Hooray! I found this awesome brand at Costco, and I've heard that Target is carrying it in most stores too. Kodiak protein pancake and waffle mix- for those near or at maintaining their goal weight, or for when the craving for pancakes is there. . Very tasty, tender, soft pancakes with no, I repeat, no protein powder taste or "off" tastes. Just like normal pancakes, but with 14 G protein per 2 pancakes (1/2 cup prepared mix) and 5 g fiber. It can go up to 21g protein per serving if you prepare with nonfat milk and an egg. I did that and added vanilla extract and 2 stevia packets since I like my pancake batter on the sweeter side. So yummy! I can see me slathering …

I have eaten tuna salad or chicken salad every day for the last 4 months and if I have to eat it one more day I am going to puke. I am almost 6 months out and find myself snacking on crackers because I can't stand the Protein anymore. This has slowed my weight loss down (only lost 10 pounds in the last 3 1/2 months). I don't want to fall into the trap I did before and start going out for lunch everyday. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

I had my last visit today and should be getting my packet submitted to insurance soon. It was a nutrition class, and the nutritionist leading it said something about caffeine that I hadn't heard before. She said that they're starting to see sleevers farther out who are developing ulcers along the staple line, and the current theory is that it's caffeine related. Because of that, she said no caffeine for the 1st two months, and no more than 1 cup / day after that. I'm okay giving it up, it's not a big deal for me, but wanted to share what she said because I hadn't heard anything about the issue before today.

Hi folks, In another thread a couple of us were talking about how we couldn't stop losing until we upped our calorie count. It came out that many folks struggle to meet a higher daily total due to the wonderful restriction of our sleeves. In this thread, I'd like to ask folks to list their tips and recipes for adding calories back into their diets to hit a higher target. Please list your cal/day target as well, so those struggling can see what's common around the community. I'm sitting at 1300/day trying to get to 1500/day. I was only sleeved at the end of october so I'm still a baby. But I already shot past my goal and need to track and add in order to stop los…

I was wondering if any of you vets eat Pasta and/or rice and how far along in the healing process it took you to begin eating it again. I completely understand that I won't be successful without consuming Protein first, then greens, and carbs last. However, I'm hoping to be able to enjoy pasta/rice again on a very limited basis. I also understand that I perhaps won't be able to tolerate pasta/rice at all after surgery. Just wanted to get some opinions.

so last night i got brave and made awesome tortilla pizzas. a little sauce, some turkey pepperoni, canned mushrooms, cheese. i brushed the tortillas with a little EVOO first and sprinkled on some garlic powder. i put the toppings on and baked on a baking sheet for about 20 minutes. i did some online research and found that if you PRE bake them they get even crispier. going to try that tonight. SUPER good. i'm 6.3 wks out, on a regular ALL foods diet and this was my first try with any crusted pizza. ate half of it, went down awesome good. no probs. i used the small fajita sized tortillas. just thought i'd share~!

Hello everyone! I have been banded for almost 3 years now. I recently got sick with really bad allergies and doctor had me on a very high dose of steroids and 3cc's were taken out of my band. This caused me to gain about 40 lbs. thankfully I am doing great. I went for a fill on Tuesday, they have been filling me up gradually, so right now I'm on liquids for 3 days and soft foods for 3 days. Back to the basics so to speak. This time around I want to cut out carbs, just get the minimal amount needed, with that said. Has anyone tried the Paleo Diet? Has it worked for you? What do you eat?

I was sleeved July 1. I'm four weeks out today and am barely losing. I'm so discouraged. I know I'm not getting in enough protein, but anything I try to ingest makes me nauseous. I'm doing ok on water intake. I just am not dropping wieght like I see others losing 40-50 lbs in their first month or so. I need help! Can't do protein shakes. I've tried all of them and I just can't stomach them. Please!!! Any suggestions?? I'm getting freaked out that the surgery didn't work and all my time, money, pain & suffering was for naught.

Avocados are delicious. They seem to be nutritious. But they are high-fat and high-cal but supposedly a "good fat." Do you view avocados as a good food for WLS patients? Would one avocado per day be too much? I would appreciate your opinions and experiences.

I plan on having a shake on the 20 minute commute every day. Water in between clients. hard boiled eggs, egg salad, chili, yogurt, meatballs, tuna salad, chicken salad, crab dip...all great options. any other ideas? i'm SURE i'm over looking all sorts of options. i'm on softs now and doing great but trying hard to incorporate all the 'requirements' of Protein, carbs, fats, water, that my nut outlined. i only have a couple days left so no time to buy anything on internet for now, but that's an option later on. i just want to get back into a solid groove and get my eating in! thanks

This is what I typically pack for my workday. My day usually starts off with a 2 egg omlet with half a serving of cheese (190 calories total) The content of my lunch bag is dannon light and fit yogurt (80 calories) Premier Protein shake (160 calories) single serving beef Jerky (100 calories) 4oz of turkey chili (120 calories) but can vary, morning star black bean burger or turkey or chicken breast pickled egg (great snack) 70 calories Many days I cant eat it all when I get home I may or may not have a serving of some sort of dense protein, depends of the day this usually brings me well over 80+ grams of protein and keeps me satisfied all day long

Some people have a hard time drinking just the protein drinks out of the box. Today I added a little more than half of a premier chocolate protein shake (about 8oz), half a banana, 1 tbsp of peanut butter, and a few ice cubes. Threw it in my ninja and it was delicious!!!! You can play around with measurements to fit the consistency you want! After next week I think I'll try adding some almonds!

