Hello I'm on the purée/ soft stage, so I can have, eggs, ricotta, cottage cheese, my doc didn't really give me a good list. He said protein that can be purée or you can easily chew??? Anyways. I saw many examples here and on Pinterest etc. but what's the portion size? If I eat 1 egg? Can I add little ricotta? Or avocado? How many times should I eat? Totally confuse.

Maybe it's me but I'm having issues with fruits. Oranges I can't eat or my stomach kills me! I literally just ate an apple and bam I went straight to the bathroom. Bananas fill me up for a long time but leave me feeling uncomfortable also. Grapes taste weird to me now and Pre op they were my all time go to fruit. Anyone else?!

I have been struggling with beef, chicken, pork and turkey since I was sleeved in Oct 2014. I had almost given up on these until today! I went to my local Coles Supermarket and bought Local Legends Beef Jerky made right here in Australia - its made in New South Wales with 100% Aussie Beef and firstly it not only tastes good.. but my Sleeve likes it!! Maybe its because it forces me to chew forever and a day! I'm so going to be stocking up on this product! Just curious if anyone has bought anything from food and supplement site specializing in low carb, bariatric supplies, and other protein/weight loss products. I've been placing orders for the last 2 months and could not be happier. The have an awesome selection of low carb food items. Definitely check it out if you are looking for low carb options. If so, what are your favorite things? These are some of the things I purchased and loved Carbquick - low carb baking mix. I made protein/low carb waffles and thought they were awesome! cheese crips - a low car/high Protein snack Dried edamame - a low carb/high fiber/high protein snack sugar free candies - somethin…

Hey all i had RNY December 1st so im a dew days shy of 2 months. So my diet was 2 weeks liquids 2 weeks puree and 6 weeks soft foods. First 3 stages were good no issues when i started soft foods i was doing well as well but I've noticed that now almost nothing sets well unless it yogurt really soft cereal. Even my go to ground beef and beans isn't really setting well. I have a few bite and get nauseous so not even eating 1/4 cup. Protien bars seem ok but everything takes me forever to eat like almost an hour if not more. Things weren't like this at first is it that my pouch is less tolorent now that I've healed more?? Anyone else go through this?

I am starting full liquid today amd was hoping for some suggestions to make my protein shake taste better. If I added a banana and mixed it in my ninja would it still be considered full liquid? I was sleeved on 2/19 down 14 pounds. I have only been able to get down 1 1/2 oz of fluid every 2-3 hrs. I definitely cant do the shake but I am feeling weak.

I need advice, please. I am 1 week post op and on my third week of high-Protein liquids. Fortunately, I have no complications (knock on wood.) Unfortunately, I now have an insatiable appetite (I have almost never in my life felt "full" but right now I am hungry 24/7.) During the two weeks pre-op, under a general admonition to "try to lose some weight" I lost 11 lbs by eating lowfat and high protein. Never was especially hungry, even if not full either. My doctor wants 64 oz. of liquid with a minute between sips and no more than an ounce every five minutes. I find if i am not paying close attention, I will have consumed a 3,75 oz. cup of SF Jello in no time,Five minutes…

I don't think I can tolerate even one more Protein shake. I start gagging just thinking about them. I even tried the unflavored and it has a slight sweet taste. All I am allowed right now is: -sugar free Jello (Sickening sweet) -crystal light (Sickening sweet) -Water -broth -Protein shakes (Sickening sweet) -milk (also sweet) For some reason my dietitian scratched off the yogurt and strained cream or clear Soups from my list, but I am tolerating foods fine, other than all the sweetener in everything. It would be nice to just have plain yogurt or some low sodium V8. I got one more week of this phase and I have already been on it for 3 weeks, any suggestio…

I was served some Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice tea and was surprised to find that it is sweet before you add any type of sweetener. I read the label and found the ingredients include cinnamon, roasted chicory, roasted carob, natural spice and vanilla flavors with other natural flavors, ginger, cardamom, black pepper, cloves and nutmeg. Now I know that many of those things have a little bit of sweetness to them, but not enough to make the tea as sweet as it tastes. But the label also lists the carb/calorie count as zero. What gives? Is this tea weight loss friendly or do the "other natural flavors" include something I should beware of?

I am VERY early on in the process, so in some senses this is premature. But I figure if I can collect ideas here now, I will have time to do my own research AND get the products I decide on before I actually need them. (Being on Disability, I have a VERY tight budget so will probably only be able to get one item per month sort of thing.) There are a couple of topics in various other places on Bariatric Pal, and I found a couple of web sites that give general post-op suggestions for after surgery. What I've come up with so far is Arnica, Belle Perenis, Calendula, Gota Kola extract, and Staphisagria. Also loading up on Vitamins A, C, and E along with the miner…

Hi All, Need some WLS veteran advice! I've taken the approach that I wanted to get to goal as quickly as possible, and then deal with learning how to eat "normally" from the lower platform, rather than on the way down. Up to now I've existed on 700-900 calories per day from 90% Protein, 10% veggies and tons of fluids. So now I'm approaching my goal and looking for advice on how to proceed. I'm wondering... if I keep doing what I'm doing, will I continue losing weight, or will my body find it's ideal weight and stop losing on its own? Or, more likely, I'll need to increase my calorie intake to 1300-1500 in order to maintain without gaining weight. Does that soun…

So today I was at work and I did something I really should have... My good friend who I hadn't seen in a while came by and brought the office a platter of edible arrangements. I stupidly, without thinking, popped a chocolate covered piece of banana in my mouth. I am only two weeks out after being sleeved and have only just started eating pureed foods.. I don't feel sick or anything, but I'm kind of scared! Will I gain weight now?! Anyone else make a mistake early on in the game with food they shouldn't have had? I also feel like I can tolerate a lot of foods that other people wouldn't be able to. Old habits die hard..

