  5. I started this amazing weight loss journey on March 21, 2016 with my six month pre-op diet program, so tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of the day that I began the journey to get healthier and to take back my life. As I wrap this year up, I have lost 182 pounds (99 during the pre-op diet program and 83 since the surgery on September 28, 2016). The time has just flown by, and it amazes me every day how much my life is different. I had my annual physical with my PCP last Thursday, and my labs came back this morning. Everything is in the normal range. That is also so cool. The bottom line is that all of the hard work is worth it. My relationship with food is now…

I will be 4 years out in July. At 1 year out, I had lost 122 pounds. I was told I was too thin ( 5'6" 155 lbs). Stupidly, I continued to exercise, but got lax with my good food choices and pitched the "rules." Each year at my annual exam, I have steadily gained weight. My surgeon said in the beginning that her goal weight for me was 200 pounds. My pre-surgery weight was 283. She told me to just not gain anymore. About 6 months ago, I was having problems with reflux. My pcp sent me to digestive disease docs. They did an endo because I had also been throwing up quite a bit after eating. The video of the endo procedure showed that I had a restriction where the pylorus goes…

Hi, I'm almost 4 weeks post op. I've not had nausea until yesterday & then again today. It came on Super strong out of no where. At my 3 week follow up the doc placed me back on liquids because I was having really bad pain trying to get the soft foods down. Anyone else on here experience this. What was the issue? This nausea is awful

My surgery went well. I'm just filled with trapped gas which really hurts. And i can't keep anything down.

I am over 2 weeks post op and down over 25lbs. The past 2 days I have been getting very lightheaded as I stand up. it gets to the point on 2 occasions I had to sit back down. Anyone have this issue and should I be concerned? Im getting plenty of fluids. Could this simply be from the rapid weight loss?

I haven't seen too many people say they're drinking coconut water. Is that a no-no? I figured for the hydration purpose, it would be a good alternative to water? Anyone drinking that post-op?

  13. I'm currently 9 days post-op. After a rough first day at home after surgery, things have mellowed out a lot and I find I am better with each passing day. Like, a LOT better. As in, if I didn't have healing incisions, the memory of surgery, and a lack of normal hunger sensations, I would not know I had surgery. My energy levels are at 100%, I have no pain, I can exercise fully, and nothing hurts when I attempt any activity. I am meeting all of my Protein, Fluid, Vitamin, and exercise goals. And my pouch seems happy. My nutritionist advanced me to pureed foods yesterday and I'm having no issues with anything I've tried. I have the sense I could eat more,…

I went to my "Post-Op" Class yesterday and found out that during the first week I have to drink 1 ounce of Water every 15 minutes for a total of 64 ounces a day so that I won't get dehydrated. We were told to set a timer so we are getting this Fluid down every 15 minutes. I did the math and if we actually do this we are going to have to be awake for 16 hours a day. If we are recovering from surgery, how are we supposed to be getting any rest if we are awake for 16 hours every day for a week? Would you experienced sleevers please explain to me how you got through this week doing this? (My surgery is scheduled for April 6th.)

I'm waiting not so patiently to get the call that I'm approved and can schedule a surgery date!! In the meantime, I get on here to read the good, the bad, the ugly and mostly to see all of your before and after pics! After tonight's reading about someone's dreaded stall, a thought sparked. How often should we way ourselves? I know when I did weight watchers (all 700 times) I was told to way once a week. Is it hard not to become obsessed with the scale? Also, another question. 19. I am trying to figure out how is it possible that people gain weight despite the dumping syndrome that exists in Gastric Bypass patients, virtually due to the fact that the Pylorus is not intact? If anyone has answers to this, please feel free to share. Is it that people have figured out how to cheat the punishment factor of Dumping, and get around it? Thanks, Gabriel

Hi all, My surgery was yesterday and thank God no pain or nausea just a very bloated belly that was uncomfortable and prevented me from making my water and protein goals yesterday. After a suppository, anti gas medicine and lots and lots of walking today I have been able to get back on track getting in my liquids. Btw Torrance Memorial is amazing, nice individual rooms and they have the best staff. Also, my surgeon Dr Solomon is awesome. Small incisions no drain no catheter and calming demeanor. Yay! Good luck and prayers for everyone in this journey.

I am only 10 days post op and I can eat one scrambled egg. From everything I've read, people can't eat more then 2-3 bites without feeling full. Should I be concerned that I can eat one whole scrambled egg and don't feel that way? I'm content after I eat it and I don't feel sick.

Hello everyone, so I'm 3 days post op sleeve and I can not eat! I have no desire to eat or drink anything. I take small sips of broth and protein shakes but only a couple. Water goes down fine too. I'm scared to get that full feeling because I honestly do not want to throw up! So I always stop before I feel full. I had nausea the first 2 days but now it's gone. I don't want to become dehydrated or malnourished. How often am I suppose to be eating ? And how much ? Please give me some advice. I really want to do this right !

My tendonitis in my elbows has resolved and my knees no longer hurt everday. I went from zero minutes of exercise a week to a min of 210. That's how long it took to make my original goal weight of 139.9 pounds. I am thrilled but now that I'm here I can see I still have work to do, especially in stomach area. Every day I can see more loose skin but I'll take that over fat any day of the week. Though I want to lose a bit more, If I do not lose another pound I am totally ok with that. The progress has been more than I hoped for! Booked a cruise to celebrate and bought and will actually wear bathing suits!! Woohoo!!!

I am 7 days post op and I've been doing great with my diet of liquids but I'm curious what full feels like. I have yet to feel hunger so I am eating because I need to. I haven't eaten until I feel pain or discomfort so I'm starting to get concerned I'm not noticing it. What did full feel like to you this early on? I eat (drink rather) my broths and such very slowly and eat my Greek yogurt very slowly but I don't feel anything.

I had my RNY surgery on 1/26. I started at 214. Immediately afterwards I was 222 with fluids. Then it dropped to 204 pretty quickly, where it stalled for two weeks. Then I had a drop to 197, and it stalled for a couple of weeks. I read a ton of posts on here and elsewhere, but nothing I found explained stalls as well as this article http://100down.org/the-whoosh-effect I think I'm starting a whoosh, after two weeks of not budging the last few days I lost .2, .4, 1.4 lbs each day. DH and I were talking and if you read the article, the starvation hypothesis makes sense, so while I can't cheat I will make more of an effort to consistently hit 1000-1200 kcal and convince my …

Hi everyone. I had my RNY 1/4/16. My doctor advanced me to a regular diet Feb 16th. I have finally figured out how much to eat and knowing when one more bite will bite me back. At least most of the time I do. The last few weeks I am having issues when I start drinking liquids 1/2 to 1 hour after a meal. It causes pain and vomiting a lot of the time. I know that I am chewing good (you can tell when it comes back out). Sometimes there seems to be no ryhme or reason as to it beign WHAT I ate. So Tommorow is one week post op and I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I can barely get in 20g of Protein a day, and am never hungry. Today I went out on a limb to try and ensure I'm following rules. I had a sugar free pop sickle and then I began sipping on my protein premier shake (strawberries n cream), I also had unsweet tea with three Splenda, and sips of Water. I got nauseated and then puked up some nasty smelling stuff that was dark n color. I had also swallowed two pills one for acid reflux and an Iron pill within secs of each other. Did I do something wrong?
