    Getting back on track!

WOW!! My deepest sympathy for your losses. That is enough to send anyone off the track. I had my gastric bypass in April of 2013 and had been very active on this site from about 4 months pre-op and for quite awhile post op. I have since then had two FAILED back surgeries. I am unable to be very active. I am down from 350 to between 195-205 depending on the day. I really want to be at 170 so I thought Id come back on here and see how others were doing. I was at the lowest of 191 a few months ago. Gonna keep following this thread so we can encourage each other! I did order a bunch of Protein powder to try to start over with what worked in the past. This is definitely a LIFELONG struggle!
  3. Wow I couldn't imagine being that small!! How r u recovering from your surgery???
  4. Boy we are a pair huh?? Sorry to hear you are still having pain too. Im taking classes for healthcare management but just started. May change my route depending on how my back progresses. The last fusion didn't work, he said it basically crumbled. Not sure what the future holds but I enjoy do schoolwork. It gives my brain something to do! Hope you are happy and that your pain lessens and gets controlled!
  5. Still have the leg pain but see the surgeon on Thursday and he is going to figure out which tests need to be done. Everything I read is that the solution to releasing this new trapped nerve is surgery. Don't know why I am blessed with all of this. Thanks for your kind words and support!! Glad to see that you are doing awesome!! Oh and my weight is holding steady at 199!!
  6. Hi all! Been a long time since I've updated. I check often but just don't write. I ended up having second back surgery about one month ago. He did some more fusing and cleaned out the vertebrae space. I am STILL having a ton of leg pain which is very frustrating. I am told to be patient but at this point I'm just getting pissed. I see the surgeon later this month the for more testing. Blah, blah, blah. On the weight front, I am holding steady between 200 and 205. Haven't seen that 199 in along time and that is frustrating as well! I know I need to buckle down and eat better. I am also to the point were I can be walking outside more now. I do have a brace I have to wear. I am just so afraid of tripping and falling. I sou d like I'm 80 instead of 43! On a personal note, I start some online schooling TOMORROW! I am very excited, I've done it before and love to learn. I need to get in a new career so if and when the Dr says I can work, I have somewhere to start. Hope you all are well. I'm sad that we don't stay in touch like we did, but living life gets in the way! Hugs and kisses to my April friends.
  7. Yikes Krystal! Doesn't sound fun at all. Hope you are healing up and that the mass was nothing serious!
  8. In my research prior to having RNY, I remember reading that rapid weight loss can cause a decrease in estrogen in some women. This causes the vaginal dryness. I don't remember where I read this but I was the "Google queen" prior to surgery so maybe start there. I would just mention it to your Dr. I'm sure they will know what to recommend for you. Good luck!

What is the #1 food you'll miss?

I had RNY in April 2013 so im a little over a year out. pizza is my number one, all time favorite food! Everyones perception of rny is that you will never be able to eat certain foods again. That is not true! I was worried about never having pizza again too. I eat pizza now but differently than before. I have ultra thin crust vs thick. And 1 slice vs 6! LOL Some people avoid crust altogether, but I feel that we eat such a little amount, might as well enjoy it. Some things I refuse to give up! I've lost around 150lbs so I must be doing something right!
  10. Hey all, have my second spine surgery a week ago. Am doing well, i think that knowing how to move around has made this one a little easier, even though it was a more involved surgery. I am hoping that this is the END of all of this. I am still having some good leg pain on the opposite side now. He said my spine is so moved and crunched it is hard to get in there. The surgery was EIGHT HOURS!! Am really following rules this time! Weight is holding steady at between 200 and 203. Havent seen that 199 since that day long ago! Hope everyone is doing well.
  11. Hey, a blast from the past! Where did you move? How is everything going with you?
  12. I eat hummus alot. I'm a little over a year out.
  13. Get some Greek yogurt. A great protein source and easy to eat in beginning stages. Dannon has a Greek yogurt that is low sugar and great.

    Anyone from Wisconsin?

I chose Dr. Regan after researching bariatric drs. He was one of the few that my insurance covered and I saw excellent reviews on him. I was thoroughly happy with everything about my experience from his office staff to the nursing staff at the hospital. I would recommend him to everyone!!

    Anyone from Wisconsin?

I know Mayville! Hubby works there at Seneca. I'm from Beaver Dam.
  16. Had my appt. With the spine surgeon. Surgery is scheduled for June 3rd. Was to be an easier procedure than the last fusion, but I received a call from him a few days ago and he did not like the ct results. Will most likely be doing a fusion again due to the first one not taking. Am down in the dumps about all this. I am tired of spending my days in pain and isolated from people because of not working. Hoping this will all be resolved soon so I can get back to life. Hope everyone is doing well!!

    Anyone from Wisconsin?

Hi Kathy! I am from Beaver Dam WI. I had Dr.Regan and LOVED him AND his team. Was a great experience and would recommend them to anyone!!
  18. Glad we are not alone!! Think it will take time for all of us to feel as small as we are after years of being so big!!
  19. You are looking awesome!! I think we will all always have that "feeling fat" feeling with us. My daughter tells me how skinny my legs are now and I just don't see it! My mom said the other day that my butt is smaller than hers. I don't see that either. I still feel huge! I've heard it takes time for our brains to catch up and I totally agree! Don't feel delated, this is a LIFELONG process. Just keep at it and keep trying! Best wishes to you.
  20. Would love to be an 8-10. Am at 14-16 down from 26-28 now, so I'm happy here too!

    Tired

There is something called the hibernation syndrome which is common at about 3-4 weeks post op and may last up to 8 weeks. It is your bodys reaction to less food. The body feels it is starving due to the lower amount of food and that it must store everything to survive. This can cause lethargy and even some depression. It is a common side effect and will pass. Exercising helps! Good luck! I used to have a good link for this but if you Google it, you will find more info.
  22. Had my one year follow up today. All of the blood work was perfect and I have lost 79% of my excess weight!! Even though I am at between 199-203, my surgeon is very happy because everything else looks go good. He said that this is where by body feels happy and I'm ok with that for now. After my next back surgery, I hope to lose another 20-30 lbs, but until then I am excepting where I'm at. Next I see the spine surgeon on the 15th after a ct scan. Hopefully will get the date for next surgery so I can get moving towards putting this all behind me and being healthy!! Oh and I am starting some online schooling in July. When all of this healing is done, I will need a new job, so why not start over!! Hope everyone is well!
  23. Glad you decided to keep the little one. Have faith. It will work out!
  24. Happy Sunday. Hope everyone is doing awesomely!!! I have my year follow up on Tuesday. Was supposed to be last week but we have had to cancel. This week, we have all been sick so I hope I make it on Tuesday! Nothing g new to report, just hanging in there weight wise. Up a few pounds, down a few pounds. Trying to hit that 199 again before Tuesday!
  25. I'm here!! Alaina and I were just talking how quiet it has been!! Too funny! I have my year follow up appointment tomorrow. I have had the munchies all day and what a bad day to eat! I already have all my blood work results and it was all on point so it should be an uneventful appointment. I just have a few questions about blood sugar. I have dumped on cereal only and it is a late dumping. My blood sugar drops in the 30's and 40's and is a little scary. Gonna try to clarify some questions on that. Hope everyone is good!
