Surgery was on Thursday! I'm back home (had to travel out of country) and doing well. I managed to avoid the awful gas pains I've heard about and have been tolerating fluids well. I know it's early (only day 5), but so far I'm so pleased with how things went and the overall experience. My post-op is clear fluids days 1-3, then full fluids days 4-17 before moving on to to purees, softs, then finally at day 40 normal food. My goal for the full fluids phase is 64 oz liquids and 40 gm Protein. I'm able to get in around 50 oz liquids and will be 24 gm protein today. Looking forward to what the future holds!!

Since I could eat regular foods (almost 2 months ago) I have gotten into the bad habit of only eating 1 meal a day on average. I don't eat breakfast because I drive an hour to work and eating in the car makes me nauseous, plus I don't wake up early enough to have a sit-down meal. I very rarely eat lunch at work due to being very busy, only eating when my co-worker forces me to go to lunch with the guys. So at night I'll have 1 meal and sometimes a snack before bed. When I got my vitamin panel back I was 0.1 below the normal protein range. Everything else but vitamin D was good. I know I need to get out of this habit, especially when hunger comes back into play, but I am n…

So I was sleeved in Jan 2014 and I initially got down to 145lb and ever since then I just fluctuate between 145-150lbs. I really want to get to 125lbs but I can't figure it out!! The scale won't move no matter what! I am working out about 2-3 times a week and eating better. Anyone else have trouble and figure out how to get the scale moving again?

My surgery was last Tuesday (6 days ago). I'm still on stage 3 (water, bean Soups, yogurt, and Protein shakes). At this point I'm still unable to eat more than 3-4 bites of anything without getting the chest pain as if I'm eating fast, but I know I'm not. It's becoming impossible to get the required 60g Of protein and 64 oz of water/fluids. The only way is to have 2 ENTIRE shakes (I can drink 1/4 and it takes me 45 mins) and work on Water ALL day! Ugggh. Seems like a full time job and im failing big time. Any suggestions?? Please tell me this doesn't last long?

So. I'm a month post op on 3/22. This weekend (Friday night), I ended up in the ER for dehydration and constipation. They did an abdomen X-ray and a CAT scan with contrast. They said no leaks and that with the MOM and Miralax my doctor had me taking, and the fluids they gave me, I should go to the bathroom. Sure enough, I've been able to go so that's great. This morning, I woke up with sharp pains on my left side, kinda under my rib cage. They radiate up, so almost like they're moving under my boob. And sometimes, along my lower belly. They've been persistent since 6am - it's almost noon now. Haven't eaten yet today. Any insights? I really, really do not want to go back…

Twice a day ... or like in one week how often do you think your pooping ? I know it's a gross question but I'm just curious.

Had my VSG on 3/2/17; no problems thus far-unless you count clothes not fitting, LOL! Anyway, preparing to go on a 7day cruise the last week of April 2017; tried on some shorts that I've always taken on trips....Don't know why, but was shocked they were too big! Off to Target I went to get 3 pair of shorts. Normally wear a 14/16 women's/plus, so I tried a 12 women's/plus----guess what, THEY WERE TOO BIG!!!! I had to go into the misses/juniors; got a light denim in a misses 10, a dark denim in a misses 10, and a white pair in a misses 12 (different material)!!!!! WHAT A GREAT NSV TO START THE WEEK WITH!!!!!! Highest wt: 240lbs 1st dr appt wt: 220lbs Day of surgery wt: 193.…

I had my surgery a couple of years ago. It has been both good and bad. I started off around 330. At my lowest I got down to 159. Now Im regulated at 180 pounds. Ive went up and down and it can be stressful. I had a social life prior to the surgery after the surgery not so much. I cant eat or drink alot. I really cant eat and drink at the same time. Im still not eating a full meal and im cool with that tho. It just makes it a little rough with friends who want to go out eat and drink and im sitting on the side either nibbling at something or sipping on something for the entire night...lol I havent told many people so ppl may wonder why im sipping and nibbling and…

I had surgery on 3/15 and today I was released to full liquids and am able to drink protein drinks now. However, I can't seem to get down more than 2 oz at a time and my diet plan says to get 4 oz for every meal. I've only gotten in about 4.5 oz all day. Did anyone else have this trouble in the beginning with trying to get your protein in? Also, any tips for getting enough fluids? I really don't want to get dehydrated.

Hi guys I'm almost two weeks post-op and I'm having a hard time with my stomach and back hurting where my big incision is when I stand up or walk. When I sit down it goes away. Has anyone had the same problem. How can I help it to get better. I'm worried since I'm going back to work tomorrow. I talked to my Dr. And he said I had a deep internal stich and it should go away as I heal. I tried Tylenol but it didn't phase it.

