I am 11 weeks post op and I am SO tired and am at like I am always hungry. I walk 2-4 miles a day and have only lost thirty pounds since surgery. I get plenty of fluids mostly water and decaf unsweet. I don't notice the weight loss but I know my clothes are loser and I HATE looking in the mirror because I swear my skin is looser. I know I will have loose skin but I never thought I would detest looking at myself. Am I doing something wrong? Iamonlyhuman

I'm in week 7 after surgery. My wife made some lentil soup which includes tomato. I was told that I should stay away from tomato. I still don't understand why.

Im just curious as to when you return to normal sexual activities following surgery. My discharge papers from the hospital said "sexual activity- ok". I couldn't imagine having or wanting sex leaving the hospital or even 4 to 5 days out now...My energy level is coming back but zero interest in sex so far.

It's my boyfriend's birthday and we're going out to dinner tonight. His family does not know that I had surgery. Now, I'm 2.5 weeks post op, and will be going in for my "phase change" appointment on Tuesday - meaning my surgeon will change me from liquids to puréed food. Would it be appropriate to get something of that nature at dinner? I wish I thought of this yesterday and would have called the surgeon, but here we are. What were you eating at 2.5 weeks out? Suggestions appreciated!

I was sleeved in December and I'm STILL struggling to get in all 60g of protein. Shakes don't sit to well with me but I try to get in one a day. I get my protein in through salmon, yogurt or egg whites but not all 60g. Any suggestions/ideas? What shakes do you guys like? Maybe it's the brand of shakes I'm getting. Not sure.

Good day all, I have been experiencing pain in my back and belly under my ribs. Has anyone else had this issue? I have been at a stand still for many months with no weight lost. Coming up on my 2nd year post op sleeve.

I am probably going to have my surgery for gastric sleeve in April or may and I am worried about work. At the support groups they say to take 6 weeks. Others say between 3 to 6 weeks. There is NO way I can take off more than a week at my job. I do work at a desk and I can be sure to not schedule any appointments the week I return. My question is: has anyone who has been sleeved went back to work after a week. My main reason is I just don't have enough sick time to take more than a week and I can't take it unpaid. Thank you all in advance

Every protein shake I have tried tastes terrible to me. I am almost a week out. Anyone have any good suggestions? I have been eating cottage cheese, Greek yogurt and soups that are all liquified down, but really struggling to get my proteins and water in. My mid-back aches and I just don't feel hungry. I am starting to feel a little weak. I have only urinated twice today. Anyone have any good advice?

I have my surgery date and by my calculations, it will likely be "that time of the month." It's making me nervous. Did anyone experience this at the time of their surgery? I have my final pre-op appointment with the doctor in a couple of weeks and plan on bringing it up, but I don't wan to sound silly.

I am pre-surgery and thought this question would be best suited for this group. The only person I have told and will tell about getting WLS is my husband. Its just what's best for me. I do have friends and family who love to sit around the dinner table to eat and chat. When family visits, where to eat is always topic #1. We have sunday breakfast with my FIL twice a month. What do I tell other people when i cant eat "normally" pre/post op? I will not skip these times with family as it would do more harm than good, so im looking for a good way to explain my new eating habits in a way that woll not draw more questions. Anyone have any experience in this?

I am 3 days out from lap removal and conversion to gastric bypass. I can't tell when I am full, but feel pressure in middle of my back. Can that be fullness or will it be in middle of my chest? Also, think I have some heartburn. Does that mean I am eating too much? I haven't been able to eat and drink what I am suppose to so far! I don't feel nauseated, but don't want to do anything wrong. Please advise! Also, can I take some maalox?

The day has finally come. After starting my journey March 21, 2016 with my six month, insurance-required, pre-op diet program, my BMI based on this morning's weight of 220 is 29.8. So, I am no longer obese by any measure. As much as I think the BMI scale is flawed and ridiculous, it means a great deal to me to be below this threshold. (And speaking of which, why does BP round BMI now? I liked it better when it was exact.) It is amazing to think that I have lost 177 pounds, and that I just have 40 more to go to reach my final goal of 180 pounds (and my surgery was just in late September). For all of you that are just starting out, this can happen for you, too. …

Can anyone tell me what its like to have a stomach bug after gastric bypass? My whole family caught something last week that caused 24 hours of vomiting, last night they all came down with the same thing again. I was hoping my pouch was immune to whatever they have, but now I'm thinking I'm getting it too.

So, I went shopping yesterday for the first time in a couple of months. And I am proud to say that NOTHING was "plus sized". It was my first non big girl store shopping trip in more time than I can remember. And on top of that, I was buying Large shirts and size 10 jeans. I never thought that I would feel this good so soon. I am so happy! As many others say, wish I had only done this sooner! If I feel this great at 5 months post op, I cant wait what the future holds!!

