From my experience, as long as you really are putting an effort into getting your water in then you are doing good. Right after surgery my surgeon told me I was supposed to be taking in 40-60 grams of protein from shakes and meals but even 3 months out now I haven't been able to take that much in. And as far as rice, I would be gentle with it when time comes for you to be able to have it. What surgery did you have?

I had the gastric bypass. Yes I am having a hard time getting my water n protein both but I am trying to get as much as I can. Protein has gpttten to where I get sick at the thought of the drinks but I do what I can to drink them. I will if I ever decided to eat rice since surgery.. @stephir76, good luck on surgery.
