  1. Hi guys!! I will soon be post-op and looking forward to all the delicious and healthy food I will be eating in the future. I am looking for a WLS Cook Book with great recipes. There's a lot out there! Any recommendations on which is the best?

I've called my surgeon's office twice now in the last week to see if they've submitted me for approval yet, and no one has called me back. Getting very frustrated. They're usually really good at keeping in contact.

Now I know some people have experienced this before. I have been lucky thus far with the amount of support i have gotten. Yeah I had a few friends try to ask me if there were any other ways. Other then that my friends and my family, most of it, are extremely happy for me.... and scared! Well from the get go my sister was not a fan. She didn't want me to do it and wouldn't talk to me for about two weeks after deciding to do it. Well I'm now 1 week post op and she still won't speak to me. I texted her to ask her to call me, to talk about Christmas, no answer. She then calls my mom and I yell to my mom to tell her i need to talk to her. Her response was ' I don't want to tal…

Well surgery was on Monday. Started throwing up blood on Tuesday. Had another surgery on Thursday to get the correction. The surgeon said that my intestinal were narrow and he was having a hard time trying to make it fit as well as functional. So still in hospital...NPO...not sure what today will bring but I do feel a lot better...

I am 4 months post-op and feeling quite lonely. I wondering if I made the correct decision to have this surgery. Unfortunately, I do not know anyone who has had the surgery that I can talk to. My husband said he would be supportive of my decision to have the surgery but that does not seem to be happening. I'm not looking for people to praise me on all that I have lost. Has anyone else every felt this way, like you have no one to talk to that understands what you are going through.

  8. Hello everyone. I have been considering this surgery for several years but have decided to finally start my journey. I am looking for a support buddy who is also just starting off so we can go threw it together. So far i have gone to the seminar, called my insurance (seems like i will be a shoe in), and have my first consultation on the January 22. A little about me: i am going to be 23 y.o. I have no kids but two very bratty dogs and a great my goal after surgery will be to loss 200 pounds. My best friends says she is supportive but thinks that its unnatural and that we can do it together .. But if that was true she would be skinny and healthy already... Anyway, I'm…

  9. I am a size 18 right now, size 20 dress. The wedding is 8 months away and the bridesmaids dresses are being ordered in 2 months since she has 6 bridesmaids and the store said we had to, to get them in time. So, I hope to be a 16 (18 dress) in 2 months (or smaller ), but still when ordering I will be 6 months before the wedding, not sure what to do. The dress, per the store, can go in 2 sizes without looking much different, it can go up 1 size only. More than that depends on the dress. Thoughts?? Do I dare order a size down, so maybe a 16 dress (14), since dresses run about 1-2 size smaller than clothing. That would mean I would have to be about 200 pounds to be in a 14 at…

Hi my name is Quinn, I'm twenty two and currently trying to get things moving to get gastric bypass. My first seminar is this Thursday and I'm pretty much feeling around in the dark about this whole thing despite how much research I do. I could use friends who are going through the same thing or have already gone through it. I am willing to communicate via this site, facebook, email, or even phone. Any takers? =)

Great news everyone my surgery was approved! Two appeals through my insurance company, but letters from my therapist, primary care physician and my bariatric surgeon all worked. I too wrote a really thoughtful letter. I was denied twice because my surgeon and I could not make the case for the band-to-bypass revision surgery but... finally the insurance company re-examined all the letters and the evidence and came to a decision that it's actually medically necessary. Wahoo!! Just found out today the surgery is scheduled for January 21, 2013!!! Wahoo

  14. Probably gonna make some enemies here but why would you go through a surgery like gastric bypass and eat carbs and drink alcohol and try to go back to the way things used to be. It is driving me crazy. I'm successful because I follow the plan. You will not hear me whine about stalls in weight loss... It's part of the plan. But really ladies and gents the surgery is a tool to be used and not abused. We have all been overweight for awhile and know what makes us fat. Why do we insist on trying to go back to old ways!

Im done with that and back on track now but I'm feeling extremely nauseous and stomach is hurting bad today...all I've had today is a protein shake....could this be the past two weeks catching up with me????? Hope this ends soon......NOTHING taste good enough to be feeling like this!!

I want to know has anyone experience dizziness. I woke up Sunday morning with a bad headache and I was kind of dizzy. I thought it was my blood pressure but I haven't had problems with that in 4 years. I went to the er Christmas eve they done blood work and my potassium was low but it's Friday and I am still experiencing dizziness etc . I just google some info and found out that others experience it as well and it might be coming from a lack of water etc and waiting to long to eat . Does anyone have any experiences to share concerning this matter ?

I have gone to 2 of the 6 required nutritionist visits required for weightloss surgery. I see the surgeon next month to decide what type of surgery I want to have. I am 26 yrs old, 6'3", and 327 with sleep apnea, high cholesterol, pre diabetic, and minor reflux. Dieting hasn't worked too well bc I always gain it back. I've been on 4 major (and expensive) diets since I was 13. I am just so tired and beat down feeling... My wife is scared for me to have gastric bypass and I am too but I am starting to feel likes its my only option. Any encouraging words?

Hello fellow members: Anyone have trouble with kidney stones post op? I produce Calcium oxalate stones. At one point I was passing one a month. Ive since gone down to one every 6-8 weeks. Anyone else the same problem? Ive seen numerous specialist, tried a bunch of treatments with no help. The common theme was drink more Water... as most of us know is very difficult at 3-4 months post-op. Some of my treatments include Potassium Citrate, diruetics, mass doses of calcium and of course lots of water. The majority are small stones... 5-8 mm but they still hurt like a b****. Ive had larger ones. I passes 4-5 stones in the years prior to surgery, immediately after …

I asked surgeon about this at follow up and he said it wouldn't be the same. I'm 5 weeks out and eating regular foods now but I feel like I'm eating way too much at times. I'm measuring everything and trying to keep everything to a minimum. In my manual from Nut some stuff have 2 T servings of this or that and I can eat more than that. Today I wanted to eat every hour. Hi, I've posted here, and also on gastric sleeve. I was banded 3.5 years ago. I lost 48 lbs with the band within four months. After which I became more and more tighter with fills. However, I could still eat more than usual because I was always still hungry. Therefore, spite being too tight and could still eat, I lost no more weight and started having more severe issues. Now my Doc is saying that the band must go b/c it is no longer of use to me. I have a little fluid left in my band and have regained 10 lbs. I am 5'3" and weigh around 215 lbs. I have diabetes, high BP, and high cholesterol. I'm assuming that If I had to wait 6 mos. after band removal, I would probably ga…