I woke up nauseated this AM. And also no weight loss noted this am. I had VSG surgery 3/10/17 and I was trying to vomit. Didn't have anything to vomit up I laid down and took a zofran. I didn't have anything to eat yet today. I took my meds and drank water. I'm still laying here. I don't feel good. I wander if it was something I ate yesterday, or it it something I'm eating too much of, or was it taking my meds this am. I don't know what it was but I don't want it to happen again. EVER.

Hi, I'm just looking for a little support and advice please. Stats: Sleeve performed on 11/15/16 - 4 days in hospital, 1 ER vist first month dehydrated, discomfort and pressure since, 3 months prescribed PPI and Carafate, 4 months ER visit with chest pain - stomach and intestinal discomfort - Reflux. I was told to go back onto phase 3 diet (pureed). With the PPI the pressure is slightly better. Complete food aversion during the first month - minimally improving. Swallowing is OK but different since the surgery. Regurgitation with everything even liquids - this is improved with the PPI but gets worse leading up to and during menses. Sarcoid…

If you are in the stage where you are allowed "normal" healthy food, and lime me you get occasional cravings for something salty and crunchy, look for these thingys: Baked Cheese Crisps. No carbs! Perfect for when you soooo want some freaking chips but know you shouldn't! I put a couple inside a deli meat roll. Fantastic!

Hey everyone, I'm at the 6 month post-op mark and I'm going through the longest stall I've experienced in my journey thus far! I'm not new to stalls, as my body will usually stall for 2 weeks at a time then all of a sudden I'll lose 5 pounds over the course of 2 days, but my weight hasn't changed in over a moth now and I'm feeling incredibly discouraged. My starting weight was 285 before my 3 week liquid only pre-op diet, and I was 265 on the day of surgery. I've been sitting at 205 for the past few weeks, so I've only lost about 60 pounds since my actual surgery date My goal weight is 150 which seems like a mile away right now! I've been logging everything I eat o…

So we all basically take a bunch of vitamins or prescribed pills a day just from having surgery. Multi vitamin calcium and vita d liquid b vitamins etc.. So my question is what the nest way to take pill that you need to take with food? If drinking after you say makes your stomach empty faster then don't this mean pills won't fully desolve? I tried taking them then eating but this made me nauseous so what's the best way ?

So I'm 18 days post op, I've already had to go to my surgeons office once for rehydration as I'm having a hard time getting my water and protein in, but since Wednesday I've been having really severe left stomach pain when standing and walking. It's okay as long as I'm laying down and not moving, but that's not realistic since I have 2 kids under 5... My pain wasn't bad after surgery and i only needed my pain mess the first few days post op, so this is something completely new to me... has anyone had pain like this before?

Feeling really good. No pain, lost 26 pounds including pre op diet. My only complaint is I'm tired, a little cranky at times and dealing with head hunger. Still would do it again.

Hi all! I am on day 2 of being home and am starting to feel better each day. Even made it out of the house for a (short) walk! My question is, when did you start feeling like yourself/ "normal" again? My plan is to go back to work Tuesday of next week (6 days post op), have any of you returned to work around that time frame? Or do you recommend longer recovery time? I work in an office setting so not lifting anything really. What are your thoughts? Sorry for all of the questions but I know there are some real pros out there that may have sound advice [emoji4]

Hi guys, just seeing how you measure/weigh food that is pretty light weight. For dinners i always weigh 4oz portions but for lighter items like lunch meats/salads/cereals im just not sure.. Should i be looking at doing a cup of food? Or do you just usually make up a plate and eat until you feel satisfied. Bc i feel like i can eat a whole bowl of cereal lol

I joined a gym on 3/2. I've been to the gym 11 out of those 13 days and one of the days I missed I went on a 30 min walk with my husband. I have been doing some combination of a water aerobics class, biking 5 miles on the recumbent bike or walking 30+ min (1.5+ miles) with husband. Some days I do all three. According to my fitness tracker, it's equaled to 5200 Cal's in the past 7 days. My food logs, while having so not super fantastic food choices, have averaged less than 1200 cals and at least 80g of protein a day. I've been getting a min of 50 oz liquids (64 is still hard for me to do along with food). That comes out to ~8400 cals in the last 7 days. So with a net intak…

Hi Everyone, I was sleeved today (March 13th), and it's now 11:45pm and I feeling pretty good. I was kinda annoyed that surgery was scheduled late, I didn't have to be at the hospital until 1pm. I had a lot gas pain in recovery, but now it's minimal. The biggest issue now is dry mouth and little soreness from my incisions. They are requiring me to sleep with CPAC mask on even though I don't have sleep apnea. The surgeon thinks I'm doing really good, might let me go home tomorrow. They are giving me Tylenol & oxycodone, and neuontin plus zofran and a patch for nausea. I've also been cleared to drink Water the first night. Thats about a…
