When I first told my very close friend I was thinking about getting the sleeve she called me a "cheater", said I was taking the easy way out.( she herself is struggling with her weight) Because of that statement I was on the fence about surgery for 6 months. When I decided to get the surgery I didn't tell her until 3 days before. ( I was trying to stay in a positive frame of mind.) By NO means did I take the easy way out. This journey has been the toughest yet, with the recovery, chronic constipation, making sure I'm drinking, getting my protein and my vitamins. Now it seems like every time I talk to her she is trying to sabotage my progress. I love her to death, but her…

Hi all!! I was sleeved in July and I have lost 100 + pounds. I was doing great but now all of a suddenly I feel like I am allowing myself to eat too much and not always making the best choices. My BMI is 26 so I am super close to goal. I thought I had finally gotten rid of head hunger but now I always feel hungry. I got a job in December and it is pretty slow paced and I am bored often. Do you all have any tips and tricks to help me get past this? Thanks!

I'm officially post-op! I'm writing this at the end of my first day in hospital. It's been a day full of frustrating gas pain, moderate nausea, and some incision pain, but meds help with that. (I opt out of nausea meds because it only lasts five minutes at a time.) That being said, I have not experienced the so-called "Sleever's Regret" — not once! In fact, I'm actually planning my vsg anniversary trip to Disneyland in 2018! I hope I can pass gas tomorrow because it hurts something AWFUL! Other than that, I'm still very happy with my decision and look forward to all the new adventures. Thanks for reading! ️ Follow me @vsg_dan on Instagram if you want!

I was sleeved 12/22. I've had such a hard beginning including not being able to get my Protein in, having a hard time getting Water in, and couldn't get my Vitamins in without vomiting. I had to have a 1 week post Op appointment due to not feeling good at all. I was put on carafate 4 times daily, an acid reflux medication, and an anti-nausea medication. I lost 17 pounds the 1st week because I was very dehydrated and couldn't do anything about it. My Dr said if I waited until after the weekend I would've been in the ER for dehydration. I started eating more ice and trying to get some type of protein in for the 2nd week after surgery. I ate more popsicles. The 2 week appoin…

I'm just a week post-op and I am really struggling to get enough liquid down me. I too am sick of the sweet protein shakes, but unfortunately for me I've tried broths and thinned soups and they taste revolting to me now (whereas before I'd always enjoyed soups). I'm also just about getting 75cl of water down me per day (that's one of those medium Evian or Volvic water bottles with the sports cap). Thinking about taking more in really turns on me. I too don't know what to do!

How are you dealing with falling dress/pant sizes? I'm most especially concerned about bra sizing. Especially in early days, any suggestions? Also, compared with previous weight loss attempts, did you lose more, less or the same amount of breast tissue. I have really big boobs and I'm secretly hoping they go away!

Just checking in with the group. Surgeon said everything went well. Can't drink water it comes back up. Tolerating chicken broth better. Throat super dry. First night was hard but getting better. Not sure yet if I go home today or tomorrow. Thankful to have made it through . I still can't believe I finally did it!

Has anyone cheated on their eating plans? Today makes one full week that I've been sleeved and I'm starting to feel like me again. I enter the full liquid phase today. During the past week, I've not been able to get in my liquids or Protein bc it just hurt too bad to drink anything, but yesterday I got in 30 grams of protein, and about 40 oz of Water. This morning I drank a 14oz bottle of water in about an hour (makes me hopeful.) I don't EVER eat fish, but MY BODY CRAVVVVED IT TODAY! So I bought a piece and chewed it to toothpaste consistency. Ive eaten about eight nibbles in four hours and I don't feel horrible (literally nor figuratively, lol) just wondering if anyone…

Sorry I haven't written or responded in a while. I have had a very rough two months. I am officially 2 months out and I am just now starting to turn the corner. My hw 315, psw 269, sw 259, cw 233. The last 2 months since surgery I contracted cdiff, suffered from severe nausea and vomiting required multiple admissions for fluids and IV meds. Over the week, I have started drinking gingerale and for whatever reason I have all of a sudden started being able to hold food down. Today the doctor cleared me and I am doing so much better. I get to start my b12 injection and I got cleared to start working out. I am finally excited.

