Does anyone regret having bypass? If so why?

I have my first appointment on Friday. I have been getting excited and nervous it just depends the day. I would like some advice on what to expect for the first appoinment. Also if there are any questions I should ask that you never thought of before hand. I'm 21 and have been looking into rny since I was 16.

Is it too early to start an April thread? I didn't see one yet. I'm scheduled for April 22. I still have to finish PCP clearance and psych then insurance approval but don't anticipate any problems. Once I started my appointments the excitement and anxiety kicked in. I started 6 month supervised diet in August....this used to seem so far away and like a vague idea but its so real now. My anxiety is double as my husband's date is march 18 and I worry a lot more about him than myself. How are all the other April folks doing?

What to do??? I am so sick! It started with what i thought was regular flu and now i am running for the toilet every now and then and painful! Have any of you had the stomach bug after surgery? What meds could you take? I don't want to go to the pharmacy as most people in South Africa are extremely uneducated about weight loss surgery and they will probably give something that is bad for my pouch and not even realise it. That is why i much rather ask your advice. If you have names available, can you perhaps also state the main ingredient? Cause i have found that all your meds have different names here in South Africa oi and it frustrates me when I read about som…

Hi. I am 4 weeks post-op and have thrown up once on Wed and 5 times between last night and today. Anyone else have or had this poroblem. If so, how do you remedy it and what do you eat to get out of it and not continue to vomit. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I have been banded since 2005. I lost 60 lb in the first two years and then went thru a period of esophageal dilation, fertility treatments, two miscarriages and two babies born......needless to say, I am right back where I started pre-band. My husband thinks the only reason I have not been successful with the band is because I "cheat" with it, as in I drink with food in order to get it down, I still drink carbonated bev. on occasion, I don't eat my protein first, and I eat junk (cause as we all know it is the processed crap that slides down easily!) I have a friend who is going to get the Gastric Sleeve. She was approved by her insurance, she completed her stress test, blood test, Psych test and her class. Her surgery date was scheduled for May. Her doctor refused to do the surgery because she did not lose the 10 lbs. Has anyone encountered this problem? my doctor didn't even mention the 10lbs. I thought we were having weight loss surgery because we tried everything else HELLO....... I was never so much a sugar addict as I am now - 8 years post band. I eat a lot of sugar and have a horrible addiction to Coke - the real stuff - which is horrible on two levels: empty calories and carbonation. In researching RNY I am hopeful that the possibility of dumping will keep me on the straight and narrow. Anyone else out there who was a sugarholic pre RNY? How did you kick the sugar habit once and for all? Do you miss it?

My journey has been great no complications during surgery I had gastric bypass may 7 and I was sore but nothing that I couldn't overcome, now that I'm 95 lbs down I'm noticing some loose skin on my arms, thighs , stomach but nothing big that can be removed once I'm done loosing all the excess weight , I'm just 4 months down and have a long journey to go .. I am so excited about my upcoming surgery. I get my ivc filter tomorrow. So excited. I started my pre op liquids and just before that my husband gives me my last piece of fried chicken. As I'm swallowing it I start to realize that my life is really changing and I start to cry. I am ready for this I guess I got nervous. Well that's over back to being excited about my life change.

Tuesday will make 6 weeks for me and I'm starting to really feel great! Hubby had foot surgery and is non weight bearing for a few weeks and I'm picking up the pace more and more..this upcoming week is about as jam packed as I could ever think of making it and...I'm so tired all the time! So, I've been trying to decide what to do to "reward" myself. I told my husband I would like to get a charm bracelet. Well he went out and bought me one for my birthday. Now every 25lbs I loose, I get a charm! I love it and I love rewarding myself with something other than food! How do you reward your success?

Hi I am wondering how long did it take everyone to recover before they could go swimming. My surgery will be mid july and at the end of August I will be going to the Bahamas. Im hoping I won't have to for go either of these awesome opportunities. Help!!!

My surgery date is June 10, 2013 and my surgeon wants me to have an IVC Filter lodged in me on June 6th, it's to prevent a person that has a history of blood clots (Pulmonary Embolism), this tools is suppose to catch blood clots that break lose, it prevents clots from reaching your lungs or heart. Has anyone else had this procedure, if so, does it hurt and was it difficult to remove after surgery? Thanks, all comments are welcomed!!

With the combo of losing weight before and after surgery my boobs have vanished. I've went from a va-voom 44DD and post op almost 3 months I'm now a 35C. Id even say it could be a possible B cup cause my boobs are swimmig on my C cup bra. I'm only 3 months out... I'm scared to see where I'll be at post op 1 year.

I'm sitting in the hospital with my gown on and I want to run out of here!! I know this is the best choice but I'm so nervous!!!!!!!!!!

Okay it is official, band came out on the 23th and just received a call from the nurse. She received the letter of clearance from the cardiologist, I requested one Friday from the pulmonologist and it is on the way. Only need three weight management visits so the 17th will be last one. Psychologist cleared me amonth ago, again. Visit with the dietetian Thursday, at my request. And think I have to go to a group meeting or a seminar (which I have already done). My insurance only requires three months of supervised weight management. So it looks RNY is around the corner. My mother in law told my husband that once I lost the weight I was going to leave him. When he told me that I almost flipped- how dare she? This goes to show what she thinks of me, and of our relationship. My husband is my best friend, and has always been supportive of whatever makes me happy. Our love has never been based around the fact that we were fat together. I have zero desire to leave my husband, he understands I will change going through this, but I have always been very independent and done my thing, just at the end of the day we are besties. Just wondering if anyone else has gone thru this hunger--change. I have been battling the hunger for several weeks now. I have done pretty good till about a month ago. I know our pouch heals and that change is normal and even expected. But I feel like a hungry hippo-- and yes i get plenty of protein per day. I usually drink two protein drinks a day and eat 3 times a day. I have been grazing...which i am trying to get control of, and fighting with my head--telling it i am NOT REALLY HUNGRY... I know my weight loss has slowed down to just a few pounds a month, but i think that is normal too the closer we get to goal. Will the hunger---hungry hippo feeling pass???? o…

Hello, I was 23 when I had my surgery. It's been a year now, and lost 170lbs!!!!

curious if i should expect another set of scars when the rny is done, does the surgeon use the same incision sites as what was used for the band surgery?

To those who have been on this journey 12 months or longer. How is your appetite at this point. Does your pouch stretch? Do your appetite go back to how it was before surgery? Or is it just about the same as going through the first six months? Just wondering what to look forward too?
