Hi everyone, I had my gastric bypass on 4-4-13, so I'm about 2.5 weeks out. I have a horrible pain towards the front of my left side and right behind my bellybutton. Whenever I cough or sneeze I get a horrible burning/tearing sensation. The doctors keep saying everyone complains about pain on the left incision so I have been hesitant to bring it up further, but the more I pay attention, the pain is not from an incision at all... I'm thinking its a hernia? Anybody had similar problems?

This week has been a roller coaster week for horrible emotions. Early on I want to just stay away from people for fear I was going to rip someone's head off. Now I feel as though I am annoying everyone around me to the point that they are starting to literally hate being around me. Please tell me if anyone can sympathize, or am I going crazy?

Hi my name is Jennifer from Cali. I have gotten all the stuff done except a few lbs. I have already lost over 100 lbs but still over 150 lbs overweight. I have had two surgeries and had a lot of pain due to low pain tolerance. I have been going through times I'm super excited and next moment I'm scared and overwhelmed. I don't know many who have done this and only tell the supportive family members. My husband is really supportive thankfully. I would love to hear experience.

Hello I'm Jennifer. I'm 30. I started my weight loss journey 2 years after the birth of my son. I started at 450 lbs and now 340 lbs. I'm preop. I have 10 lbs more until I have my final item crossed off my list. Then, ill get my surgery date. I'm looking end of June beginning of July. They basically schedule one month out due to the the surgeon shortage at the military hospital. I'm a marine wife and live in San Diego. I'm excited to get my surgery and start the rest of my life. But on the other hand I'm scared out of mind. I still want another child but I'm scared ill be to old by the time I get all the weight off and then scared ill gain weight.

Hi everyone, I'm Jaylin (32 yoa) from Texas and I'm new to the forum. I had surgery on 12/22/12 with my original weight being 445 and nearly three months (tomorrow) in I am down 66 pnds. I just recently broke the 380 mark I'd been stuck at (fluxing from 381 - 384) for two weeks. I was sick the week before spring break and out of town the week of which set my gym time back quite a bit. I joined LA fitness once my major recovery was done and I typically work out (swimming and water aerobics) 4-5 days a week with a lot of walking on the weekends. It's a great excuse to head to the mall! Since surgery I'm no longer a type two diabetic and have had normal (though often low at …

Hi everyone! I pre op and working to lose 80 pounds before surgery. I've been doing very well on the pre op diet the NUT gave me, but last night I had a family emergency and broke down for a bacon cheese burger, fries, and a soda. One of the reasons I have chose RNY over the sleeve is because I do want the dumping syndrome. I am curious as to what would happen if I gave into that temptation post op?

I was so devastated to learn when I woke up from surgery that they only removed my band and could not do the revision. my doctor said she's very conservative and even a little bad scan tissue would make her stop. I'm so sad... I have to wait a few more months now...

I am 3 weeks out today and down 23 lbs. But not only am I dealing with daily diarrhea but intense left side pain. I am starting to question if I didn't do enough research or didn't ask enough questions. I have gone back to work full time and I am a teacher and by the end of the day I am hurting and miserable. Has anyone else been slow to heal? I am just really feeling down and want my old happy self to come back.

I am about to start my 6th week in a couple of days and I am still having problems getting enough calories in each day. I DO get all my Protein in and I am still working on getting 64oz of Water in each day. I often get around 640 calories to 800 a day. Does this sound right to anyone? I am not sure how many calories I should take in each day. Should I get at least 900 calories a day or am I worrying for nothing? I also need to know how long it takes you to eat your Breakfast, lunch and dinner each day? If I eat my breakfast so should I say drink my breakfast in 20 to 25 minutes I wind up dumping, I am not sure what I am doing wrong and I need help. I need some…

My surgery is this Thursday and I have been fine up till now... Holy moly am I a bundle of nerves all of a sudden! I keep worrying that something isn't going to go well and my surgery will get canceled or I won't end up with the bypass. My latest fear is having too much scar tissue under my band and having to wait till it heals to get the bypass. I will be absolutely devastated if I wake up from surgery simply band less. I understand this would be for my health, but it would kind of feel like I had the procedure for nothing. I'm so scared. Please pray all goes well these next few days and in surgery. I'm so nervous that I can't focus on anything else. I just want to ge…

