Hi everyone, another question: I'm 3 weeks out and since leaving the hospital I was consistently losing 1lb per day, but 5 days ago I actually went up 1lb and haven't lost anything since! Feeling a little discouraged : ( anyone else experience anything like this?

I am a brand new member here and thought I'd post a hello. I'm 34 and as of Tuesday I was 268. I have battled with my weight my whole life. I was always the chubby athletic girl. I am scheduled for June 7 for my RNY. I am super excited and very nervous. I have been heavy my whole life and finally things are in place in my life that I can make a new start. I had my last pre-op appointment on Tuesday, and started my liquid diet yesterday. I feel ok, just really hungry. Having to make dinner for my kids (my hubby works evenings) is by far the hardest part of my day. The hospital I'm having surgery at requires you to be on liquids for 2 weeks pre surgery. So, hell…

Well, I had my RNY surgery on Monday, 4/29/13. I did my research and was ready to go. I had no idea how poorly I would feel afterwards. Five days in the hospital. Had RNY, hiatal hernia repair, inguinal hernia repair, bowel resection, and GB removal. Needless to say, everything other than the RNY was a surprise to me. The five days in the hospital were very hard due to pain and lack of sleep to to constant interruptions. So glad to be home and in my own bed. Slept 5 hours last night, awoke to a lot of pain which was quickly controlled with Tylenol with codeine. It took 4 days for the barium swallow to go through, so I've only been sipping liquids since Thursday. …

Hello, I'm Danielle and I am one of the MANY people who need to have a revision surgery. I had my band put in in July 2009. There were many ups and downs but I landed in the 40% EWL category. I still had 90lbs to go, but after discussing it with a different bariatric surgeon... He broke the news to me: (+)65% of all Lap Bands will fail in the first 6 years, and his case load carries more then 90 revisions a year. I was relieved to hear that it wasn't "Me" who failed; it was the band that failed. You see... I have a DIRE need to lose my weight. I have no co-morbidities, however, at 32 years old I have had 2 major back surgeries. In August 2012, I had a spinal fus…

Is it possible for this surgery to not work? I'm so discouraged. I'm on week 6 and I've only lost 20 lbs. 18 of it was the first 2 weeks. It's so hard for me to not get discouraged and stay motivated when I know most everyone would be so much further along in their weightloss. I made this huge life changing decision to have this surgery. I didn't see it playing out this way.

Hi there - Anyone want to be a Buddy/Mentor in the Lehigh Valley, PA area? I am having surgery on June 5th. I had expected to have the Sleeve but my doc thinks GP is better for several reasons. So, suddenly I am having a surgery I hadn't prepared for in my head. I am ok with his recommendation and agree but have questions.

Hi all - I have surgery scheduled June 5th and am leaving for an 11 day vacation out west on July 3rd (one month after surgery). We are flying out there and driving around to diff states the rest of the days, then flying back. Am wondering how difficult this will by? Any feedback on how you were feeling/energy level one month post-op? Thank you!

I had my surgery a week ago, and I am trying to get the hang of the post op diet. I figured out early what dumping syndrome felt like, because I tried to hit my goal of 60 oz liquid and 60 grams of protein too fast. I also didn't dilute my fruit juice. BIG mistake! Really weak and confused and sweating excessively. So I ramped everything way down, and it made me feel better, but this evening I'm feeling weak and disoriented again. Did anyone else go through something similar? What helped?

I'm frustrated I'm not losing weight before the surgery because I have to lose 5-10%. I could use some friends going through this too!

Hi All! I started my journey on September 4 last year, after years of struggling with my weight and dealing with a redundant lap band. So here I am 8.5 months out total weight loss to date is 55kgs or 121lbs. But I still have agessss to go! Ive got another 40ish kgs to lose. I think Ive hit a plateau, Im also a little stressed because I thought I would be goal weight but my one year anniversary. But looking back I think I have put too much pressure on myself. I heard that the first year is crucial to loose the majority of your weight, but my doctor has said its actually 18 months to 2 years.. Im also having a hard time with wanting bad food, what do you do to curb…

I don't eat junk food and still have small portions of food but I'm not seeing the drop like I have in the past. I want to reach my goal of 180lbs so I can have my surgery to remove loose skin. Is there anyone in ct or near that would want to be a support buddy? - Michelle

So I have tricare standard which does cover the procedure, and I happen to meet all the criteria. I was wondering if anyone in the South Texas area has used either Nilesh Patel or Ramiro "Sonny" Cavazos? Those are the two doctors that take my insurance that seem to have the best patient reviews (that I've found anyway). I would love any imput! Thank you!

Anyone have their band out and have time in between the revision? I had my band out on Thursday and they haven't set an exact date for my bypass yet, but it will be sometime within the next 2 months. I made a tuna melt for lunch today. My first bite in and it got stuck!!! I mean, sliming, gagging, painful, stuck! It eventually went through, but I can't believe that the scar tissue from only having a band for 2 years could cause that much of an imprint on my belly that food is still getting stuck. Anyone else have this happen??

My journey has been long and hard and I have had to overcome more than my share of heartbreak and ache and loss, but I am still HERE! While I have spent my last 9 years raising my incredible and amazing little girl, it seems that I also forgot to remember to take care of myself through it all and that brings me to where I am today. I am 31 years old and I weigh 274 lbs... Just typing that number makes me ashamed and sort of sick... So before I go back and delete it, I will ask for words of advice. I have had trouble finding a surgeon that would do the surgery on someone my age, I've actually been trying since I was 17. I'm new to the forum. It has a lot of new fresh users and information. I had lap band surgery in April 2009. I lost just about 20 pounds, but could never find the sweet spot with my fills. In 2012 my cardiologist suggested I lose a few pounds. When I reminded him I had a band, he suggested investigating the possibility of a revision. A lot of his banded patient's didn't seem to have much weight loss success. I started the whole process over in November 2012 and in about 10 days I will get a surgery date for the by-pass. I originally wanted the sleeve in 2009, but the insurance company then thought t was experimental. Now, it seems I meet more sleeve patients than …