So I went to my two week check today, and I have a hard time getting my protein shakes in because of the grittiness (I've tried premade, different brands etc) so he decided to keep me on liquids for another month, and told me to drink Ensure clear instead... I drank some and it made me throw up everything. Now my stomach feels like it's been ripped opened... and I'm also having a hard time getting even water in now... I'm at a loss... [emoji22]

Hello, It has been two years since my surgery date, and I have lost weight but reached a wall. I am unsure on what a daily food journal should look like or where to start with proportions. I need some guidance to get back on track with my calorie intake, nutrition and Vitamins. Thank you in advance Edit: Also seeking how to maintain an active lifestyle with my sleeve and how to get more energy to partake.

So before surgery I was always hoping my weight could be blamed on thyroid but blood work was always normal. Now almost 8 months out and two sets of blood work have come back indicating hypothyroid with presence of antibodies. Have an appointment with an endocrinologist at the end of the month. I definitely have symptoms but had attributed some of them to the WL, like being cold all the time. Did this happen to anyone else?

Hi there! My Surgeon recommended the bypass due to my hiatal hernia. I stayed strong with the sleeve... however, he really has me 2nd guessing my gut feeling. Have any of you had hiatal hernia repair with the sleeve? If so, could you please share your experience with me as well as your recovery with hernia repair. And lastly, if your off of acid reflux medication. I've been on 2 medications for 19 years.... I'm over it.. but want to make sure I'm choosing the correct wls as well. Thx for any input you can share! [emoji4]

I am 6 days post sleeve. I am supposed to go to full liquids tomorrow. I was wondering if I could have egg drop Soup? Or would I have to strain the egg? My diet said I could have strained cream Soups (I'm honestly not a soup eater besides egg drop). If not it's ok I really have no desire to eat right now but curious if I could. Thanks

Okay so I still haven't had a bowel movement. Took a suppository and have tried metamucil and nothing. I lost 10 lbs in my pre op liquid diet but gained it all back with all the IV fluids, etc by the time I left the hospital. I'm down 6 lbs so far. Drinking fine, getting up to walk every hour and do my breathing exercise. I feel a little frustrated about the weight loss but will be patient. Anyone else not had a BM by the time of their 1 week post op? Should I try something else?

I had surgery 2/21. I feel like my taste buds are extra sensitive and i can taste every ingredient in the food and drinks i consume [emoji40]. For example, when i drink water from a water bottle, i can taste the plastic. And when i have anything with protein in it, i can taste the protein. Does anyone else have heightened taste buds since surgery?? [emoji176]

Sorry if that's TMI, but that's what it feels like. I am 6 months post-op and am having trouble with food after eating. About an hour or so after eating, sometimes if feels like liquid food is rolling into my esophagus. It tastes acidy but reminiscent of whatever I'd just eaten. It's hard to describe, it doesn't happen all the time, and it can happen while I am sitting or lying down (like when lounging around watching TV or reading). Once it starts, it takes about 20-30 minutes to go away. Tums or sipping something doesn't seem to make any difference. Any idea of what it could be? I have my 6 month follow up with my surgeon in a week and will definitely talk to her about…

So right now I'm back at home while I do the surgery and recover I'm 55 days out from surgery. I had the sleeve done and I'm on soft foods, my mother has been super supportive. Also she's driving me crazy. So basically whatever I'm eating I'll serve myself and sometimes when I would puree or cook myself something it would make a few days serving. I won't serve myself all of it but let's say for an example I'll serve myself a bowl of soup a serving size worth. Often times my mother will say "You are serving too much for yourself! You can't eat all that." I know. I know I can't eat all of that I never do. I will eat until I'm satisfied and put the rest away for later. Beca…

I'm 3 months post op and I ate a donut last night and it was the worst decision I've made in my life. I felt TERRIBLE. I had cold sweats, dry heaves, a headache, the worst stomach ache I've ever had, and I was even shivering. I felt like I was dying. Needless to say I am going to be steering CLEAR of sugar from now on.

Please, please tell me that there is a decent tasting protein drink out there? I don't know how I'm going to make it. I can not handle Isopure or liquidcel so far. Nor unflavored protein powder. There is a smell to all these drinks and as soon as they get up by my nose, my stomach wants to retch. TMI - Even after just a taste, I belch it back up and can smell it...omg...I don't know how I'm going to handle protein shakes when I get to full liquids. I'm really concerned about not getting my protein requirements but I don't want to vomit everytime I try to drink one of these.
