April Dates

Is it too early to start an April thread? I didn't see one yet.

I'm scheduled for April 22. I still have to finish PCP clearance and psych then insurance approval but don't anticipate any problems. Once I started my appointments the excitement and anxiety kicked in. I started 6 month supervised diet in August....this used to seem so far away and like a vague idea but its so real now. My anxiety is double as my husband's date is march 18 and I worry a lot more about him than myself. How are all the other April folks doing?

Congrats! One more step towards changing your life!

Thanks so much. The doc was very nice but it felt terrible to go over all my past failures at weight loss. Had to be honest though.

New here!!! My surgery date is April 5th..

Soon!!

Went to my mandatory support group tonight and it was very interesting. Heard some great success stories, as well as some stories of people who are 3 years out and are still struggling. Goes to show that this will be a LIFE LONG journey, not one that is "fixed" by having RNY. Was a very positive evening and am now more excited than ever!

Yes...definitely a tool, not a cure. I look at it as if the RNY gives us a chance to get down to "normal" and then it is up to us to do the work to keep it that way. Just the way I look at it...I'm still pre op and no expert.

It is definitely a tool, and a lifestyle change too. I have many friends and family that have had different weight loss surgeries and there are a few that have gained some or most of their weight back. My mom had her DS over 17 years ago and has managed to maintain but she knows her limits. Other family members have actually talked about having another surgery because they have gained back their weight but all of them went back to their old habits once they were able to eat normally again. This is our chance to make a change - a permanent change. I want to set a good, healthy example for my kids and I don't want to take all these medications everyday. I know it will be hard but nothing worth fighting for ever is.

Stay positive but be real with yourself. :)

I have been trying different Protein shakes--my favorite so far is Syntrax Matrix strawberry Cream. I also really like Click vanilla Latte coffee/protein drink for Breakfast. Syntrax nectar is a good non-creamy protein drink-- I like green apple and cherry.

I'm stocked up on broths-- chicken' date=' veggie, beef, miso. Different creamed soups--cream of mushroom, celery, and chicken are good, but would need to be strained for liquid phase.

sugar free Jello and Popsicles.[/quote']

I've stocked up on the Protein shakes, but haven't tried any yet. Since I read so many posts about everything tasting different after surgery I figured I would just try them after. I did however get a large container of unflavored protein. Other than that I will have a ton of different ones to try! :) Vitalady.com you can order samples.

Heading to weigh in number 5! Hoping to get my surgery date today. Also hoping I make it there. The roads are bad due to snow storm and it is hour and half away! Excited!!!!!!
