I didn't have bad post-surgical gas pain. So that ended pretty quickly after surgery. I was feeling terrific until yesterday when what I am assuming is gas pain took over my abdominal cavity. It is a constant dull ache - up under my ribs on the sides, across the middle of my back, a feeling of needing to burp, but not being able to. My stomach looks puffed up. I'm so uncomfortable! I am still on Clear liquids and Protein shakes only. I have used two GasX strips, but I am not sure they are doing anything. I don't think it's constipation as I seem to go once a day and it's fairly normal, given I'm still on liquids. Breathing in deeply doesn't feel good nor does drinking …

I'm about 2.5 months post-op and one of my friends said something interesting to me today - he said it sounds like my voice changed since I've lost all the weight. I asked him what he meant and he said the pitch was a little different. Has anyone else heard this or noticed this? My voice sounds the same to me but I hear it everyday so I wouldn't notice any changes.

How much can you eat around 6 months post op? I feel at times that I can eat a lot more than I'm supposed to! I don't let myself because I'm scared to actually see how much. But for example: we were road tripping and I got a Wendy's Jr. Cheeseburger and was able to eat all but a bite. Is this completely out of the ordinary? I didn't at all feel over stuffed. It was the tiny kids cheeseburger that comes in their meal. Please don't post hateful stuff cause I ate a cheeseburger LOL. I eat very good 99% of the time. Thanks everyone. Also, I've lost 60 pounds so far, with about 40 more to go. I had surgery 9/12/16 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I plan to ask my doctors team on Monday. I had surgery on Monday the 6th. Every morning when I wake up I have this weird feeling. All I can explain it is a combination between a little nausea and like a fluttery feeling in my stomach. I'm not sure how else to describe it. Yesterday it subsided during the day unless I tried doing to much but came back at night. I am a revision from the band and pre op I was told that there was a greater risk of leaks due to the band. So I am kind of nervous. Not that I'm thinking that is the problem.

Hi I am 8 days post op and I am still having bad gas pains in my chest. Every time I drink anything I get painful air bubbles in my chest. Also, I'm having a hard time with liquids. Everything tastes gross, the taste of everything is different and I always have a weird taste in my mouth. Gas x doesn't help. Anything else I can try?

I already know the answer to this question... but, is there any way egg drop soup could count as broth? Lol... it's not a real bulky soup... and I've been craving it, and I have 3 days left before my first week post-op is over.

So, I feel amazing! I have lost more than 80 pounds since pre-op diet started and over 90 total. I am less than 5 pounds from the original goal I had set, although I now want to lose about 10-15 more pounds. What worries me his that the last few weeks I have seen a noticeable difference in how much I can eat. That scares the hell out of me. So far, I have been making good choices still but am so afraid that I will start to eat more than I should. I'm at about 1000-1100 calories per day. For others that experienced similar change in amount you can eat I'd appreciate any tips. I will continue to track everything and try to make good choices but appreciate any ad…

Hello all, I just had my surgery on Tuesday 7th 2017 I was sent home on the 9th. Everything is going well I'm not hungry at all but I'm still trying to get some protein in. The problem I'm having is when I cough...oh boy does it hurts. Anybody else have their problem and when does it go away.

In 4 days I hit the one month mark since gastric. I had been at the 3 week stall and all of the sudden I lost 2 lbs. I was super excited. Yesterday all I had for the day was almost one full protein drink and I made tacos for my family. I took a little of the 90/10 hamburger meat , a little of the light sour cream, a sprinkle of the cheese, and about a tsp of fresh salsa and mixed ut up. That was my dinner. Tell me why I woke up almost 2 lbs heavier?!?! I am seriously so upset. It's like im never supposed to eat. Very discouraged. I know this is tmi but I haven't used the bathroom in like 5 days but dont feel like I need to either.

I'm wondering what others take to relieve constipation. I've tried MOM, and laxative tea, but it didn't work. Every time I try to go, it's so painful I feel like I'm going to pass out from pain. Any suggestions ?

Ugh! So, when I got home from the hospital I had dry mouth and thought I was dehydrated. And when I looked at my tongue, I thought the white film I had also came from being dehydrated. Called my surgeon, and they said to get some dry mouth spray. When my throats started to hurt and it became hard to swallow, I went to my PCP, and they said I had full blown thrush! Did anyone else experience this? Is thrush common after surgery?

I posted in the men's page but I didn't get a response, so lets open it up to everybody. I've been fairly active with working out the last year with CrossFit and cardio about 4 times a week until a month ago because I had an anal fistula that I had surgery on. It was the tipping point of deciding to do the surgery. My doc has released me to walk and that is it right now. After the sleeve how long until you can get your heart rate for incline walking? Or even CrossFit? Or Sex? How long were most of you off of work? I have a hard time of being still!

Today I has my SVG They took me to the surgery room at 8:00 am. Surgery last 1 hour. I remember waking up at 10 am. Sure enough, the only pain I had was the pain pressure from gas. After 3 sets of walks and pain medication, my pain was reduced from 9 to 3. Still have gas in my abdomen and chest pressure, does anyone knows how to overcome this a bit quicker?

