I'm happy to say I'm on my way! Today I was able to make my first round of appointments from a VERY helpful person at the Bariatric Center of my hospital. I spoke to someone briefly the other day and she was beyond no help and fairly rude. I have scheduled between now and January 2nd.... 2 educational seminar "classes" on Bariatric Surgery (required by my hospital) followed by 2 appointments one morning with the PA first than an hour later with the Nutrionist and finally an appointment with the Dietician. I'm really looking forward to learning more and getting this process started!

Even though I am now down 109 lbs I still don't see it myself (unless looking at side by side pics).....everyone around me notices but its harder for me. Well yesterday I was in the waiting area while my husbands truck was getting cleaned...I looked down and wondered who the hell was sitting on my lap....these legs can't belong to me, can they?!?!?

Now. I started a similar thread asking if you regret having the rny procedure. Everyone said no. Now, I'd like to know what leaned you toward this over the sleeve? I'm trying to make the most educated decision I can. My pcp yesterday, told me that he had a patient nearly die because he took an anti inflammatory after the rny and nearly killed himself. This is news to me. When will I learn all of his?

When I had surgery almost 8 months ago, the thought of losing 175 lbs seemed like such an impossible pipe dream. Today I am officially down 130 lbs (side note 11 lbs til onederland!!!) and only have 45 more to go. I never in a million years thought I would be living this wonderful life. My health is better, my attitude is better and I feel soooooo much better. Today I bought a large shirt to wear with my size 14 pants. WTH... its crazy to think that almost 8 months ago I was wearing a 3x and size 28 pants that were tight!!! The stalls have been many but the overall outcome has been spectacular. I can hardly wait to hit my goal weight... which I know now is attain…

Hi! I had a Lap to RNY conversion on Wednesday. The surgery was scheduled for Tuesday, but the anesthesiologist pumped me up with too much gas & they had to try to do the surgery the following day. I was an add on patient for Wednesday. The procedure was supposed to be strictly a laparoscopic surgery. I noticed when I came home that I have 10 lap sites & 1 open incision on my left side. The site is puckered in VERY deep & looks like a huge/wide/ scary roll with sores inside of it. The "sinkhole" is completely disproportionate to my body. I didn't know if this was normal. It's extremely painful & I am so upset. I'm not trying to complain. I am …

I am struggling with managing school, home and WLS. I did good the first week of school, made sure I brought enough protein, I worked out 3 times at the gym that week. And here we just ended the second week and I feel like a failure. I have slacked off on the protein, on the working out, even my homework. I am thinking it's contributed to my PMS, but now I feel anxiety coming on about managing everything in life. How do yall do it? The ones who are months and years out. I am almost 11 weeks out. I bought the book "Before & After, Living and Eating after WLS" but it hasn't come yet. I am thinking I need to buy the WLS for dummies book, I sure do feel like a dummy.

Is it eating the wrong foods? Soda? Pouch stretching? Everyone I know personally that's had the surgery hasten successful long term but you always hear about people gaining it back. I want to be sure that doesn't happen...so keep wondering what happens with those that regain? My surgery was the RNY with Fobi pouch which from what I understood means there is a band on my stoma that will prevent my pouch from being able to stretch. I would love to hear others input on this and have others ad the fobi pouch? It was an option my surgeon offers and I went with it.

I have weighed my self almost everyday since I started the entire process back in January. I have always felt that if I get on the scale it helps keep me accountable. What I have now realized is that I have become a slave to the scale. My only motivation was seeing those numbers go down. I finally had a nervous break down over it this week. I have decicided to no longer runt my life around the scale.... There is so much more to health then numbers on a scale. I have to determine in my mind that know matter what the numbers say I want to optimism maximum health. So for the first time in a very long time I will only be weighing my self once a week. That way I can focus on…

  36. So I found out that i was approved recently.. bringing up lots of conversations about my surgery.. I've discovered a lot of people are saying negative things to me For example: Your tattoos are going to look bad you are going to get too skinny and look gross you are going to lose alllllll your boobs and all your butt you are going to look gross because you will have extra skin you might die it's dangerous i don't think you should " i know this person who got it and regretted it because she looks bad" So my question is.. How do i stay positive. All the things they say run through my mind and bring me down majorly. Of course all of this IS a concern of mine.. and…

" Riis and his colleagues have completed studies at Panda Express, a chain Asian fast food restaurant, showing that customers will often accept an offer to reduce the size of a calorie-filled side dish (such as rice) to cut more than 200 calories out of their meal (some also received a small discount on the meal for doing so). The offer was much more successful than menu calorie labeling at getting customers to eat lower-calorie lunches." Very interesting article on the psychological side of over eating. We are slowly starting to see an increase in the amount of research done in what may be a promising and overlooked part of the equation. Have you switched to using sma…

Ok, I'm in the process of passing a kidney stone. Any recommendations or advice on how I can avoid them in the future. This is the 2nd one I've passed in my life. The first one was a week after I gave birth to my twins so it was no surprise when I learned I had one. This one though, I have no clue what caused it. I've never been diabetic or had other kidney problems. I'm staying well hydrated. New Life Started 07/24/12
