  3. Nestea Zero. This is a Coke product. Probably not available south of the border tho. I'm pretty sure it's only available in Canada. I'm enjoying one right now.

  7. I also had surgery on the 18th. Doc said my surgery was text book. Went perfectly and took less time than usual. I'm from Toronto Canada. I'm not all that good with keep up with a pen pal kind of thing, just thought I would wish you guys the best of luck with your new journey in life. May we all be very successful!
  8. I often respond with "if I don't get the surgery, I could die of a heart attack or something else that is related to being overweight". Usually shuts them up quickly, and it doesn't. I say I will make the decisions in my life and they can make the decisions in their life.

  10. Everyone's bodies respond differently to everything. You could have gotten an infection if you had a different surgery. I hope everything turns around for you and you have a different outlook on the whole experience. Maybe think of this as a minor detour down a new road that has yet to be paved. Hopefully that new road is long and has a lot of exciting new adventures and your detour is short and brief.
  11. I think that's more or less a person to person situation. I know if my wife didn't take time off of work that I would have struggled. I wouldn't have been capable of taking care of my daughter. I'm 6 days post-op now and I'm still having difficulties bending and lifting light objects. I would at least stay with someone for a few days, and if you're feeling better, you can always go home. Best of luck.

  13. I know this is the powder room, this thread just popped up on the app for some reason, however, my wife, as well as a few o her friends who used depo when they were younger, have suffered from long term side effects. 1 of the girls who is 32 is already going through menopause. My wife cannot get pregnant again, we've been having unprotected sex for 7 years. Luckily we were blessed with a daughter before all this happened. And now my wife goes a long time without getting her periods. I'm sure there are side effects with any form of birth control, I just figured I would share what I do know about the depo. Best of luck.
  14. When I had my psych eval, I made sure I answered the questions with what they would want to hear. Not only did I have a questionnaire of approximately 250 questions(on paper), they asked me questions in person as well. The paper questions had the same question multiple times, worded slightly different each time. Also, I'm from Canada and my health care which is free to all those who live in Ontario, covered the surgery 100%. So there might also be other factors which make it easier for people here to get approved.
  15. I miss pizza and the daily specials from Baldwin Street Burgers. Oh, and Prime Rib. Mind you, I'm still only 6 days post-op and not sure if I will be able to eat prime rib because its far from lean. I'm actually in the middle of a career change because of the surgery, used to be a chef.
  16. I was told to wait at least 1 week to drive, but if I was still on pain meds to wait until I didn't need them anymore. Going back to work really depends on your job. Because this is an abdominal surgery, things take much longer to heal inside than they do on the outside. As well, you're re-learning how to eat and drink. They like you to learn this before heading back to the daily grind.

  18. I am from Oshawa Ontario. Approximately 30 minutes east of Toronto.
  19. I can never get my wife to wear lingerie. I've bought her some before and it just sits in her dresser. She thinks its too much of a chore to put it on only to wear it for a while. She would rather just get down to the nitty gritty.
  20. My initial weight was around 450. 4 week pre-op liquid diet. Day of surgery I weighed in at 408.5. Haven't stepped back on the scale. Waiting for the 1 month follow up appointment.
  21. Hi everybody. 30 years old, married and a father of a 7 year old girl. highest weight 450lbs. Weight at surgery was 408.6. Surgery was 12/18/12. I've got way too many reasons to list as to why I got the surgery. Besides from being excessively overweight, my health is very good and I didn't want that to change. I am from Toronto Ontario Canada. Nice to finally meet the guys on this forum.
  22. Anyone have tips on passing gas? Lol. I'm now on day 2 and haven't been able to pass gas. It wants to come out I just can't seem to get it out. I've been walking and drinking a fair amount. I've also attempted to lay on my side, nothing.