Is anyone on here post op 4 years or more? Just checking to see how everything is and if there has been any weight gain. It gets so much harder the further out you are. I lost 175 lbs but in the past year gained about 15 lbs back from my lowest. It is extremely hard to lose weight now and I feel like I eat like a normal person again. And I feel like I'm hungry all the time. This is making me nervous. I try eating healthy and exercising but doesn't seem to be helping.

I'm one week postop, and started my period - this caught me off guard because I just completed my cycle 4 days before surgery. So it's been about 2 weeks since the start of my last period. I know surgery causes alot of stress on your body, I was just wondering if this could have something to do with it, or if anyone else has experienced this.

Today is day 4 for me, and right now - all I've thought is, "what did I do to myself"? When does the change occur? When does the stomach pain with swallowing stop? When will I stop being dizzy? When will I get some energy back? Right now, all I want to do is sleep.

What the heck is a plateau ? In all of my research I have never come across this term . I am 6months out and have lost 86 pounds. I only need to lose another 20 -25. Last month I lost 6 pounds and this month 4 pounds ( of course I was disappointed). My surgeon explained that I am at a plateau and that inches will be coming off, not so much pounds while my body catches up to itself . Has anyone heard of this before? Or even experienced it ? On Monday I was 5 weeks post op. I am officially down 27lbs since my appt for surgery clearance and 21lbs down since the night before surgery. Reason I say I'm frustrated is i lost majority of this weight by 2 week post op. Now for the past 3 since I'm able to eat food I notice that my weight isn't coming off and if so it's super slow. I just got the ok to resume a regular diet and ok'd to start going to the gym. Hoping that with increasing my exercising that the weight will start peeling off again. has anyone else struggled with plateauing and if so did it last this long for you. I have been stuck at 188.9-191.

One of my sons is a phenomenal athlete (track, cross country, swimming, and soccer). Since surgery he's worked with me to find exercise I like and when I travel he sends me reminders to hit the hotel gym. Even though he can run circles around me, for months he's gone with me at 430 AM, three days a week, when I go running/jogging. One of the indicators he was most concerned about was my high resting heart rate (and my BP). For the last few days my resting HR has been really great- a huge change since last July when I had WLS. After this morning's run, he gave me one of his track gold track medals and told me that my heart is getting slower and his is getting bigger becaus…

I had my sleeve on 3/6 on Monday, I stayed two nights in the hospital due to nausea. And the fact I barely was getting any fluids in. Since I've been home I've been drinking a lot better. Yesterday managed nearly 40oz crystal light (it's very diluted but I've always found this easier to drink than plain water except at the gym) and 1 premier protein 11oz drink. Took a while to drink. Today I've drank 2 premier protein drinks and like 50oz crystal light. Before surgery I was a CL drinker, over 100oz in a day. I know fluids go right through so I'm not worried about stretching or anything. But am I drinking to much to soon? I'm not really crazy wanting to drink, bu…

I am one week post op and for the past few days I'm having a really hard time tolerating anything. I can't even seem to get water down without instantly feeling sick to my stomach. I haven't vomited yet but I've been close... I have been taking my nausea medicine but it's not helping. I think I maybe dehydrated? Any opinions? I feel terrible.

I am just 8 days port op. I had done my homework, attended meetings, and thought I was well prepared. Surprise! If it's going to happen, it's going to happen to me 1) It's not supposed to hurt this bad, at least those on YouTube or tv don't hurt like I'm hurting! 2) No one ever mentioned anything about the "bloody diarrhea ". 2 days straight of shooting blood! 3) How about the incredible yellow bruising at my incision ports? Embarrassing but true I am an extraordinary unique individual. Have I any regrets, no. So bringing this to light, I hope others who may have this experience won't feel as bewildered as I found myself .

Gas pain succcccccks! 5th day post bypass and it has brought me to tears 3 times! This isn't your overeating gas or your everyday burp/fart but CO2 that was injected into our bodies so doc could work that has to be absorbed into the body to be expelled.. gas meds and lying down flat helps they say.. but to my experience my pain was front under left rib so relief was to be on my bed in cat like position on all 4s and my hubs rubbed my back to kinda jostle the gas back around so the pain was dispersed and not all in a pocket .. the goal being to get the opposite side up for gas to travel upward as it wants to .. glad I figured out what worked for me good luck and God bless!

Hello I am exactly 4 months post op and about 2 weeks ago I started having some nausea and occasional vomiting after meals, as well as severe constipation. I also cannot eat as much at mealtime as I have been eating the past month or so prior to 2 weeks ago. The nausea comes after eating Breakfast, lunch and dinner.... but it does not come after eating a light snack such as several almonds or a little bit of hummus. If I eat about 2 ounces of Protein and a few bites of vegetables for lunch or dinner, then I always get the nausea and I sometimes vomit. I am only eating to the point where I start to feel full, I don't eat beyond when I start to get that sensatio…