Hey, my name is Kim and I am so new to all of this, I am in the mid stages of being approved! Have had all testing done, I've meet with my nutritionist, and the psych evals! Anyway, back to my question, I am ok with the post diet and the protein, and the foods. But what concerns me the most is the liquids...I drink probably 200 oz of fluid a day...water, crystal light, etc.....before lunch I've usually downed at least 60-70 oz. the nutritionist and my health coach have been telling me to start sipping and not drinking with meals to prepare! I was wondering if anyone else drinks a lot of fluids and how they coped!!! I feel like I'm drying up if I don't have a drink near by…

I wake up between 430am and 5am, rested ready to get up and start the day ( I go to bed about 9:30pm) EVERYDAY! I work full time, but have recently taken on a second job, I get my gym time in, walk my neighborhood as well everyday.... and now it's getting a little springish I am starting to do outside (yard) work too. But I find myself unable to just sit down!!! I am always popping up from my seat and thinking of little things to do! I think its starting to drive my husband nuts... last night he said "Can you just SIT DOWN a …

I don't want to be the constant bringer up of the shit we've been put through being fat. We know don't need reminders, but it seems as I've got small I have to continue to put up with being bullied just to keep the peace. My boyfriend whom I love honestly more than any other man I've ever loved in my life has absolutely no idea the hell I've been through. He was the popular boy, well to do brought up happy all american everything came to him when needed. Me, the girl fat made fun of never allowed in groups constantly talked about and put down and just to have socialization I learned to accept the fat girl jokes as my way of fitting in. Today, he and I had a beautiful …

I have recently discovered an issue I started having with my teeth. I am currently still pre-op, but I've had to lose, at the request of my surgeon, 25lbs before surgery. I've noticed that as I've been losing this pre-op weight it seems like my teeth are getting too big for my mouth, I know that sounds kind of weird but the reason I say that is because I have a couple of canker sores in my mouth that won't go away because my teeth keep cutting into my cheeks and this only started as I began losing so much weight. So I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced the same type of thing after they started losing weight after surgery? And what did you do about it? …

I was wondering if anyone developed gluten intolerance or irritable bowel syndrome after gastric bypass. I'm 1 1/2 yrs post op and notice when I eat certain things my tummy feels gassy, bloated, and just blah. These are not new foods either. I also feel super tired and sleepy and have put on about 4-5lbs. If anyone has experienced this, please let me know your suggestions. Thank you!

I've seen topics where members having surgery in the same month have kinda banded together to offer support and encouragement to one another. I think this is a wonderful idea, and I'd like to see if there's anyone having surgery in March that would like to support one another. I have a tentative date for the second or third week in March. I have UHC through Georgia Pacific and they use BRS for approvals. I don't expect any delays, nor does my surgeon's office, so she saved me a spot, so to speak, lol. Tonight I have my psyc eval, and Monday is my information class, I have two more visits, 2/5 and 3/5 of my six month supervised diet, and on March 5th when I leave my PC…

Looking for anyone who has had their gallbladder removed at the same time as the RNY surgery. Can you tell me what the recovery time was like? Also, from what I am reading, side effects of gallbladder removal can be diarrhea...but side effects of RNY can be constipation....which do you experience? Is there anything that stands out as being different from others RNY experiences since you had the gallbladder out at the same time? Thank you!

So I had my surgery on Monday 3/25. Well I spent one night in ICU. Had NGT, art line, all the bells and whistles. I then the next day got very short of breath and was overloaded with Fluid. We corrected that, but then my potassium bottomed out. Then diagnosed with pneumonia, which I am battling even now. My two night stay ended in 5 nights. Needless to say, I am home. Not sleeping well and suffering from ridiculous gas. I think it is normal, but did anyone have very loose stools with the gas? I hope it is and that is goes away very soon. Hard to sleep with your stomach speaking louder than the cpap. On another note, left the hospital with no metformin, simvastatin,…

I had gastric bypass with a pouch size of 30 ml... do not know size of stoma. I had it done a few days ago and today is day 5 post-operation. I am on liquid phase of post-op diet... But I do not feel full after havinga large amount of liquid for a meal... I feel like I could eat on, just as I could pre-op... Could this be related to the size of stoma or pouch? Could it be that my stoma is still healing and that scar tissue will form later on around the stoma, narrowing it, and giving me a better wense of fullness?? Appreciate opinions. Thanks.

My dog is three and he's a dachshund named Copper. The amazing thing about this lil man is his ability to tell me I'm about to seize. He will literally go bizerk and alert the neighbors two miles uproar lol from barking I'm jk but he does sense them before I even do. He's amazing always there to lay beside me and knows when I've had surgery he typically lays on me but when I'm hurting he snuggles beside of me. Do yall have a pet?