hello to all the post-op folks on this forum! my surgery is in 2 days and I have many questions about the success/failures of eating certain foods afterwards...I hope you will help me with a few insights! 1. Baked Beans- my family and I love Bush's baked Beans and the Protein count in them is great. But do they give anybody problems due to the sugar content (brown sugar, molasses, etc)?? 2. Kraft Mac/Cheese- another fave in my house. We have small kids AND live on a tight budget so every couple of weeks when the bank account is dry we have Kraft spirals for dinner with some ground beef mixed in... 3. Peanut Butter toast- a staple Breakfast. I know eggs are great for…

So I am eleven weeks post surgical, and have lost 107 pounds to this point. Weight loss has slowed due to the fact that I have been taking prednisone for a gout attack i had for four weeks. Nutritionist said that drug will severely hamper weight loss and bring it to a near halt. I saw her last week and she informed me that I need to be getting close to 2000 calories a day in... it is 4:58 right now and I still have 1000 calories to go. Anyone have any suggestions?? I am trying to eat, but quite honestly I am full a lot of the time. I am very active and work out five days a week, and the reason for the need to get so many calories I am told is so I'm not wearing eatin…

I ran across these today - Snapea Crisps - in the bakery/fresh produce area of Super Wal-Mart. I was skeptical at first but they turned out to be delicious. If you like Funyuns or Andy Capp fries, these make a great substitute for them or potato chips. I'm glad I picked them up and now wish I had gotten the other flavors to try as well, or at least bought more than 1 bag of the Caesar flavor! :-P If you are looking for an alternative to potato chips, I can't recommend Snapea Crisps enough. Made from green peas, they have the texture of a Funyun or Andy Capp Hot Fries. Baked and crunchy, they have a hint of onion and parmesan cheese. $1.50 per bag / 3.5 servings pe…

It sounds like most of us have eggs on our puree plan. I know mine specifies "scrambled", but I'm wondering how the rest of you treat eggs during this stage. I'd love a hard boiled or deviled egg right now but I'm not sure how big of a difference the texture makes.

Hi, everyone! As a vegetarian sleever, currently in India, I currently find myself strapped for Protein options. I mainly do Protein shakes, Protein Bars, lentils, yogurt, Peanut Butter, and cheeses (including paneer, which is sort of like cottage cheese). On some days, I might have a maximum of one ounce of cheese. On other days, however, I catch myself eating maybe 3 ounces of paneer, 1 to 2 ounces of cheese, and 2 tbsp of peanut butter all on one day. This is partially my fault, because I see it happen on days where I don't drink my Protein shake, or on days where my fridge is not well stocked with protein options. Today was one of those days! In my head, this all …

Has anyone ever tried the recipies on the Eggface blog? (I think the web address is http://www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com ). They all look pretty good in the pictures, but do they taste good? Her idea for using a Bento Box for lunches is really good; I'm on the lookout for one locally. I'm jumping ahead a little bit (I'm getting sleeved this Friday, so it'll be a while before I can experiment with recipies) but I'm just curious. Does anyone have any other good resources for post-WLS meals? Thanks!

Hi there wondering if anyone could please give me some info!! Here's my situation!! Since having my band my body reacts different too sugar. If I eat sugar it's like my body goes in shock and won't loose any weight. But if I avoid everything with sugar on a daily bases like for two weeks I can sometimes loose up too 4/5 kgs in like 14 days. Meaning I loose a couple grams of weight daily. I'm not even sure who to contact, but I was thinking...wouldn't it be a great idea to have bariatric size meals ready to go for people. When I went to the grocery store, even a lean cuisine or atkins meal is just too much to eat. Who would want to venture into a business doing frozen and fresh meals and Snacks for wls patients? Does anyone know how to go about this and who to contact? It would be great to have small portion sizes or even 2-3 portions in a box that are separated. It would have to be great tasting food and many varieties! I for one don't eat red meat or pork so using ground turkey and chicken would be ideal for me. I know others eat meat so havin…

Hey Everyone, I'm 7 days post op. feel good! Been walking almost every day. 1 to 2 miles. And over all really good. Even questioning if they even did the surgery because I feel good lol. My doctor wants me to do the 30 ccs every 15 minutes, but I just can't do that. I feel really good and it drives me crazy to eat like that. Instead I have been listening to my sleeve. I eat 5 times a day and nothing more than cup of full liquid at a time and get the rest of my liquids in with Water. So I've been really wanting flavor. First few days I did great with some butternut squash Soup, beef broth, chicken broth, a homemade cream of mushroom soup, an…

I've been reading a lot on the wonders of bone broth...that it is good for digestive healing, skin, and hair. Anyone else jumped on this bandwagon? I'm hoping that it will help prevent loose skin to some extent.. lots of gelatin and collagen to promote skin elasticity. Can't hurt I guess :-)

I'm new to these forums, but I've done quite a bit of reading regarding post-op diets. My understanding from my NUT, and my surgeon is that the post-op diet is not intended to be "low carb." That is very clearly stated in my educational paperwork. However, so many threads seem to just freak out over eating ANY carbs...even claiming to gain x amount of pounds from eating a cracker, or stalling for weeks because they drank a glass of wine. Quite frankly, it starts to read like a pro-ana website sometimes! I thought this surgery was not only a tool to help us loss weight, but also to help us develop a healthy relationship with food. By all means, eat HEALTHY, eat CLEA…
