're working all of those off? I know, I know, I must have patients and the weight will come off but in this mo…

Went to the doc yesterday with chest pains and they ran blood tests. The liver enzymes are over 1000. They are talking liver failure. Anyone know anything about this? Some are saying bariatric patients sometimes have crazy high liver enzymes.

For the past few days I have been so exhausted and have even skipped my exercise a few days. For the past few months I feel like I have been a ball of fire.....full of energy and go nonstop from the time I get up until I go to bed.....mom, wife, full time job, obsessive neat freak so constantly cleaning and trying to get 5 hrs exercise in a week. Husband says ive probably worn myself out and I should give myself a few days to rest and recover but I feel so guilty when I don't exercise even when I am dead tired. Is he right? Am I being too crazy about it?

Hi Everyone , I had gastric bypass about 3 months ago as a revision to the gastric sleeve due to horrible GERD, and before that I had the lap band in and had to have it removed due to some of the same symptoms that I am having now and since I left the hospital I have had nothing be chronic nausea and some vomiting, I do get dry heeves almost very day and these " episodes" can last for about 10 minutes at a time, I also have left side abdominal pain that sometimes feels like gallbladder attacks, my surgeon has been trying every thing to figure out what this could be, my EGD came back normal, no structure or leak, currently taking zofran raglan acephex Zantac and care fat…

When he left I ate 2 pizzas and way to much ice cream. When he told me his 23 year old girlfriend (he's 37) was pregnant it was Chinese food and cake. He's getting married tomorrow and it's 2 oz of medifast. I am 9 days post-op and having to learn how to deal with these emotions without food just sucks. I have to say, this is really hard. It even crossed my mind to cheat and eat something but the fear of breaking my new pouch has kept me from it. My doctor doesn't allow his patients to move to soft foods until 2 weeks after surgery so I can't even do some cottage cheese or anything. I also don't have my beautiful daughters to occupy my mind. They're at the wedding. So ins…

I know our bodies are going through a rampant change in hormones (especially us ladies) but is anyone else experiencing major changes in their complexion/skin? I take Biotin, which I thought is supposed to help with skin (my nails sure have benefitted!) but I feel like I'm breaking out more than usual.

Hey every one! I had my gastric bypass Aug 2011..I was 265 and I am now 161...my smallest weight post op was 145. Best decision I made in my life. But I want to warn the newbies that its not easy! At first it is because your not hungry or you dont eat much but as time passes you start to taste this and that and before you know it you are binging on everything you shouldn't have and dumping syndrome has become something you are willing to have just for one piece of that delicious cake! Needless to say I am terrified of gaining my weight back but I have no self control so I need support and also motivation to exercise. I don't have much excess skin but I need to tone a…

When I attended a support group the surgeon described lap band as just sticking your toe in the water where as gastric bypass has less of a chance of regaining weight - I am leaning towards gastric bypass my BMI is 39.5 weight 235 like to lose 100 pounds -- looking forward to meeting with the surgeon on 10/5/12 for my consultation. Any thoughts?

Hi bandtobypass's, I will be having my band to bypass revision on Feb 6th, excited and nervous is the feeling... Hopefully this will conclude my weight-loss journey No more stuck feeling, saliva producing hours of fun... Since 2008 at 250 pounds and one revision of the band due to leak 50 Pound loss has become only 15 pounds. Sad but true I am lapband challenged. Found out that women have the tougher time Than men. Go figure... Here's hoping my scar tissue isn't to bad, my gallbladder looks good, i have no leaks and if any tubes or catheters have to Be placed they are removed before I get discharged......

I start my two week liquid diet on New Year's Day. My liquid diet consists of 6 glucerna shakes a day and an endless amount of crystal light and teas and Water. I've had the opportunity to watch my sister do the two week liquid diet over the summer and watched her suffer day in and day out. She did end up losing 15lbs before surgery, but did have 2 minor cheat episodes. She tells me it's hard because you constantly crave something to chew. My goal is to make it through the two weeks with NO slip-ups. I notice on the forum a lot of people end up cheating to some extent. Is there any of you who were successful and DIDN'T slip up during the liquid diet phase? What was yo…

I've come to grips about everything i must due to have by pass ,I've only got five days left until surgery, I'm doing ok. But here is the thing, I'm scared beyond scared about the catheter. To me I'm ready you cancel, I talked to the nurse and asked if I could wear a diper, of coarse she said no. She said they would put it in while I'm asleep but I'd wake up with it in, and have it in until I can pee on my own. I've never had one before. Can someone tell me how it feels, what to expect. I'm hoping I can max out on morphine when they take it out.

Well, I'm here at the sleep study, its actually pretty nice. An actual full (maybe queen) size bed in a room, kinda looks like a hotel room little smaller, and bathroom is in hall (its in a doctor office) I'm nervous because I haven't slept without my hubby and when I do sleep away from him I don't actually sleep! The doc gave me a 3mg of lunesta to try to help hopeing it will work. Haven't gotten set up yet, soon though. Already little sleepy (but assumeing that's from my monthly visitor and how early I was up today 6ish and not to bed till after midnight) so hopeing this goes well, I know they are putting a cpap machine on me and if I need it will turn it on. This is go…

Hey everyone, so I had a reconsult with my new surgeon and we talked for like 2 hours unlike the lastone who said to come back when I'm done with my 6month weighin. I'm so happy to have a surgeon who is VERY SUPER INFORMITIVE. He basically redid the seminar but only got in depth with these two surgeries (which I didn't even know my insurance covered the DS) anyways I was soooo set on having RNY and believed that this was the surgery for me. Well anyways I've done a lot of research along with everything he has told me, and I believe now that the DS is the surgery for me. Although I know noone who has had this surgery only people who have had RNY. I'm nervous and excited an…

Yesterday I heard that I've been submitted and am awaiting approval. Today I'm very extra emotional. I think it's because I just feel like something is going to go wrong again. I've had so many issues with trying to get this surgery done.....as much as I WANT it, I guess I just don't see it happening anymore. I feel like instead of waiting for approval, I'm just waiting to be let down again :-/

For the last week I have been sick with a severe sinus infection and bronchitis. My primary doc put me on an antibiotic and gave me sudafed. During the first 3 days I felt like no relief from the sudafed or Afrin or DayQuil and I take Zyrtec daily for allergies. Since this is my first cold since having surgery. My question is does surgery affect the break down and absorption of the medications?

My personal physician has been monitoring my weight now for years, and has been instructing me toward better eating habits/diets. Now for my question, is this the same as a doctor supervised weight loss? I know that most insurance companies require 6 months of this, and I am curious if my long hard years of trial and error are enough proof.