Hi! What are some questions you asked your surgeon in your final pre-op appointment? What do you wish you would have asked now that you've gone through the surgery? I'm compiling my list and here is what I have to ask so far: -How will the incisions be closed- stitches? staples? -What is the best way to prevent infection/how to care for inciscions -Will I have a drain? If so, how long?

HellO! So I'v been hearing that hair loss is an inevitable side effect of VSG. I guess the AMOUNT you lose, just like anything else, varies from person to person. but I was hoping someone might be able to give me at least SOME insight on what to expect. I am freaking out about it, so much so that I'm considering not even going through with my surgery. I'm already taking 10,000mcg of Biotin daily. If I am DILIGENT with my Vitamins post op, would it reduce the amount of hair loss? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

FYI.....Save some money!!!! Anyone starting this journey or even smack dab in the middle of it knows how expensive the required Vitamins and supplements are each month. I found a wonderful solution. Website is www.nascobal.com. It is a prescription medication for nasal B12 with a special program for a monthly $25 copay that includes your B12 and ALL OTHER SUPPLEMENTS! I thought it was too good to be true; but I discussed with my doctor and they submitted paperwork and I got my first shipment today. Everything is formulated strictly for bariatric patients and it ships automatically to me monthly. You can get chewable or capsule formulas. I got my B12, multi-Vit…

I was sleeved on Oct 25th, Pre-surgery weight 304lbs , surgery weight 292lbs. and current weight is 247lbs. In the beginning the weight came off fast, but as time has went on I have had a few stalls, and the weight is coming off very slow now, like a pound or two a week? YES its still a loss and I am very happy, but my question is it normal for weight loss to start slowing down as time goes on?

Was sleeved on 10 feb in Mexico. So far, I'm down about 18 pounds. I'm two weeks post op and having trouble getting Water in and I just can't seem to finish more than an ounce of a Protein shake (which used to be quite tasty) without being disgusted with them. I'm trying to keep drinking protein water but that too is a challenge. I'm beyond over the liquid blended phase of this post op recovery and have been tempted greatly over taking a little nibble of shrimp or chicken. I keep telling myself "it's only head hunger", but I'm getting worried that if I can't get these stupid protein shakes down, I'm going to have more to worry about than just losing hair. Trying other fl…

I'm a little past 4 months out. My stats are: HW-232 SW-220 CW-186 GW-140 Anyway. I've been doing ok until today. I didn't know who to talk to about this. My Facebook support groups are ok...but I really feel like I'll get better advice here. I have depression and anxiety. I had a therapy session today that left me in a bad place. We usually talk about things that upset me or what my worries are...but we ended the session with me talking about when I was abused...sexually. It was a brief talk and my therapist and I will likely discuss it next session. My issue is...right after I left her office... I sat in my car for 20 minutes then I got super emotional... and I started…

I work full time and am having hard time with healthy lunch options. Either I have to plan a crockpot chicken meal at home ahead of time, or I end up going to chipotle (chicken salad bowl) or McDonalds (2 plain grilled snack wraps). Any ideas on healthy BariatricPal friendly options that I can either bring to work or stop to grab?

I had sleeve surgery on Jan 5th and developed a leak. The process of endless endoscopies while I wither away on TPN is no longer tolerable. Are there any practices in the NY NJ area that fix these leaks? I don't mind another surgery if the leak will be fixed.

So, I went for 14 days with no pressure or urge to poop. I took a stool softener in case it was that. I pooped some, but then went another 5 days. Took another softener and voila...I pooped...once again, not lots. Anyone else like this? Is it because I am not eating meals of substance, mostly liquids?

I was sleeved on 1/30/17. I feel like I have completely failed at this. I cannot get enough fluids in. I have advanced my diet too quickly. I have no problem eating small amounts of soft foods. Protein shakes make me sick. If I see another cup of broth I'll be sick. I really regret the surgery so far.
