Question for the Vets

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, I have been working with a surgeon and am considering bypass. I read an article today and it said that most complications show up once you are further out and that there are a lot of regrets once you have gotten through the "honeymoon period". It also stated that no one goes without complications or regrets . Can anyone comment on this for me?

I would probably use the term "trade off". After surgery, I found it difficult to enjoy eating. I use to love to eat, to taste the variety of food. After surgery, it is difficult to enjoy a meal. It is more like a task. On the other hand, almost all my medical conditions (diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, GERD, profuse sweating, frequent urination) have gone and remain in remission. In addition I have lost 110 pounds and kept it off which gives me great stamina (ability to perform physical labor). I also went from a size 3X in shirts down to a size small and from a size 46 in pants down to a size 33.

Hi, I am a little over two years have lost 123 pounds. This surgery is a lot of hard work and not the easy way out. It's a life style change that's for sure and also a marathon not a sprint to lose the weight. I have been lucky and have not had no complications. I have no regrets and wish I would have done this years ago. Best of luck

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