Does anyone have any ideas for the purée food stage? I need help starting it Tuesday and need good ideas. Thank you!!!!

I just made a batch of tomato Soup. It's tomatoes, stock, garlic, onion, seasonings, and heavy cream (I use a stick blender to blend). Only a few family members like it, so I thought I would freeze it in small portions for after my surgery in August. I'm trying to organize things as I put them into my freezer for easy reference, and my question is, is this mild enough for the puree stage? It still has some smallish bits of onion/tomato seeds in it. Or should I label it for "mushies"? Also, I realize it doesn't have much Protein, but I'm thinking I can add some unflavored protein to it after it's reheated and cooled a little.

I'm just curious on how many folks have given up on meat and follow a vegetarian diet. I have had to give up meat, which I loved before surgery, because it just does not sit well in Winnie the pouch. Since I cannot tolerate meat anymore, and actually crave veggies (I used to not like veggies before surgery), I would love to hear if this is common and if you were ever able to tolerate meat again. And how do you get your Protein in without meat. Protein shakes don't sit well either, by the way. I had RNY on March 5, 2014, and had some complications for the first 3 months and was in and out of the hospital several times.

So, I am finding myself eating carbs and empty calories with little to no Protein at work. I need easy to hide, go to Snacks that will help me see results on the scale. Perferably, ones that don't need to be refridgerated. I mean, it can be, but it's hard for me to get to the fridge after 4pm when I am maning the desk by my self. However, I am open to ANY and ALL suggestions!!!!!!! Thank you!

Hey y'all. I am 5 weeks post bypass. My family and I went for a road trip today. I packed enough food for the whole trip, perfectly planned and measured. We checked in to our hotel, loaded everything into the fridge, and left for the event we're here for. When we got back, we realized the fridge is broken and everything got spoiled. Now I'm 200 miles from home with nothing to eat. I could really use some help here. I don't know anything about ordering from a restaurant that would be both bariatric friendly and gluten free. I don't know what to do.

At my last meeting with my NUT, I asked about millet and how it compared with quinoa as a possible replacement for rice, Pasta, etc. She said she had honestly never been asked that question, and was going to do some research on it. So I though I'd ask here...anyone have any experience with millet? Nutritionally, it seems to compare quite well to quinoa (it is missing only Lysine, and has very similar stats, nutritionally) So I was wondering if anyone has any experience with millet?

I am 5 days post op and feel pretty darn good. I've been living on chicken broth with a bit of hot sauce added, diluted apple juice, and jell-o. I would love to have some warm vegetable broth but it's not technically 'clear'. However it is the same thinness and consistency as the chicken broth. I only have a few more days of this phase so it's no biggie if i can't sip the veggie broth...but it sounds really wonderful right now. I have a call in to my nut but am really curious as to what other's have sipped on in the clear liquid phase.

How do I set my mind that I am never going to be able to eat pizza, and chocolate, cheetos and all my favorite foods ever again? Did anyone go into mourning not being able to have it? I am aware I can have a taste of it but does that satisfy your cravings? and if you get sick you can never even try it again. Plus how disciplined are u in your diets? Sounds like everyone is just really really careful, and are u afraid of messing up? Pretty scarry stuff!!!

I am 11 months out and I have lost 185 pounds. I went from 387 pounds down to 205 pounds. I am thrilled with my success but I am still only eating anywhere from 700 to 1100 calories a day. That is three meals, a mid morning and mid afternoon snack and a bedtime snack. I always get in my Protein at about 85 to 87 grams. I drink all the Water at least 8 glasses a day. So according to my fitness pal, If I keep this up I will weigh 187 pounds. I don't want to weigh 187 but for the life of me I don't know what to do to stop losing weight. I passed my goal weight of 225 a long time ago and though I do not want to gain any weight I just think it is time for me to maintain. Do…

so I'm a couple of days away from being 6 weeks out. I'm on soft foods and I've been eating a lot of fish, eggs, and rotisserie chicken. Tonight I'm meeting a friend for dinner. It will be the 1st time out to a restaurant since surgery. For some reason I'm nervous about it. We are going to Fuzzy's taco shop. I've already scoped out the menu and I'm going to get baja grilled shrimp soft taco or fish taco. I'm planning on just eating the shrimp and or fish because I'm not sure if I can eat corn tortillas. I know i'm supposed to stay away from breads til week 7 but i'm not sure about tortillas. Anyone know corn tortillas or ok to eat at this point?

My surgery is next week and I just wondering about something. My dietician said to stay away from sticky rice as in sushi. Does that mean forever? I think that sushi is the best thing on the planet so I would be sad to see it go. I understand if it would be awhile before my stomach could handle the rice but I'm hoping down the road a few pieces would be ok. There is always sashimi which will be fine I assume. Anybody have experience with sushi?

I see a lot of you mix powder into things. What is it I would look for when going to purchase? Can you add it to scrambled eggs for example before cooking? If you add it to soup does it change the taste? I'm worried about not getting enoug protein. Thanks for any suggestions.
